    Not gonna rant (too much)

Pope, not an error the ball was slammed at him, will watch it agin, if Im wrong Ill amend.
Solly, 1 game a week is his limit I think
Sarr, Bullied all game, I thought he was supposed to be a tough guy.
Bauer, as Sarr but to a lesser degree.
Fox, oh dear he looked like the timid frightened Fox of early last season, can the real Morgan stand up please.
Cousins, poor bugger annexed out on the wing, played better in the middle, but we all knew that. Did OK
Kashi, tried to hold the team together. did OK
Ba, JJ in for next game please (if he keeps Cousins wide). he was pelt.
JBG, CP had two players on him every time he got the ball, became anonymous.
Big Mak, Did what he had to do, plus was stretching his hammy several times.
TWWW - Park footballer last night, after several attempts to beat every 'Udders player around him I found myself yelling 'pass the fucking ball you fucking prick' but he still didn't.

New Fella, tried and had Churches new Puma Spongy Boots on.
Berdych too lightweight. and positionally a little lost at times, not sure when to go forward.

We will get murdered by the Stripey twats anyone want to buy my ticket.

Huddersfield are probably better than their current position suggests.
We had a couple of good chances in the 2nd half but we didn't take them. Ditto with them as well to be fair.
It was a frustrating performance but we did create some opportunities and a little more composure in front of goal could have made a huge difference to the outcome.
I think a lot of our games will be very tight this season, we have started really well, but unless we can maintain that earlier high level of performance I think these sort of games will be pretty close affairs, going either way.

Both Rotherham and Hud's doubled up on JBG and Watt, he needed to switch JBG over to the left flank to confuse things.

Playing without a left winger is not working, he needs to decide on his middle two. Cousins and Kash in the middle and get a left winger in!

Its typical Charlton, we play well against teams that attack us. When we meet the poor sides we slip up as they nick a goal and park the bus.

The world has not ended. We will play worse than that last night and win this season.

    COYR's

I'm glad you referenced the Watt/JBG bit Rob Roy. They are our two most dangerous players. Other managers/teams only have to do their homework and know that if you restrict them, you restrict us.

Watt had a poor game last night, and was guilty of trying to do too much on his own. However, I remember an incident in the 1st half when he got the ball and had 3 players on him pretty much straight away. It's too many.

CP had obviously told them to get tight on him, and however good he is at dribbling and running with the ball, he's not Messi. I believe a few of the times he ran into trouble was also down to the fact he had no outlet. As he and JBG are our most creative players, it must be frustrating for them if they have the ball and see a lack of movement anywhere else.

Unfortunately they're both going to be marked well for the remainder of this season, so we have to find a way to overcome that. Despite both having mediocre games in the last 2 matches, I'm confident they both have the talent to start hurting teams again, but we need others to help give them the space to do damage

Oh boy that was a shocker of a performance!
Right from the off Huddersfield were in our faces and we got bullied all over the pitch..How many more times is Cousins going to be played out on the left before Luzon works out he can't play there?

Stinkers from most of the team but hay ho such is life.Back to business on Saturday at Blackburn.

Please don't play like that against Palarse or we'll get a proper hammering.

    COYR!

I thought Bauer had a good game. Not sure why everyone is writing 'Bullied' after his name. He saved us from an almost certain 3rd goal

And one last thing before I forget about last night for ever and move on with my life.

What on earth was that free kick we got just outside their penalty area in the first half all about? Against Huddersfield last season, we got a free kick in an almost identical position and JBG curled it straight in. Last night, he stood over the ball ready to do it again only to see Kashi run up and toe end the ball straight into the wall.

We have got one of the best dead ball free kick specialists in the country here at the moment. Use him.

Completely agree. I suspect the logic was that Udders would be focussing totally on JBG therefore Kashi could take them by surprise. Worked a fookin treat eh!!!!

