30 and 40 year old blokes at work wetting themselfs over a computer game.. people qued over night at tescos in rainham to get a copy. prob im just jelous im not one of them having a 4 year old at home means my ps3 is only used to watch ben 10 dvds im lucky if i get 30 mins on fm2013 these days.
Its a fantastic game and i have only managed to play it for a couple of hours. Love the witty radio stations taking the piss out of america etc i would to see them do a london version again
Thing is with London, the whole dynamics of the game will have to change, as there is little gun culture and crime is very different as a result. I'm not convinced they'll be able to come to London, unless they set it in the past with iconic cars like the Ford escort cosworth and the like. Remember above all its the cars that have to be right for a 'Grand Theft Auto' game
Literally so in love with this game. GTA V online is being launched in a couple of weeks and that will give you about 200 -odd more missions as well as there being whispers that Rockstar will be putting San Fierro and Las Venturas in the game as DLC. The soundtrack is also the nuts!
I hadn't thought too much about getting this. I've purchased 2 games in the last 2 years and got bored after a few days on both occasions.
Messing about doing things like laying mines on the freeway were always my favourite GTA activities. Can you drop golf balls and hit them at people, or at least smash up cars and windows? If so then I'm going on Amazon.
I played it for around 4 hours last night, quality game. I wasnt that psyched like everyone but ended up buying on lunch que'd for 5 minutes.
I wasn't really doing alot of missions as there is so much to do, one of the highlights was getting kicked out of a strip club for too much touching... standard and then i knocked the bouncer out so went back in and had about 5 bouncers chasing me so i left prompt. Storylines are good, on a negative note shooting is hard and will take some getting used to. Didin;t find driving too bad just depends on what car you are driving, same with bike
For occasional gamers i would recommend it, i will buy 2 games all year and this is one and Fifa
Remember the game getaway which was based in London and was pretty good
That game was fun, despite being low-budget and a little cheap! The sequel was horrible, but driving through Leicester Sq killing tourists....Awesome. Plus he used ot lean against the wall and say "I'm f****d" which was original.

The Getway was one of the most expensive games ever made when it first came out so definitely not low budget! I was never a massive fan of it but it's notable as it was the first game to do away with health packs and allow health to recharge by finding cover - an idea that seemed weird at the time but now is the norm rather than the exception.
It's an app on iPhone and Android where you can teach Chop (Lamar's dog) tricks, and also do car customisation and make licence plates for use in the game (assuming you have Xbox Live/PSN).
Been playing all day, mostly walking chop, customising cars, playing tennis and golf, doing the odd mission here and there, it's fun just to walk about and watch nutty pedestrians

The Getaway was a great game. It looks stupidly dated now, but the streets of London were pretty well mapped out - used to love being able to take shortcuts to get to places just because I knew the roads like the back of my hand. F***ing annoying when they whacked a bloody great wall up across some of them though Also quite liked some of the in-game dialogue - like shooting a bloke and calling him a muppet. That made me lol.

Really!? I cannot believe it was the most expensive! That's nuts! The maps were well rendered but it never felt like a big budget game as I played.
Rockstar games just announced 800million on opening day. That trumps any movie alltime by 500million ..... i suspect to see big money producers testing the video gaming market after this massive success ...
btw ... anybody know how to brake on the airplane? i dont want to spoil too much, but i had a lot of trouble landing that cessna on the runway and couldnt slow the damn plane down after touching ground...

Know what you mean.
I used to live on Folgate Street off Bishopsgate and looked forward to seeing our house on there and the road didnt exist in the game !!!

once you hit the ground press left trigger/r2 and it should slow you right down, also push your left stick up so that the plane would be going downwards.
As for the money, it's already happening with COD and FIFA games being released every year - now with fish that SWIM AWAY FROM YOU. Wow, like anyone actually cares. Rockstar are one of the few remaining large games companies that take a long time to churn out a brilliant game rather than trying to get a series out there every year.
I'm hopeful that EA will come up with a new model of game that rids us if annual iterations. A subscription or something. At the moment 40 quid a year is excellent value for the hours I play. But the lack of real progress in the games quality is a real shame.
