Our German Addicks at the game........wearing there 'world cup shirts' before there game against my South East London side in Eltham, after match @ the Valley on Saturday.
Don't bother with the meet and greet and they'd be lambasted for having something to hide, gagging the players, alienating the next generation of fans even more etc. etc.
Were details of "fun day" mailed out with season tickets? Was there advance publicity in the local press? It did appear as if it had been organised on a whim or in a panic at the last moment, which was unfortunate. The rides in the car park were a good two thirds empty at about 2.15, when I arrived. Local children seemed to be excluded unless attending the game, but in any event it appeared Harvey Gardens residents were making an alternative free offer when I left. Perhaps there could have been coordination. Perhaps there was.
I doubt there would have been any criticism as you describe since no one would think the events sensibly aligned with a deeply unattractive pre-season match attended by three men and the proverbial dog. It's clearly not Tracey's job to organise the publicity and no criticism of the players, but the value of their input is diminished if the club doesn't promote and plan properly.

Did they get told to take a banner down?
Indeed they did?...... Something that I will be discussing with a certain individual at CAFC tommorow. They were somewhat 'confused as to why this happened'. I was not there myself, so I will see besides the 'H&S and fire certificate' protocols, or asking Mick 'E' I am sure on there next visit, they can satisfy those conditions?. We can but ask eh?......
So if we lose on a penalty shoot out in a competition this season, we can expect to be in the next round. Penalty shoot outs obviously don't count in Russell's world. He's even lying himself now. If you can't beat them Russ....join them .
As I understand it, a game lost or won on penalties counts as a draw in the club's or country's stats. The penalties are there to decide who goes through to the next round, wins promotion, or whatever the prize is. Happy to be corrected if my interpretation of the rules is incorrect.
Jose Mourhino would certainly agree with you!
Jose Mourinho Quotes: “I want to give my congratulations to them because they won. But we were the best team. We didn’t lose the game. Ninety minutes was a draw and it was a draw after two hours. We lost on penalties.” – On losing to Charlton in the Carling Cup – October 2005
Yes it is. We will all need to work together to get our club back to the way it was.
I virtually worshipped Carlo as a player, and your enthusiastic messages at time when you are looking after players are nice. You may think it is personal, but it isn't Tracey.
It is because the hurt runs so deep.
I really believe that because I am who I am, and especially because I am an older supporter (albeit one who frequently brings much younger supporters to matches) that those at Charlton look on me as an anachronistic joke who would be much better staying away, and I am afraid I can't easily distinguish the good guys at the club from the bad guys.
How on earth can we all work together to bring the club back to the way it was though?
I have reluctantly given up my season ticket after 45 consecutive years, do you think that comes easy? ironically last season a phrase you just used 'work together' was kind of used to get us to buy season tickets. Work together to build a better tomorrow was the essence of the message.
Do you think any working together happened, is today better?
In terms of contributions. Ask Carl if he remembers the little tins of Tiger Balm that I used to supply free to Jimmy Hendry the then physio? If I remember rightly Carlo used to apply some to his head as it sharpened the senses and cleared the sinuses. Indeed not long afterwards Partick Viera and other players used to take to the field with the fronts of their shirts plastered with Vic's so the strong menthol smell would keep them alert. I mention this as one instance where I would go out of my way to try to contribute to the club I love. There have been others.
How on earth can anybody working at Charlton Athletic reach out to me in order for us to get our club back?
And I am just me, look at the lapsed season ticket thread and you will see plenty of others not dissimilar.
You questioned whether Tracy could say people had a "lovely time". I told you someone did. Me.
Do you think I shouldn't be allowed to have a lovely time?
Or are you the ONLY one allowed to?
This made me chuckle....I read those 2 sentences and had an image of a really plastered upper middle class woman ranting at her shit of a husband as she holds a bottle of plonk and hiccups, sobbing about how the bastard has ruined her life by running off with that tart from accounts and walking over the remains of his cut up whistles.
I didn't see what it said but my daughter spotted the two guys removing it, be interested to hear what they say.....
It was our usual German Addicks banner. It's been on display on nearly every match we've been since October 2015. We had never problems but this time we were told by the stewarts to remove it. The stewart was told so by the security officer. He couldn't explain the reason to us. IMO he himself wasn't sure for what reason. If it was for fire reasons we would have be able to show them a certicate of approval.

Well I hope you take it up with the club. Need any help then let us know.
Update to the banner incident. I spoke to 'Mick E'. of course he had the good grace to apologise about this, and I have explained the position. I have also given him Marc's email, and vice-versa Mick as people will know is the matchday co-ordinator, and will sort this issue out, for the future, and assist our German supporters. He in fact knew of them and valued there support. I am sure this is a simple misunderstanding, and no more.

Indeed, but it keeps happening though. Last season with Seb's flag another example
Maybe it could have a couple of strips of Velcro upon which a small Roland and Katrien out mini-banner could be attached and detached depending on the circumstances.

Well someone is getting their instructions from somewhere. Surely it's not hard for the club to let its stewards know what they are supposed to be doing.
It's not a misunderstanding is it. It's like everything else the club does these days. Piss poor.

Mick will always apologise and apply common sense. The fact this keeps happening in the first place is the real issue.
Agreed by the above comments, which is why I phoned up, not that I have any official capacity to do so, but to bring this to the attention of someone that does have influence, as I knew both of the people involved.

Well, I suppose it is a misunderstanding. The club seem to misunderstand absolutely everything these days.
From the interview Russell is hoping we don't get hammered at Bury.
Can see the headline now....Charlton Buried at Bury.
No, Bury Bury Charlton
I have a better headine. .
"Hopeless pile of wank Charlton smashed by Bury because their thick as shit CEO thought that a starting line up to rival Erith would do the job this year"
Erith & Belvedere or Erith Town? As both are below Welling in the pyramid, I guess we'd beat at least one of them...

Shows me that 'Customers' are to be viewed as the enemy. This attitude has Tony Cahones written all over it.

Bang on. Continuing alienation of loyal supporters (there were only 1400 there ffs), because their idiotic and unfathomable response to criticism of themselves (Meire and RD) isn't understood by their staff, let alone their supporters. As the poster said, piss poor.

Whilst I don't think we are there with the squad yet this year, read it this thread from last year reminded me just how bad things were a week before the season started.
I had forgot that Slade put out a 'protest 11' for this match.

Things are definitely better this year. Good enough? Debatable, but it has been worse.

That was so petulant and childish, and I lost a lot of respect for him that day. It was the moment that confirmed all my suspicions that he was not up to the task.
I think they are better - and we have a better manager. The question is definitely, are they better enough? It is possible we could get promoted - that is as far as I can go.

I didn't quite see it the same way. I saw it more as a last attempt from him to show the regime just how far away the squad was only a week away from the season. It was him saying look how much I need. Back me..
He should never have been put in the position where that seemed a better option than properly preparing for the season.
