Well there is one of the 12 new signings KR was talking about done already.
I like JJ but don't really don't get the 'legend ' status for him on here.
He is past it and I hope he has signed up as coach not player as he is not the type of player that will have us fighting at the top of the division any more I am afraid.11 -
Captain of one of best ever seasons. Creator of so many brilliant memories. Not to mention a great bloke.
Rarely will all three be combined like JJ has done. Legend for me.38 -
Jacko is in the Kinsella bracket for me.
And he slapped my bum once8 -
This. The man's passion and commitment is clear and that's what endears him to Charlton fans who often prefer that over talent. That's why he's proper Charlton. He gave us some incredible memories in that title winning year and he top scored in our first season back in the championship.Callumcafc said:Captain of one of best ever seasons. More recently he's led us through some tough times and I'm sure more will come out in the future that will show just how key has been in keeping this club together. I suspect without him we'd be in a much worse position.
But above all else he gets the club. Thinks like the PC Keith Palmer memorial where he suggested the players donate their appearance fees and he asked to go to the funeral. He doesn't have to do those things but he gets that as captain of this club that's exactly what is needed.5 -
If he was a bird, I'd give her one x2

That's the first time I've managed to post a photo on here so forgive me the double vision!cantersaddick said:SCP knew. From VOTV 135.

He's one of our greatest captains of all time. Up there with Kinsella for me.10

If they can't have their own statues I think we should have JJ/Kerms hybrid (lovechild) statue outside the north stand.2

Still remaining cryptic over whether he will be playing or not next year.
I have a feeling they may announce his retirement before the game and give him a guard of honour or something.
What I don't get is why they can't let us know in advance. People will want to turn out and show their thanks if he is retiring. Seems like a cheap ploy to get people to buy programs tomorrow.0 -
I think the announcement will be around him being assistant manager next season, with Bowyer as first-team coach. In their delusional world, they think this will change the mood on the day. Probably put the training ground video on the big screen on a loop too.cantersaddick said:http://mobile.cafc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/charlton-athletic-football-club-johnnie-jackson-swindon-town-3697099.aspx

But surely if he's retiring from football and this is to be his last game, he deserves a proper send off. Not to be used as a shield yet again by this regime..2 -

Won't be. They have to give him another year as a player because he has met a trigger clause.cantersaddick said:

Not really. All this stuff is about PR to try to manage tomorrow, nothing else.Kap10 said:

I find it very sad Airman that someone like you who was so instrumental in getting the club back to the Valley can constantly see nothing but negatives all the time no matter how good the news!Airman Brown said:

How many Charlton 'legends' can you name then? He might not be the most amazing footballer but he always gave his all, always showed commitment and a brilliant player to have in the dressing room. Think back to 2011/12!Athletico Charlton said:I like JJ but don't really don't get the 'legend ' status for him on here.

JJ also says in an interview that next season will be his last as a player but that his long term goal is to be Charlton manager.9

So a non event today then. More hot air from Robinson.0

Might not be his last game but last game as just a player!
Here is my video saying thank you to Johnnie Jackson!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GkeAfxe4KE

Unless Jacko is also handing the captaincy over which is possibly what Robinson meant by with his comments and I suspect highly likely in a Player-coach role. The Red Robin said:So a non event today then. More hot air from Robinson.
