what went wrong with the forecast poles ? they cant take into consideration the "dont knows or the people who make their mind up at the last knockings.
Red Ken Livingston on TV " SNP did for Labour in Scotland and UKIP did for Labour in Britain" no you Socialist twonk that would be England you know Kenny son that place you socialist love so much that you cant even say its name.
Of course Ken has already blamed the press and everyone else for Labours showing--right on Socialist its everyone elses fault as normal. His answer "the people have spoken they need a more left wing Labour party"----FFS deluded twonk.
SNP 1.5 million votes 50 seats---UKIP 3.5 million votes 1 seat.
If i was a Tory planner id take zero notice of ANYTHING the SNP say or do. They have no seats in Scotland so why bother--put England first for once.
Good to see Gallaway lost--but rats like him will be back somewhere.
Keep posting @Fiiish pal, I for one like reading your posts
Don't worry, I'm not going to let the sad trolls who follow me around this site bother me. Labour have been dealt a bloody nose and I'm happy.
I rest my case - By the way I forgot to put hate filled before Tory boy troll
Yes, all those times I called other posters 'prick', 'cock' or told them to shut up because I was losing the argument...oh wait, that was you and your mates wasn't it!
Calm down mate, you're beginning to look a little bit silly now.
Very interesting that the Midlands, area stayed and gained tory votes. As someone who works about 60% of my time from there or in that area, it is a very industrial and what I would bracket as working class area has become a real strong hold
This proves to me that the tory party are very much a party that the majority of hard working people can relate too
Labour definitely moved far towards their original left wing ( thanks for the link yesterday whoever posted it) roots when the country really is looking for a more left to central or right to central party and the tory party ticked that box
I agree this referendum on the EU part is something I will now have to face in a the near future but as someone who genuinely believes in the freedom of democracy and the right to choose, and I am also able to accept quite easily that the majority rule is something that you should accept and work with, that if it's decided by the majority that things must change then even if I don't vote for it to happen I will deal with it as needed
PR would mean a continuation of weak governments and ongoing coalitions. Could never work. Farage wants it, but his band of ex Tories didn't want it when they were blue, and they won't want it when they return to the Tory party in a few years.
It's hard to tell what's genuine concern, over exaggeration or sour grapes.
Can't speak for others but having worked in the public sector for nearly 30 years, under Tory, Labour, Coaltion and now looking like Tory again I have seen the effects first hand and even now there are elements within local government that have been hit so hard by the austerity policy they are barely functioning. If in 18 months time, if you haven't seen the effects for yourself you can count yourself very fortunate.
I know for a fact there are current local authority functions canvessing, as of today, to be removed from council control because they recognise the budgetary cuts they face mean it's that...or ceasing to provide any meaningful service.
I'm aware others will see it differently and I genuinely hope you never have need of assistance for a problem, whether it's social services, housing or something less critical only to find it's not available.
Yeah, not sure who found my post sufficiently funny to give it a LOL (thanks anyway I need to keep my count up).
Sadly I don't share the joke when I've seen good people doing a good and necessary job laid off during the last administration with budget cuts to some frontline services already at 75-80%.
Put yourself in the position of a social worker of my acquaintance faced with making the decision of whether to leave a child in the home but with increased supervision and support (approx cost around £10k) or removing that child into care (around £200k per annum I'm told). The obvious choices are easy to justify when they are sitting in front of their boss but it's not so easy when you're faced with more difficult cases and being forced to factor in whether there's any money left in the budget. Hilarious eh? Would you want to make that call?
Again I make NO apology for pointing out that our public services will be significantly worse in five years time than they already are but accept that others more ignorant of the effects think differently.

exactly, fully agree ... I hope we stay in for trade reasons but if the majority vote us out then I accept it ... it's how it works

Those polls before the election are pointless because they show the split of the vote on a national level but, as we've seen, with a first past the post system it doesn't really matter what share of the vote you get across the country because seats are decided on a constituency basis.
until PFI can be reversed NHS Trusts will be paying millions and millions---Labour and Tory signed up to PFI. Those contracts in most cases have another 10 / 15 years to run with huge penalties for early cancellation.
PR will never happen as the 2 big parties know what it means for them. Plus if you agree with it then you have to accept that parties from the far left and right will also be represented.
said for ages that a vote on EU is a good thing. There will be massive traction for a yes vote with all the big hitters from every party on the "stay in " side---all the media--and all the multi nationals---70/30% vote to stay in. Once there is a yes vote the argument is over and for all you UKIP lovers that has to be an end of UKIP.
Fantastic and very interesting thread this one. Love the fact that all sides are being represented and there are some good strong sensible arguments (shame about the minority who think that name calling and personal insults make them superior to others).
I for one am extremely delighted the Tories will win by a majority (means my tax bill will be a bit cheaper) but hope they address things like child poverty, social mobility and of course the NHS.
The biggest factor for me is the economy and I believe that if Labour/SNP had got in it would have been disastrous for business and the economy in general. The Tories now need stay strong with the austerity programme and reduce borrowing. I believe they will and the country will be in much better shape in five years time.
Any idea why looking at the overall England picture that the Conservatives have done relatively poorly in London ?
London is full of hipsters and idiots who vote Labour or Green purely because it's trendy. London in no way reflects anywhere else in the UK. It's virtually a separate country.
@Fiiish I'm not a hipster and I voted Labour so that must make me an idiot
Haha that's good to hear!
London is mostly decent people and even without the hipsters I would wager they would still lean Labour's way, just too many shouty Russell Brand wannabes and bloggers with stupid beards and tattoos that mindlessly follow the trend.
I'll never watch Trews put it that way. Still stand by my choice though.
Ha, thought this thread was bitter but just been on facebook and the amount of aggression and whinging seems to be far more widespread than I originally thought. It would be more amusing if it wasnt grown adults lacking any humility.
Even seen people claiming that there's been some form of cheating/rigging, get a grip!
It has been a very strong and thought out thread, and the way that most can ignore the abusive and brash way that some have tried to ridicule others in a holier than thou way shows charlton life in a very good example of the UK public

9.5% vote gain since last time is incredible.
Time they system changes - 3.7m votes gets 1 seat. 1.4m (SNP) gets 50 plus seats.
Must admit i voted Conservative but fish' and his manner of postings nearly swayed me to post the other way.

If the SNP are strong and the Scottish better off, then will we ever see a swing in England that ever elects Labour?

Hope the remainder of this thread stays civil.
Though can see Farage trying to cling onto his leadership after he loses.
Clegg and Miliband resigning is a foregone conclusion.
