I'd like to see him back in football management because he adorns the game and couldn't really care less where he gets a job. It won't undo my gratitude or appreciation for what he did for CAFC.
I think those odds will fall if Pulis who seems to be first choice turns it down.Along with Martin O'Neill he would qualify as an 'experienced' Premiership Manager.
I wanted him to fail at West Ham (mainly because they were rivals for the drop), and I'd want him to fail at Palace. Because I hate them. I still consider him a legend though.
Wonder how that slipped into the press. If he doesn't come than he's a "greedy bastard" and if he does the Palace board have either "shown ambition" or "driven a hard bargain".
But if not Pullis then who other than Curbs. My guess would be someone out of leftfield as with Southampton.
Curbs make more than enough money from Sky and various other outlets. This is not about the money, I imagine it's purely wanting to get back into the game. It's a shame that his past interviews with Wolves and Villa fell through and have left him looking to slum it with Palarse
According to reports in the Mirror, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has emerged as a shock candidate for the vacant Crystal Palace job.
After Ian Holloway stepped down as manager of the Eagles last week, it was believed the club would look to an out-of-work manager in order to fill the position quickly as Palace are currently in the thick of an early season relegation battle.
It is believed that Tony Pulis, Chris Coleman, Neil Warnock and Martin O'Neill are in the frame as candidates for the position. However, Pulis seems to have removed his name from contention as he expressed great hesitation over taking the job. Pulis felt saving the club from relegation could be the hardest task of his career and seemingly he is not up for the challenge.
Palace chairman Steve Parish has said that he wants to fill the position with someone who has strong ties to the club. Out of those candidates, Warnock and Coleman are the only two that meet Parish's criteria.
However, Pardew does have ties to the club as he played 130 games for the Eagles. Pardew is somewhat of cult hero around Selhurst Park, after notching the memorable late match winner against Liverpool in the 1990 FA Cup semi-finals.
The Newcastle manager has been under fire for the majority of this season, after his side narrowly escaped relegation last year and they have had a mediocre start to this campaign. Add in the pressure of the appointment of Joe Kinnear as the director of football for the Magpies and Pardew finds himself in quite a predicament at the Tyneside club.
Would be great to see Super Al at Palace. There's nobody out there better equipped to turn a team of hasbeens into a team of neverweres in double quick time. He'll transform their £60million cash bonanza into two buttons and a guernsey penny in a flash!

What an early Christmas present if that classless smug twat got the job of escorting Palarse back into the 2nd division.

Sorry but even if pardew is getting stick from above, why would he trade that in for being bottom of the league? He might get sacked just in time...but unless they are sitting in around the bottom 3 ....that may not happen either.
He has a good mix of quality players at Newcastle no sane man would jump ship tomanage palace who have doubly worse players that he can't do anything with. They will get relegated by February, so it would be great but honestly its a very unlikely appointment.

Imagine Palace going down and all that parachute money going up in a great big Izale Mcleod of smoke.
