With the transfer of Gomez almost complete hopefully the transfer pot increased I'm really looking forward to some more positive news coming through soon and I believe it will. Positive thinking
Amazing that people are upset that we can't hold on to our best academy players. We lost Scott Parker when we were 4th in the Premier League and it's never going to get any better than that for us. We're a mid-table Championship team who could easily be relegated if we have a bad transfer window, that's how tight this league is and that's our standing in the world of football. Just be glad we appear to be battling for a decent fee

Exactly right. Over the course of just this one week, the apparent Gomez fee has gone from 3.5million (only) to 3.5million (with clauses to add more) to 5-6million (with add-ons) and we're now hearing of a deal worth potentially 10million pounds total. For a player who has played for us 20 times! If he goes, he goes. But he's not gone yet, and won't go cheap, that much is clear. Let's not rage at the ownership who are sticking to their guns here and holding out for a hefty fee, not when I can remember Poyet going for peanuts (cheers for that Slater) and Shelvey going for less than 2million.
This is NOT business as usual at Charlton. This is business being done pretty damn well in fact.
Could we get promoted if we have a good transfer window then? Are we allowed to hope for that or should we pay people to kick us in the nuts as we walk through the turnstile and be grateful for it.
Rumour is that successful millionaire Roland Duchatelet will be even richer after this transfer window thanks to him picking up a south London Championship club on the cheap.
"I cannot believe my luck," the charismatic tycoon told leading Belgium sports magazine, Starpricks.
" I had not even heard of Charlton two years ago but I only paid for a new pitch and some vegetarian food outlets and now I am selling their best players like hot cakes vegetarian foccacia".
"And some of their fans even think the money I will get, will be spent on new players," said Duchatelet clutching his sides as he left laughing all the way to the bank.
Give it a rest now with the whole Gomez thing the boy wants to play in the premier league and we need the money to invest in New players . All you people moaning about rd and him selling our young players need to remember before he come we was in financial ruin and the youth team was a mess he has come in and invested a huge amount in both the team and youth team and for that we are seeing kids like Gomez come through .One thing we don't know and Weird someone is trying to compare joe Gomez to sol Campbell the boy has not played one game of premiership football he will struggle to get in Liverpools team but it's what he wants so why shouldn't rd sell him.
That was me, and I was comparing the two from seeing them as 17 year olds, not Joe Gomez now compared to Sol Campbell's whole career.
Not a rumour for us but something that made me laugh. Palace looking at Iker Casillas. Palace friend of mine said "we don't need him we have Wayne Hennessey"......... Really?????
He'd be a disaster in the Premier League. Good shot stopper, although in decline. His lack of physical presence means that he'd have no chance at a mid- low ranking Premiership side. De Gea was young enough to learn to adapt but

I agree with you, although more like Ledley King. More graceful than Sol
Was released by Wycombe in 2014 after making three appearances yet failing to find the net (Spent time on loan @ Hendon / Maidenhead / Boreham Wood whilst with Wycombe).
Signed for Luton last summer but is yet to make an appearance, was loaned straight out to Boreham Wood where he scored 30-goals in 47-appearances as they won promotion to the Conference

I saw him play about four times, including whilst officiating (linesman, as it was called in those days) in a pre season youth friendly at Sparrows Lane. I know there are others who always go to the youth games, and have done for years who would also have opinions regarding young players, and more informed opinions than me. However the very first time I saw Campbell he played in a free roving role, looked like a young god in those days, and was so impressive I asked the Spurs coach who he was and the guy actually said 'Sulzeer Campbell', 'Sol' wasn't his commonly called name back then, when I saw him I thought he could play anywhere, however he was at that time head and shoulders better than the other players in his age group. I also felt similarly when I saw Richard Rufus, however he was always a central defender, and now I have also seen Joe Gomez and I would place him as equivalent to what those two were like at the same age. How much was the bet?
Strange I thought we didn't need to worry and couldnt sign until the 1st July. Pringle would have been a good signing for us. I'm sure there's better in the pipeline though.

Always amusing to see a grizzled old-timer give a cocky young upstart a slap!
Even if only metaphorically.
