RD can't sell & spend and KM can't communicate & resign
What is the outcome you are hoping the protest yields ?
Will you be there on Saturday ? Perhaps, you'll be too busy posting your snide remarks on here ?
What is snide about asking what the ideal outcome is ?
Chill yourself.
Yes I am hoping to get there on Saturday - it's my elder girls birthday party but the early KO helps as I can get back in time, as long as I can avoid the usual 4 pints after the game with my dad. What time is the Rose of Denmark open pre match ?
Personally i would wait until at least after January to let the dust settle as at present it is very foolhardy. So for that reason im out!!
You're so right. A protest every two or three months is the way to get things done.
Good to see this carrying on. I think KM honestly believed her little PR stunts would put an end to any form of protest. I'll be there in black and white.
In truth all it will do is act as a negative to the club. KM and the board are surely aware fans are not happy with some the descision making., but protests may not be the best thing at a time when morale is already low and there isn't really a solution as far as removing RD. Wanting RD out is great in theory, but one thing missing is a billionarie rolling up in his bentley willing to part with a few million on a non profitable club (at present),and that shouldnt be too hard to find will it?.........
From the original "Spell it out in Black and White" thread
October 21
Following on from the "Write to Katrien" thread I felt that there needs to be a purpose to such a campaign, one that isn't just counter productive abuse as seen from a few on that thread but which aims to achieve something, however limited and unsatisfactory that might be to many. But it is has to be something concrete and measurable, something to aim for.
Many will say that "we just want them out" which is a legitimate view but not likely to encourage compromise or communication.
It also has to be something which can been seen and which, if it takes off, becomes harder and harder for Katrien, Roland and the media to ignore or claim they are unaware of.
And it needs to be something that most fans can buy into and join in with without violence or missing games
So here goes.
Spell it out in Black and White
The aims are:
- That by the end of the current season the board spell out exactly and with time frames and budgets what the business plan is for Charlton Athletic
- That by the end of the current season the club opens meaningful and two way dialogue with fans through public meetings attended by board members, regular articles on the clubs OS and any other avenues they choose.
- That the club immediately bring in and follows a policy of 100% response to all non-abusive letters and emails from fans and that the club publishes a list of senior managers with their emails so fans can contact the correct person directly.
- That the club create, by March 2016, and publicly invite membership from the fan base for a marketing working group to work towards having 20,000 gates at the Valley on a regular basis.
Why Spell it out in Black and White. The colours are part of our club colours and we won the FA Cup in white shirts and black shorts. They, of course, are also the colours of printed text.
The message to the club is "spell it out in Black and White" ie what are you doing and why.
Fans can show their support by wearing black and white badges, shirts, scarves (ala Man Utd fans yellow and green scarves), banners and this will be a visible display that can be seen in the stands, on the sofa and elsewhere. Change your icon on here or facebook if you want
It's a simple message that can be repeated to Katrien, to Roland and other staff "Please spell it out in black and white"
Fellow fans, feel free to laugh, to ridicule, to ignore, to say it is too much, too little or too late but it is something.
And is that, or something similar what appears on the back of the latest flyer / poster to let everyone know what the B&W campaign / protest aims to achieve ?
It's a show of force and designed to let KM and RD know that this 2% figure they spout is wrong. It's to show solidarity of fans and to air displeasure at the way our club is currently run and the strategy that isn't working - in a way that isn't offensive.

How some aren't getting that I'm not sure?
Some people get it and disagree, which is fine.
Others are just trolling, which is as sad as it is pathetic
The main argument against this well organised and passive protest seems to be "what are the eventual aims and end goal - you wont get RD to sell" etc. Why does everyone need to be well versed in this? Why do all protesters need to have a clear idea of future strategy?
I don't agree with the oppression of Palestine by Israel and the systematic murder of it's citizens - so I protested. Are these people saying that all attendees should have a clear plan for an end to the conflict? Or is it ok to just say "I'm not happy with this situation and I want to make my voice heard"?

something similar, it was posted by Addickted to the reds earlier in this thread

You managed to get the word 'troll' into play before 930 - good work.
Is an explanation of the campaign / protest aims on the back of the poster ? It will help people understand what the black and white bit means.

