Very sad indeed. Confirmed by a family friend on a Crystal Palace Forum.
RIP David and Thank You.0 -
That's just terrible.
The fella was a natural goalscorer if ever there was.

Thats true AFKA. I remember signing one.AFKABartram said:if i remember correctly, after he started banging them in, a number of charlton fans organised a sarcastic sending of Thank You cards to Ron Noades for letting us have him on the cheap

RIP very sad news, one of the best goalscorers i've seen at Charlton all different kind of goals. Thought he was going to follow in Ian Wrights footsteps.0

I do think there should be a chance to remember him at the game on Saturday. A minutes applause / silence. Going by the reactions on this page he was a real hero for many on here and bearing in mind he seemed to have hit tough times in recent years, a chorus of David Whyte Whyte Whyte round the Valley would give the guy one last moment of support.0

Remember that one well. As well as Tom Hovi in his one and only appearance about 10 secs from the end.shirty5 said:Great Strike in the first few seconds of this clip

Will always remember that goal against Leicester. Wonderful sunny April day at Upton Park.
Used to frustrate me why Curbs fell out with him and preferred to play Bradley Allen but when his book came out it became clear why unfortunately David would never fulfil his potential. Such a waste.

Removed. Sorry if a picture of David Whyte in a Charlton shirt is inappropriate.0

RIP David. Some great memories watching him play when I was 12-14. Was great to have a striker who got 20+ in a season, something I hadn't experienced prior to him arriving. The Watford goal at home comes to mind.0

Terrible news. He was my hero like he was to many. He scored the lob (can't remember how many he scored that day?) v Watford when I was the mascot and made my day.
David Whyte Whyte Whyte.
