Do we need a CB at the minute, we currently have Bauer, Teixeira, Diarra, Lennon and Johnson?
Think the last key signing is a creative midfielder, then we have enough quality for promotion. Obviously then depends who leaves and who needs replacing but on paper at the minute, I think that is all we are missing.
Johnson will be paid off (another one). Diarra is a CM and does not perform that well as a CB. We have 3 good CB's in Tex, Lennon and Bauer. Ideally we need 4 (as no loans / long season) and that assumes all of those 3 stay.
That's why I said 'at the minute'. Diarra can more than do a job at CB plu we have Kashi as a DM. Johnson is still there so we have 5 players who can play at CB.
Not against signing a CB, but if I could have 1 player added to the current squad we have, it would be a creative player in midfield, not a CB.
That's pretty short sighted though. We are going to need another CB for sure - Tex is too expensive for League One, Lennon is decent but needs an experienced head next to him, Bauer has been injured for longer than he's been fit with us. The current squad is NOT the squad we will end up with, that squad is the one that will need a CB - so get in one in ASAP. It doesn't mean we can't be after a creative player at the exact same time.
I think some need to go before we see too much more inward activity.
That's pretty much what Slade was saying imho.
JBG at the Euros longer than expected but value should be increasing.
Tex and Cousins too expensive for our budget, Lookman might just stay, a few others Slade will want to shift (Ba, Bergdich, Cebellos) but who few others will want.

Should be a busy two months
He's just waiting for thenewbie and cafcfan1990 to come to an agreement on transfer priorities

It's incredible to me that after the horror show of injuries we had last season and the effect it had on our team there are still people shrugging and saying 'four players for a position that needs two on the pitch? Eh, it'll be fine'. I've also never understood the 'why are we buying X position when we really need someone to play in Y position' argument. We can do both! At the same time even!
It's like no-one remembers that great day when we signed Ceballos and Bergdich. Or that heady Premier League day when we signed Amdy Faye and Djimi Traore simultaneously. Actually, people may be on to something there..

Nah, just ignore him and listen to me. Cannot possibly go wrong in any way.
i think we need 4 dedicated CBs at the start of the season including Lennon and excluding Johnson.
So if it's true the Teixara is too expensive and will go (despite the fact his wages are not in the Fair okay calc, not sure bout this but he is in a long term deal just whether it started in time to keep under the radar), we need more CB.
I'm guessing the Iceland CB are now too expensive but that sort of player would be fantastic.

to be honest, I think I have been misunderstood. I guess the reality is that we need to offload a few like JBG, Lookman, Henderson before we see anymore through the door.
I was just saying, if somebody said to me now, you can have the current squad plus 1 more signing, I would choose a creative midfielder. It's all well and good saying we need a CB because X and Y might leave, but at the minute, we have 5 players who played CB in the champ last season and barring Johnson, I would be happy to play any of them in league 1 at CB, even Johnson shouldn't be too bad.
If, as expected, Tex leaves, I would want to replace him though.

4 players for a position that needs 2 on the pitch is fine, plus a few youngsters. We can't expect to have a giant squad with quality, it's not financially viable.
With regards to the buying X when we need Y, it was reference to the one more signing. As I said before, my argument was for if you could add 1 more player to the squad, it would be a CM, not a CB.
Ideally, I want the likes of JBG, Lookman, etc, whoever is going, to be sold soon so we can get the funds spend on the areas we need to improve. Needed Iceland knocked out last night...
Thinking back to our L1 promotion team, we never really had a creative midfielder, but it didn't stop us scoring lots of goals. They were shared out, and so were the assists
Yeo I agree, we need a creative midfielder, for sure.
We need replacements for leavers, for sure and this will probably include a right MF, and at least one centre back. Could also include many Meire positions.
Surely we can afford to Keep Tex for a year, if we go up his wages will be less of an issue and his value will go up. No point getting rid of guys just for the sake of trimming a wage bill if you truly believe in promotion.
Cousins and Stephens were probably the best central midfield partnership we've had since we were relegated from the Premier League. But Roland Duchatelet and Katrien Meire knew better.

I agree. One would hope that they can think more than 1 year ahead. IF we go up we will need the quality of Tex (and some of the others).
The club have gone through the process of identifying, recruiting, and paying for a player. It can be a difficult process and does not always work out.
In his case it has worked out and we now have a player that has settled in and is of championship quality. He is part of the spine we need to keep and it would be a bit short sighted to let him go unless it was for a substantial amount of money. If not, it is highly likely to cost us more in the long run.

Not me. He's alright but not that good

Completely forgot about Cellabos.

As for the title................
If Cousins wanted to stay he would stay. I doubt we are forcing him out the door. Same for Diarra and Kashi.