We didn't play well but once Huddersfield were ahead they could bank up in front of us (often 5-4-1) and there was precious little space. We did have lots of shots/chances but I think Ba was the only one to get one on target? (apart from the goal). Bergdich will be disappointed not to have hit the target from his big chance.

If Diarra was carrying a knock then we were right to rest him. We don't want him missing a whole load of games and last night showed why.

Sarr will be need lots of work in the coming months on the training pitch & in the gym to improve the physical side of his game. It's clear he has excellent ability on the ball but needs to learn how to win headers against centre-forwards (although Miller was especially strong in the air last night) and generally toughen up. He was also probably very nervous playing his first league game and knowing that he had to fill Diarra's boots.

Against sides who pack the defence, it's especially important to score first. We had chances to do that against Rotherham (Cousins two good efforts) but didn't give ourselves that chance last night through poor defending. Fox was beaten and Sarr did the hands behind the back attempt to block the cross (don't like that method...it's too wishy-washy) and then obviously Pope couldn't stop the shot.

After that we were chasing the game and set-pieces looked our best bet, allowing us to get all of our big players into their box. Huddersfield kept us at bay well and broke effectively through Scannell and losing Makienok late on was a big blow but there was no point wrecking him so soon after his previous hamstring problem.

Guy Luzon is still learning about these new players and what their capabilities are. He doesn't strike me as being unintelligent and I suspect he'll get things sorted out.

Where to start.pope im sorry just not good good enough.too many mistakes at this level.doesnt bring any confidence at all.solly is solly.only one who shows any passion and never gives up.bauer is class and has been our best signing by far.as for sarr no he wasnt great but he tried.needs confidence and the more he plays that will come.i think he'll come through it.hopefully one for the future.dont think fox deserves the stick his getting.yes had a mare for the goal but had no support all game down the left.cousins kept drifting into the middle.had a very good game against qpr and hull so can do it at this level.dont know whats happened to jbg.maybe try him on the LEFT.not rocket science is it.ba not a great game but him and kashi too similar so it should be cousins and either kashi/ba.yet again its not rocket science.cousins is a CENTRE MIDFIELDER.watt and makienok dont look fit.watt seems to be playing too deep as he isnt getting any service up front.overall not happy with last 2 home games but only 7 games gone and 39 to go so no need to panic.if it was 7 games left then yes it would be panic time.come on you reds++

I don't ever want to see Cousins on the left again.

Time after time Fox was getting the ball and looking down the left for a pass and there was no one there. Cousins, Watt and Mak ALL in the middle of the pitch. Pointless.

Is Bergdych not a LM/LB surely any left footed, left sided player is better out wide than a non Leftie?

Could fox do a job at LM and Bergdych in defence?

wasn't there but I'll be at Blackburn this weekend and am worried that we'll be mullered .. 1 point from 2 home games against 2 of the bottom 3 clubs is not really acceptable .. I have no idea whether the team was outplayed AND outfought, the former is acceptable, the latter is definitely NOT .. if we can get a point on Saturday against another bottom 3 club (I'm using pre Tuesday night standings) I'll be happy and relieved ..

As for Powell coming 'home' and getting a win .. MOVE ON .. Powell has and Powell addickteds should do the same

Last point, Diarra has played well whenever I've seen him, he works well with Bauer .. why was he dropped and YES I know Sarr scored and that is welcome .. BUT .. that is not really what he's there for

''Terrible for the goal, but have to accept he's still learning.''

Read this comment about Pope on the players marks page.
Believe he is 23 how much longer does he need learning?
IMO Fox and Pope not good enough for Championship football.
Let's hope Henderson is back soon!

Seeing Sarr struggle against Miller, you wonder if a more experienced CB might have been better, someone like Roger Johnson who has had years dealing with the physicality of the English game.

