Any idea why looking at the overall England picture that the Conservatives have done relatively poorly in London ?
I think they've done pretty well by their standards in the capital. Inner London is typically Labour with outer London normally Tory. I guess inner London has the mix of working class and champagne socialists that are drawn to Labour.
It is like Turkeys voting for Christmas and Chickens voting for Sunday Dinner. IMO This country is going to be a stressful and difficult place to live in.
Looking like being a dreadful result for anyone who cares about our public services. More budget cuts, more job losses, less service to the public...not that they will link their voting Tory to being told the council doesn't do that any more, etc. Oh well, can't say they weren't warned.

Amazing night. You can't argue with what is projected really. Seems the Lib Dem voters have punished their party for getting into a coalition with the Tories by....voting for the Tories?
Until such time that Islam reforms and moves into the modern age rather than the stone age, the people of the UK have very good reason to be afraid, very afraid.
Have you been keeping that article up your sleeve for nine and a half years or did you trawl through the recesses of Google to find something the suited your "interesting" little opinion ?
When looked at in the context of recent events and the rising of ISIS, it is even more frightening now than it was back than. In fact if Miliband had his way such a poll would not even be allowed to be published. You may think it's a "little" opinion, results suggest that Miliband has received a big kick up the backside from millions of Brits with little opinions and a little pencil.
The fact that there's only a 6% difference in the share of vote between Labour and Tory (at the moment) shows how silly all those pre-election nationwide polls are when you have a first past the post system.

Immigrant vote? Just guessing! It doesn't really make sense seeing as London is the most affluent part of the country, which according to conventional wisdom (and the lefties) should favour the Tory vote.
I think there is a fix around here. I have not met or spoken to a single person in sittingbourne and sheppey that was voting conservatives, Gordon Henderson has been publically ridiculed and he's posters have been knocked down and/or defaced all over the place but yet he holds?
So, Boris has said let's look at a Federal UK. presumably one where Scotland gets to raise and spend their own taxes. England & Wales pocket £8bn per year. Is that where some of the "savings" come from?

What was I saying earlier about encouraging fellow Labour voters to concede defeat with class...
Also the scariest thing about all this is the ONLY good things done/achieved during the last government was down to Lib Dems now Tories are going alone the country is going to be destroyed I just hope I still have the means to get online in a couple of years to say I told you so!

London is full of hipsters and idiots who vote Labour or Green purely because it's trendy. London in no way reflects anywhere else in the UK. It's virtually a separate country.
Going to pursue an aggressive policy of flagging telling Fiiish to get to heck whenever he says something disgusting and derogatory now that the fun and games of the election preamble is over and we're up shit creek
I suppose it's down to choice Bournemouth. I try and take everything on merit.
I think near enough everyone accepted spending had got out of control and the size and growing rate of debt was becoming a very serious issue. Most people want 'something to be done' but most people also want that 'something to be done' not to impact them.
Personally I'd rather suffer a little impact now which hopefully addresses the situation than see the potential impact being far far greater when my children are older and very serious austerity would have to be enforced.
Just my view, and I'm a public sector worker whose family rely on public services more than most, and who also wants us to stayin Europe. I've no doubt I would probably be better off under a Labour rule, but countries thrive better on strong and secure governments, and that current Labour administration I believe is a poor one currently not strong enough to govern. They haven't proved themselves in any way of being more capable than the current incumbent. They now have five years to address that.
The Consertive grip of the house and nation will be marginal, so any underperformance will lead to an outing at the next election with no major damage done in rule as they never had a strong enough mandate to carry through any major change.
I'm grateful though as an Englishman that this currently looks the best result for England, though as a big supporter of the Union I think the amazing result in Scotland effectively tears up the UK in future years.

The only good things done were by the lib dems? They are fully responsible for the rising confidence in the UK economy and more jobs being created?
My industry is buzzing currently, as are many of my friends, long may it continue.

Hahaha, received a flag for this! Brilliant. Bacon sandwiches for the winners, sour grapes for the losers!

I expect all the Conservative voters were too busy commuting to their jobs in London to talk to anyone about who they were voting for. Rather typical that anti-Tories have the time to go around defacing posters rather than actually doing any work.

The share of the vote in Scotland hasn't dramatically changed since the referendum.

Better get your private health insurance ready.
It's going to be an interesting few years.