If KM and the board are aware that fans are not happy with the decision making then it is odd that she is suggesting that this unrest is constituted of just a troublesome 2%. Different people will have different ultimate aims from protesting but if nothing else, if Saturday is successful then she will no longer be able to spin that particular yarn.

And you managed to answer the summons in record time ;-)
At the recent meeting with fans, Charlton chief executive Katrien Meire suggested that it was only 2 per cent of fans who are unhappy with the way the club is being run, despite it having five head coaches in under two years, three major crises on the pitch and numerous problems off it.
While it's great that the team has won the last two games and Meire has started to talk about having more discussions with fans, the Spell It Out campaign and Voice of The Valley believe this is just the time to keep up the pressure and show her that she is wrong about the extent of ongoing dissatisfaction.
We've therefore come together to ask fans to join a 60 second demonstration in the second minute of the televised game against Ipswich, holding up A4 posters to show the extent of the 2 per cent and joining with a chant of "stand up for the 2 per cent".
This is not a protest based on gender or nationality. It doesn't focus on any individual or demand the owner spends more money. It is legal and respectful. It simply reflects a demand for the club to be run in a more professional and intelligent way, and for the ownership to work with supporters to strengthen the club.
It is intended to be a proportionate show of the strength of feeling that doesn't have any impact on supporting the team, but does get the message across to Meire and the TV audience - in the UK and over in Belgium. Of course the black and white campaign continues at the same time - and indeed the posters will be black and white.
If you are willing and able to contribute a fiver towards the cost of printing the "we are the 2% posters" and/or help distribute them outside The Valley, please inbox myself.
We are also providing a downloadable version here - the version distributed on Saturday will also explain the rationale behind the protest.
sorry Henry but the new version is actually the first post on page 4 of this thread, copied below

I like the ideology that the owners work with fans to strengthen the club, hopefully the fans are prepared to work with the current owners in this respect as well. Unfortunately there are a fair few posters that seem unwilling to work with the current regime and express an opinion that they want complete change / new ownership! It is the views and opinions of these people I dont support. Whilst the poster itself does not profess to represent these individuals I do feel that they are using this campaign to further their own radical views and therefore I feel the demo will be seen as not just about ideals such as seeking greater dialogue and working with the current owner and CEO but a demonstration against them. Because of this currently I wont support it. Apologies!
I don't believe Katrien is capable of spelling it out in black and white, because she doesn't know herself. Whenever she answers a question she seems to do so in a way which poses even more questions. This is the same person who informed us that all the managerial changes have been a success. Dialogue with someone who only seems interested in presenting propaganda on Roland's behalf will be a horribly frustrating experience for any brave souls who take part. The black and white campaign is one way of expressing dissatisfaction but I would be amazed if it achieves the aim of eliciting an honest reponse.
So just to be clear, you are not backing the campaign, even though you agree with the campaign, but because of some individuals who might / might not be connected to the campaign?

You can perfectly well believe that it would be better if Duchatelet and Meire were gone while supporting the trust in engaging with them in the meantime. The two aren't mutually exclusive or even contradictory. Equally, there are people on the trust board who support this protest to my knowledge, but that doesn't mean that the trust is supporting it. The point is that there is one thing on which a large number of people are agreed, which is that it is far more than 2 per cent of supporters who are unhappy with the way the club is being run. Those people can come together on that point, whatever their view on longer-term strategy. To argue that because some of them may differ on other points they shouldn't stand together where they agree would appear crass to me.
So just to be clear, you are not backing the campaign, even though you agree with the campaign, but because of some individuals who might / might not be connected to the campaign?
That's fair enough though isn't it? "I agree with your aims, but I'm not sure I trust your motives enough to back you to stick to them." Not saying I agree with that, but it's a fair position to take.
This is a protest to show how misguided KM's claims were about "2% of fans". That is all this protest is. Surely that draws together many people? It's for everyone who is dissatisfied with how the club is being run regardless of those individuals end goals.

Agreed (though I think it is a shame), just wanted to clarify what he meant
Isn't it true of life in general that, however obvious an argument is, there will always be a very very small minority that will not agree. It's not because they are trying to wind people up nor is it necessarily a calculated deliberate act. The fact is they just can't help themselves. I am sure it is genetic.

Weirdo.
I'll be wearing my black and white scarf with pride whilst watching the match from afar.

What's your opinion on it?
And for that matter the trust's standpoint.