Similarly, not offering Eagles a contract made sense at the time, as he did nothing special and we "had" JBG and Bulot. As we subsequently lost Bulot and signed no replacement, Eagles would have been a nice option to have. Still a free agent incidentally

Saw Gary Bowyer on the train back to Cannon Street with a couple of his assistants. Bet he can't wait to get stuck into us Saturday after that shower of shit performance.

Pope is a liability and I really don't rate him (didn't even before last nights horror show) but dropping him now and throwing Mitov in at the deep end could do more harm then good. Fingers crossed Henderson isn't too far away from first team action. If Cousins can't/won't play left then either jog Ba on for him in the middle or don't play him at all. The number of times I saw Cousins, Watt (seen at his selfish worst last night) and Makienok all standing in a straight line was staggering.

Good question but have we got one? As long as its not Cousins.

Was absolutely dreadful from start to finish, Watt had a stinker.
Fox and Pope will be scapegoats. Last night showed up the difference between Fox and Wiggins with Fox's inability to travel with the ball down the left side.
Got to give credit to Hudders, really defended well and gave us so little gaps to exploit. Whitehead & Hurs ran the game first half and Scannell was constant threat all night.
Supply line must be much quicker to JBG
Cousins must play in the centre
We don't have a left winger

P.S This rubbish about keeping CP in a job is so cringey and embarrassing

Sarr needs a few games, don't think he's going to be as bad as some are making out. Not a bad decision to play him last night.

Pope needs a bit more concentration. Can you teach that?

Fox had a bad game but so does everyone.

Watt needs to remember he's part of a team.

All round shite performance made worse by the fact it was against a team that'd previously not played well - although they did last night.

Guy's theatrics only look good when we're winning. More than any last night was his fault tactically.

Stop playing Cousins left you tool.

I think that the obvious comments have been made here so I won't prolong the agony. Just a few points, Vetekele has obviously not recovered from his injury, he is nothing like the player who started last season for us. I'm sorry but only a complete idiot would contemplate putting him on at this stage. The same idiot took off our big defense troubler when we needed him most. Finally Watt looks as if he couldn't care less, perhaps signs of an attitude that has previously upset other managers ? I trust that our classiest player enjoyed his view from the bench !

said it before but Mak was feeling his hamstring before he went off, pretty sure he wouldn't have taken him off otherwise when we needed a goal

I'd hoped Saturday was just one of those annoying results that could be rectified last night - it wasn't. Two teams who've both risen to the occasion against us but will probably finish in or around the relegation places have exposed our weaknesses. With JBG and Watt well marshalled we offered very little threat anywhere else. After a very promising start we've now seen that like most teams in the division we need to be at our most intense to get a result; otherwise well-drilled but mediocre teams will find it too easy to snuff us out.

JBG always drifting inside means we're left with Ba, clearly a CM, doing his limited best to overlap on the right, or Solly, possibly struggling with two games in four days. On the left we all know that Cousins won't run the flank, it's not Fox's natural game, and even with Bergdich on, we made very little impression. I understood he would bomb on from left back once McAleny came on but surprisingly he appeared to have been told not to, even when we were desperate in the last few minutes. Not easy to play two genuine wide men without getting overrun in midfield but the Huddersfield pair did a great job.

Not offering any simplistic solutions here but last night our limitations reminded me for the first time under Luzon of the shortcomings that have held us back for years now. In most games under his leadership we've been very positive, very determined, and very hard to beat, and his substitutions have often made a genuine difference. The Rotherham game was more disappointing than worrying but last night showed me we've still got a long way to go. That said, mid-table isn't the end of the world.

First game of the season today and was really looking forward to it, that lasted less than 5 minutes.

We were all over the place from start to finish, the first half was awful with Ba, Pope, Sarr and Watt for me being the main culprits.

Yes, the spine of the team !

So its all your fault then @Greenie

If you had given it a bit of "Mr Watt, if you would be so kind as to lift your head to appreciate the positional opportunities of your fellow teammates" he may well have passed the f***ing ball and everything would have been ok.
