  • He always annoys me how he constantly tries to barge a player out the way instead if actually tackling. Done it multiple times this season.

Heart is in the right place, hope he makes a success of it up in Sheffield.
  • I find this extremely depressing.

I used to think fox was pony, then I saw improvement and I think he is a decent championship player.

It's depressing people got in his back, it's even more depressing that Sheffield Wednesday are a greater draw as a club for a player.

It's depressing that he hasn't managed to achieve his potential at the club he loves, and depressing he probably feels happy to be away from the Valley.

Good luck Morgan, and thanks to his dad as well if he is still reading.

To be fair they are a massive club...

Talking of which, where is piggy nowadays?
  • He's no flying wing back, but in a time when we've had countless players come and go who do not care a jot about the shirt they're wearing he was a reminder there was still players who care for the club. He never gave less than 100% and, in my opinion, that's all you can ask for. The booing and jeering is embarassing. I honestly hope he makes a massive success of it up in Sheffield.
  • I hope so too. In terms of the tackling point - it is a defenders job to push players wide and stop them doing what they want to do - that does not always involve tackling. Sometimes there is too much risk exposing yourself in going for the tackle. It is all about judgement.
  • Just had a look on right move, 75k for a 1 bed flat, Morgan's going to be able to live like a king up there!
  • I will miss him, I hope the team don't. I think he was a very good player and getting better.

    Good luck and fortune Foxy.
  • Good luck to the lad, nowhere near deserved the shite he got, especially in comparison to countless others. Good honest pro, hope he comes good
  • Sheffield Star reckon fee in the region of 700k
  • He was a Charlton baby. Good Luck. Despite all the stick he always rose above and gave it his best. Watch him go now with a club that has an owner with ambition. I bet RD has a lot of add on clauses so he cashes in if they gain promotion etc. RD is only in it for player sales and dancing of course.

Still being cleared from the pitch.
  • Good luck to him, I never rated him very highly but he did seem to give his all and, as someone has already said, thats about all we can ask. Hated the fact that he was booed and jeered and it can't have done his confidence much good. It seems to be a trait of our fans, I remember a terrible player a few seasons ago who suffered the same from the fans, his name was Simon Francis, the crowd got on his back pretty much from day 1 and from then on he couldn't kick a cows arse let alone a football, I wonder what became of him? ;-)

CL player mark stats say he wasn't getting better & in a lower division as well.

If it hadn't have been for @Leuth and a few others they could have been a lot worse.
  • I've always been critical of fox, he had cost us many goals over the course of this season alone. But on a personal note I have never really felt the need to boo him at games. Anyway, whatever he's gone now and I hope he carves a career for himself.

  • Some these post god he has gone we got a decent fee have some decency that he played during one of the most turbulent times in our history and gave all he had good luck hope
    It works out
  • The fox has been hunted down
  • I have made my views known before.

Very clearly the 8 previous professional coaches, the coaches at Wales, Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday and reportedly Derby know far less than the Charlton supporter footballing intelligentsia.

The latter 3 have attempted to sign him while none of the former over the previous 3 years sought to replace him.

Just sometimes it is worth remembering professionals just sometimes do know what they are doing.

Just how many bosses, assistant managers, assistant managers assistants have you had over the past 3yrs. Just how many different faces have you had to work with in a close team unit in a competitive environment.

Botaka, Holmes, Lookman, Chicksen, Jackson, Ulvestad, Berg Gudmundsson, Bergdich, Cousins, Harriott, Cebellos, Bulot, Cook, Eagles, McAleny have all been tried to a greater or lesser degree.

All that before we even consider the Centre Back combinations who set the platform for where any full back plays.

His main failure was that he a) was not Wiggins b) he was front and centre through a club house in turmoil.

He may not be your preferred style of full back - I always preferred a Phil Warman over a Harry Cripps, who had the turning circle of an aircraft carrier but I respected them both.

As we have seen countless times before one mans "rubbish" is another mans "jewel".

However he "polishes up" and his future turns out I thank the young man for his considerable efforts on our behalf and wish him the very best for his future. Played in squad that offers him stability, constancy and balance I am comfortable he will contribute.

If you can't have opinions on a football forum, or about football what would we talk about? Maybe we should all shut up and not say anything? The important thing is that the player should not be abused and booed and yes, he showed a good attitude and loyalty to the club so whatever you think of his worth as a player, we should all be able to thank him for that and wish him well.

Football people probably advised that Slade should be appointed. Now if Katrien studied the comments of fans of his previous clubs they would know he was a manager who would always settle for the point - the reason she stated the club sacked him! Fans can tell you a lot sometimes because if you do something for years (watch football) you gain an insight. Not how to coach it or manage a team, but why would a fan who has watched football for say 30 or 40 years not know how to judge a player as much as a manager who may be younger than the time they have spent watching games?
Quite, I remember Carlton Palmer & Geoff Thomas playing for England.
  • Pleased he's gone, both for him and the club. Hated the booing he received, but can understand it - he seemed to continually not be improving. It was frustrating to watch. Hopefully Wednesday can help him push on.

Watched so many instances where the opposition, when not in possession, seemed to force Charlton to attack down the left and the responsibility of the final killer ball often landed at Fox's feet. He rarely seemed to get that ball right, and fans then decided he was hopeless, especially as Solly does tend to deliver a better ball.

Good luck Morgan. Enjoy life at a "stable" club!
  • Always sad to lose an established academy graduate.

Had obvious limitations and on a footballing side am sure he can be replaced, but those who wear the red shirt with pride and grace have been few and far between in recent years.

Hope he's a huge success in Sheffield

He's too massive for Charlton now we've dropped so low. I hear he's now registered on Barrow Life.
  • Having watched numerous, make that 20+ players over the last few years who didn't want to be here, didn't give a hoot about Charlton, the fans but happy to pick up a living. I'd rather have a team of Morgan Foxes than any of them thats for sure.

I think he'll be a loss, what, we've replaced him with a younger faster player...... we'll see. One things for sure we'd have got a bigger fee for him than we paid for our new left back and that, sadly, is the name of the game right now.
  • The most informed comments I have seen on here regarding fox and his limitations are from @Tutt-Tutt

I can't do them justice and can't find the post so will have to go from memory.

Not fast enough to go forwards and then back so not a modern wing back

Can only turn in one direction and gets repeatedly exposed by cleverer opposition who exploit this weakness

    My views:

On the plus side, can cross the ball and doesn't get exposed if his forward LM drops back when he makes a run.

Makes great tackles and generally has a good robbery good understanding of the game.

Has been massively exposed by shite decisions about who to buy or who to put in front of him.

I think he is a good lower championship lb who can become a good upper one with stability and good coaching.

As I've said, a sad loss for us.
