A lot of people getting carried away. Yes they seem like decent signings but if Lookman, Watt, Vetokele, JBG, Cousins, Tex, Bauer, Diarra, Solly aren't here at the start of the season I don't think it will look that clever will it. Thing is none of us know how it's going to go. Cautiously optimistic but I just don't trust these idiots.
Spoke to another fan today. Some people will never be happy, regardless.
Signed one, potential two decent, proven, experienced players in. Moan If we signed one, unproven, non experienced foreigner, moan.
Lose lose
Each to their own. Personally I'm looking forward to cheering the boys on next year!! Not entirely convinced upstairs will remain settled, but hey ho. Support the team ay?
No one is saying that Holmes or any of the otheres arent any good. And no one is moaning about the signing and potential signings. They are simply saying this in itself isnt enough to change peoples minds.
With the expected outgoings I still expect our squad to be in the same shape it has been at the beginning of the last two seasons. That is:
11/12 decent players 5/6 hopeful punts The rest made up of youth players.
That hasnt been enough to survive the championship in the last two years (we got lucky year before last) and its no way going to be enough to challenge in League one. Why dont we wait and see before making an assessment.
I am happy with the signing (and rumours) and would love to be proved wrong on the squad depth thing but i just dont trust their ability to get it right even when they try.

I reckon we'll see 5-6 debuts on the opening day.
I really think it could be more than that and that's why it's so hard to get too excited or pessimistic. I do think Slade could put a decent team together and he will have to do what Powell did, not only get decent quality players in but also gel them together quickly. It's a good start don't get me wrong I just hope they support him fully and I have my doubts about that.
Jury is still hearing the case, still a bit early to be calling a verdict.
Am still very happy with having a manager who looks like he's got a bit about him in a way that I can relate to, a head scout who may have a clue what he's doing and will be setting up a structure (source slade's opening interview), a decent midfielder and hope we get the other two mentioned as well.
Although the regime is well capable of screwing up anything and everything as we have seen repeatedly, there is cautious optimism from me today as a result of steps being taken in the right direction.
Not that I'd want to be here, or the regime to be with us, but let's hope when the pre-season squad plays its first game, we have a good squad, and that we hold it together as the temptation comes in to sell some of our championship players.
A journalist on Twitter claiming Ajose and Novak have signed and will be announced tomorrow. Kieran Agard was apparently the alternative choice to Novak but we couldn't afford both.
Agard only ever had one particularly good season and that was a few years ago. Considering Novak is on a free and Agard would command at least 500k I'd say it seems that Novak is the better deal with money spent elsewhere in the squad.

Lookman will go but I doubt anyone will take a punt on Solly with his knees and I reckon Pope will stay to play games.
Think we have a decent chance of keeping Pope and Solly but there's always interest in them. If we were to lose Lookman I'd love to try and nick Roofe from Oxford, just (by the looks of it) beat Leeds to Ajose so reckon we could get him.
Charlton also held talks with Bristol Citys Kieran Agard incase Novak deal Fell through. A case of Agard or Novak, but couldn't afford both.
That's interesting if true. The big unknown for us, but hopefully not Slade is who of the big earners/big value players will stay and who will go, as that will determine a) where the gaps in the squad will be b) how much money will be available (transfers AND wages) for new players
For example if the likes of Kashi and Bauer say they definitely want to stay, and Slade wants to keep them, then that will be transfer income and wages that Slade can't spend elsewhere
Indeed if we sign some decent players (for this level) then some of the senior may want to stay, despite everything that happened last season.

Leeds won't be after Ajose, they terminated his contract last September.

Yeah some people will never be happy with unnecessary relegation and the deliberate destruction of a clubs identity. Weirdos.
I'm not happy with unnecessary relegation of course. However what's happened, has gone.
All about tomorrow, the day after. With the signings being made, it's a step in the right direction.
Do I think RD/KM can recover the damage made? Of course not. Would I prefer another consortium in charge? Of course I do.
This, the regime can take big steps towards a truce by allowing Slade to do his job, giving him the tools to do so and getting rid of that sofa.
However this is only the first step, whilst I still back the team I will not back the regime, they have been terrible for two and a half years and it will take more than a few good intentions for me to forgive them.
I actually think Lee Novak could be a very shrewd signing.
Should be at his peak, will be wanting to make a success of it and is likely to want to settle some roots somewhere and establish himself.
Ajose looks like he is an out and out striker but I noticed he didn't get mobbed by team mates when he scored.....I wonder if he's a bit of a lone wolf. Not a bad trait for a striker but I am desperate to see some togetherness in the squad
Really hope Holmes succeeds and isn't another Danny Green - time will tell.
I do wonder though if we have done these 3 deals almost simultaneously as that's about it for financial outlay. We didn't want to show our hand so have done the 3 main transfers at the same time and will now say "We've spent our money and will now deal with freebies"
Although the signings, if all are definite, seem good on paper, we still need to know who we are going to lose before we get excited. Will support the team as last season but not the regime.
I agree Hants. I've accepted Jorge, Igor, Jordan, Paddy, JBG will be gone. I just really hope Ade stays. If any of the above do too, I'll be delighted.

Can't believe he's only 27, thought he was much older than that now
His League One stats each season is also more impressive than I thought, only once has he failed to score double figures it just seems his ability to adapt in the Championship is the struggle but maybe that was because he didnt suit Birmingham.
In regards to Holmes = Danny Green, dont think its a bad thing... Green was inconsistent and didnt adapt to the Championship yet chipped in with some vital goals (Dont know how many assists he got) when we won the League especially against Yeovil and Exeter away

Dr Kish saying similar things as well.

If we also keep Teixara, lookman (dreaming now) and get deep enough cover we could be more than very decent.
If Watt stays as well, or we get a 15-20 league one big man up front, that would be better than I thought possible. We could tear a hole.
Signings are all good, but who we shop out or keep is maybe more important.
Keeping Diarra and Kashi, what else would we need ?
Think it'd be a stretch to assume that we'll keep Solly, Lookman and Pope though.

Tell that to the builders at the quarter built training ground.
Tell that to the football league who have put us in the league 1 fixtures.
Tell that to the agents looking to move their clients, our current players, on.
Tell that to our CEO who still hasn't publicly admitted or apologised for her errors.
The new signings all sound good for a league 1 club needing a total of overhaul of it expensive, unbalanced, mismanaged and relegated squad.
Shame that had to happen for Katrien to realise that basics like having a head scout were a necessity not an area to save costs.
Shame that had to happen to let a British manager pick their own players.
Yes, it is in the past but the past can and should not be forgotten after the football equivalent of some petrol station flowers.
