A mixture of time difference and a heavy night in Colombia meant I woke up way after the match had finished, but what a win to wake up to! Fantastic result. Cannot wait to see the boys play live in a couple of weeks. Have to say fair play to robbo, he has received a lot of criticism since he started, a fair bit of it deserved but he's really won me round. Providing that's 'any position out of centre-back and left back', I'm OK with it.
We seem to be growing into a tough team to beat, one of the reasons i believe, is that we have the likes of Amos,Sarr,Fosu and Kashi all maturing at the same time in different areas of the park, all players that we had doubts about at the beginning of the season (maybe Kashi excepted), and all players that have not been involved with the negativity of the last few seasons (Sarr and Kashi have effectively been away from the club). This has rubbed off on the others and now created an atmosphere of positivity which , as they say, means that winning becomes a habit.
Slightly later to the party than usual so apologies for making you wait for the following which I'm sure will echo the words of others also at the game.
A flagging Fanny is NOT a pretty sight but our late return from holiday on Friday, followed hot on its heels by a great but tiring day in Bradford has taken its toll. From 80 degrees in the sun to monsoon like conditions on our 30 minute walk back to the station after the match ( which saw a sadly soggy Fanny) has played havoc with my equilibrium but, like our lads yesterday, I'm stepping up to the plate whilst Mr F dons his pinny in readiness for lunch.
Another brilliant away day courtesy of Grand Central & Virgin trains in the company of Marilyn & our resident wine expert, Oli ( I kid you not!) Lessons were clearly learned at Fleetwood when our 2nd bottle had to be disguised as a bush in readiness for the return journey so the decision was made to pack just one this time and supplement it with a visit to a local hostelry en route to & from the stadium. This worked a treat & we were delighted to have the opportunity to share a few words with the locals whilst we supped ....albeit that we were reducing to smiling/nodding amiably in response to the local dialect. All good fun but I think we nearly bought a ferett at one point....
A slight drizzle met us as we exited Bradford Interchange so Oli, mindful of his suave appearance, made the useful purchase of a £2.99 brolly from a local trader, cleverly positioned just outside the station. Sadly, although it survived the modest wind & rain that accompanied us to the game, Storm Brian proved a challenge too far and Oli's brolly joined the graveyard of its discarded siblings in a box metres from its birthplace... brave but totally inadequate .RIP.
Lots of familiar faces at the ground plus some we rarely see, with special mention of the lovely Addick Up North, and a hotly contested match for us all to enjoy. End to end stuff ensued with the stiff wind challenging tactics and a ref who, inexplicably appeared to single out our BFG for attention from the start. It wasn't a dirty game though although passion was clearly shown by both teams from the outset which was to be expected from a " six pointer". Our lads stuck to their task throughout and did us proud on the whole although it was a bonus to see the Bantams had left their shooting boots back in the dressing room. That's not to take anything away from our Ben who made several outstanding & crucial saves to keep a much needed clean sheet. As the players left the pitch to tumultuous applause & cheers, KR made it abundantly clear to everyone present that his keeper deserved huge credit.
Having only read scant reports of both the Doncaster & Oxford matches, we kept a special eye on the blossoming (?) Naby and were not disappointed in the least. This is one player who appears to be relishing his time under Robbo and is grabbing the opportunities given him with both feet. Long may it continue. No-one out there in a blue shirt deserved criticism with all playing their part in the victory against a Bradford team with an envied home record. Big Josh found it difficult to make much of an impact though and appeared to be carrying a knock towards the final whistle. There will be plenty of bruises for the medical team to examine on Monday but with a week until the next game, hopefully KR will be able to field the same team against the Wombles.
So, we can enjoy the lofty heights of 4th place whilst looking forward to the next challenge with some relish and optimism.
But, lest we forget, this is Charlton ......
With the prospect of more news on the Takeover front & just 7 weeks to the visit of Pompey , wouldn't it be fitting to climb into an automatic promotion position when we celebrate 25 years back at The Valley ?

I'm pleased he's improved. He's still behind Bauer, Pearce, Konsa and JDS for me
Sarr is better than Pearce in every physical and technical aspect - experience is all Pearce has over him. A potential Premiership player versus a good League One pro. I'd play Sarr every time, unless he starts showing signs of mental weakness

This. Sarr adds so much more to the equation than Pearce.
Sarr is an athlete. He has the physique and physical attributes to play at a much higher level. He needs to get games under his belt to gain in confidence but from what I've seen so far since his comeback he's going to be an important player for us.

They are just wrong on that.
Was hard to be sure from the camera angle, but it looked distinctly like Holmes dribbled the ball out of play just before we win the throw in which led to JFC's goal. That is what they are referring to but the decision was long gone and no way the goal was being disallowed to call it back for that.
I think it probably did go out of play and the Bradford bench who were right by it were pretty angry just at us ending up getting a throw, let alone it leading straight to a goal.
Possibly a slice of luck for us but I'd say we earnt that luck.
