You could be right mate, I'm only going on a Brentford fans comments.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Surprising, remember Leicester playing down our place. Absolute rock in the middle with so much pace, certainly impressed me. Guess he was up against some pony striker we had.

Has Eagles not left the club?1 -
Do we really want him, or just want him to tell JBG that Wolves is "Hell"???guinnessaddick said:

He was meant to be part of the Gudmundson deal I think, can't see Wolves letting us have him unless they get him. Not really all that anyway.0

It says 'according to the charlton way' which is probably the worst blog I've ever read so I wouldn't take to much notice. All the bloke does is copy anything he sees on Twitter.guinnessaddick said:

Are there any fans in that stadium? Looks like a weird publicity photo. Utterly depressing IF we get him as some makeweight in a JBG deal.0

Oy I write for the Charlton Way.Greenie Junior said:

Charlton Way is a depressing list of rumours.1

The youth match reports are well written though.

There is a staggering lack of English on that site. I wouldn't believe a word of it1

I don't tend to read blogs, don't have the time. I recommended Dick to do the youth reports after I saw them asking for someone on Twitter.
Think they are relatively young ( other than @dickplumb) and if it makes them happy then let them get on with it.

2 year contracts are rubbish - hard to win with them. Maybe that was all JBG was willing to sign.1
-
Works both ways of course. Yes JBG's two year deal looks like poor business because he's been a huge success On the other hand we have signed Lepoint for example who doesn't look much like he's going to work out for us so a two year deal max would be spot on.MuttleyCAFC said:2 year contracts are rubbish - hard to win with them. Unless you are paying a top dollar premium for players it's always a gamble.

It's a gamble regardless of the quality of the player - especially when moving to a new country.ShootersHillGuru said:

Falcao and Bale have been pretty much slammed for their contributions this season.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing......but the fact is you can never be sure how a player is going to work out when coming to a new team.
2-3 year contracts seem about right to me as a starting point.

Agree in general with the point about contract lengths, don't think Lepoint is the best example though - immediately apparent that he wasn't up to the required standard, both to supporters and Guy Luzon, hence he's barely featured. What was our scouting network thinking?ShootersHillGuru said:

We paid a fee and he still has two years left on his contract so I doubt he'll turn out to be cheap in the long run.Fumbluff said:

Most likely but still spent the fee and wages on him rather than someone else (opportunity cost) and still raises doubts over the recruiters IMHOwmcf123 said:

No ones not letting them get on with it, just pointing out that they're most likely not a reliable sourcecfgs said:I don't tend to read blogs, don't have the time. I recommended Dick to do the youth reports after I saw them asking for someone on Twitter.

Indeed. Baffling. On the one hand, Roland was too tight to properly strengthen (or even slightly strenthen) the team between November and January, losing the opportunity to build on a good start to the season and dragging us unnecessarily towards the relegation zone (albeit briefly in the end). On the other hand, he's so generous that he'll happily pay the wages of the likes of Onyewu and Lepoint despite getting zero return in terms of football played or any future transfer fee.Henry Irving said:

I wouldn't write LePoint off totally. He needed to adapt, but there were some subtle clues that he had some qualities.7

Panic buy for me. I hope he comes good but I think he will be moved on come Jan, if not beforeMuttleyCAFC said:I wouldn't write LePoint off totally. He needed to adapt, but there were some subtle clues that he had some qualities.

Lepoint looks a really poor buy.
No pace, poor control if he's starting for us next season we will struggle.4 -
I only saw his cameo appearance where he actually played well for about 10 minutes. Maybe a pre season etc may help, willing to give him a chance, had a good attitude from interviews. Could do better though I imagine.0
