But we don't need a huge turnover! I'm not sure that's completely good news. We just need to keep hold of the core of the team and add to it.
Just read that QPR get 20% sell on fee for Sterling if/when Liverpool sell him. Could be upwards of £8m. Liverpool paid less than £1m as a 15 year old.

In the old days a new contract had just two elements to it - how long and how much. Now the Owner, Manager, Player, Player's Agent, Player's Lawyer etc etc have to spend three months negotiating the level of the release clause.

If the BBC article is correct and Gomez has a 3.5 mill release cause written into his contract I will be very disappointed. RD has definitely missed a trick if this is the case.
I reckon the release clause would have been decided by JG and his representatives as they knew he was being tracked and probably didn't want the big clubs being put off. Not ITK but just a thought

presumably a release clause states that any bid of or more than the agreed figure in the clause will mean that the player can move should he decide to do so. If, for example, Liverpool bid 3.5 mllion and Southampton 5 million, Gomez can choose either club. CAFC however cannot hold out for the larger amount bid by Southampton because Liverpool have bid the amount agreed in the release clause. But it all depends on the actual wording of the clause in the contract

It wouldn't have even gone to a tribunal. Gomez at 17 years old would have been an EPPP payment of less than £1m + add ons. Just like Kasey Palmer.
Poyet was 19 and not eligible under EPPP rules. He would have been a tribunal case.

Should be 5-6 mill minimum.
If, for example, Liverpool bid 3.5 mllion and Southampton 5 million, Gomez can choose either club. CAFC however cannot hold out for the larger amount bid by Southampton because Liverpool have bid the amount agreed in the release clause.
