According to The Argus Ben Roberts has been given permission to talk to Brighton about becoming their new goalkeeping coach. Apparently we don't want Ben to leave. Will be interesting to see if he fancies jumping ship or not.

I guess Ben Roberts being a Lad from the North East wants to return home and
join Brighton like Dale Stephens.
Nathan Jones is still the 1st team coach there as well.7 -
Should be Nathan Jones coming the other way to be our manager and Ben his no. 2
Will be a loss and another bit of continuity and stability lost.
Hope he stays.5 -
Brighton will probably up his contract to the Living Wage.
Still it's another plus on Roland's spreadsheet...4 -

Real shame if true - everyone is hugely complimentary of him at the club and he's extremely well respected as a gk coach.0

Believe he is also qualified as an outfield coach, has a sport science degree and lives in Greenwich.
Have to ask, if he goes, what makes Brighton a more attractive option.6 -

Surely B&HFC is a better career prospect for an ambitious football 'technician/coach' than CAFC .. bigger crowds, more modern stadium, ambitious owner .. one thing though .. the team was pretty awful last season0

What, the Nathan Jones who was recently overlooked for the Plymouth managers job?nth london addick said:Maybe Nathan Jones

Yes but other than bigger crowds, modern stadium, ambitious owner, a berth for your boat, good schools for the kids, fresh sea air, water sports, great walks,Lincsaddick said:Surely B&HFC is a better career prospect for an ambitious football 'technician/coach' than CAFC .. bigger crowds, more modern stadium, ambitious owner .. one thing though .. the team was pretty awful last season
why on earth would you want to go there ?

A bit concerning that Sue Parkes commented on this news on the Facebook page with "The heart is being ripped out of the Club"
She did soften it a bit with a follow up comment but she as much as anyone should have a feeling for the mood at the club. Bumpy ride etc.....
"as an avid supporter - it hurts me to see so many good people leaving the Club. All those with Charlton in their hearts are leaving for pastures new. I find it very sad."2 -
If I live in Greenwich and work in New Eltham.
Brighton would have to offer me a big pay rise, for me to consider, travelling that distance, each day.
Alternatively, I'd have to move my family to the Brighton area.
If he's happy at Charlton, hopefully he may stay.0
