One game at a time sweet cliche.
Superb day out for Cafc fans yesterday and great mentality by the players.
As the Wimbledon and Scunthorpe games should prove, nothing is a shay. (given)
Amos has been excellent for most of the season with a different defence in front of him every week and was immense again.
It is such a shame that Fosu is the new sicknote, though he has competition with Page and Stephy.
50/50 for me now if we make playoffs, Blackburn want to be champs and Rochdale want to stay up.

Sorry Soapbox, it doesn't work as rhyming slang. Needs to be a word that precedes a word that rhymes with given.
A better option might be 'a David' (Niven).

    Postingwithout being able to see

Massive win been out since 3.30pm for a mates (Man Utd fan) wife’s 52nd , we went up town and his 17 year old son had gone down to Pompey with a Charlton mate and I’m working on brainwashing him , he’s Man Utd but with massive leanings to our freak show.

I’ve fancied us to make the play off final since I worked out the amount of agro it will cause me cancelling and re jiggling flights to barbados during half term for the final .

Fuck that who cares the reds are going up
    E I e I e i o up the football league we go

Have no idea about the game and don’t care the result was massive

    70% play offs

100% fuck off Roland you bellend

A quick question - who appointed Bow and Jacko and who is funding the losses?

Any guarantees that the new potential owners will be preapared to fund EFL Championship losses that appear to be far greater than tier 3 losses?

    Wow wow wow

Yes Rolands astute running of our club has led to this magnificent position of nearly finishing in the League One play offs , his brilliant football brain hunted down Bowyer , his long chats with him and discussions led to Bowyer being lured to our club and I’m sure Jacko would never still be here without the calming voice of experience that is our magnificent el presidente who steered him in to this coaching role , as we laugh at how shit palace and millwall are doing .

Oh he has money so let’s be so grateful for his failed experiment, no matter how bad it has been and destroyed our clubs support and thankfully you have clocked he has money and is willing to fund these losses , let’s be deferential to him of the huge wallet and no interest in Charlton .

Why would anyone buy a football club and not see a game for 3.5 years.

Maybe cos they are unique .

In the name of Sir Chris Powell , Lord Curbs and King James Seed may your sins be forgiven .

    If Carlsberg did sarcasm.
  • A major result and probably the greatest collective vocal performance by a set of charlton fans ever and people want to change the thread to being all about Roland and a takeover. It beggars belief.

Better than the first game back at The Valley? I don’t think so.
I don’t recall any game, even that one, where there wasn't a let up in noise for the whole match. It was constant and loud throughout. It seemed like it didn’t have gaps between songs and chants. And It wasn’t just a few, it seemed like it was everyone joining in on Saturday.

  • Concerning Nicky Arose.

On the players' marks thread, he's been getting a lot of 7.5-ish scores which I think underrates what he did on Saturday. He was working all the time to try to find space, pulling their defenders hither and yon, looking to see where Mag was likely to put a flick on so he'd be there to collect it, which is exactly what lead to the goal.

An excellent performance from Nicky, perhaps at last he feels a manager and formation will appreciate it style of play and it’s eeked out that extra bit of quality that made him what he was at Swindon.

I also think Kashi is slightly underrated on the player marks. The amount of times the ball was bouncing in and around the middle of the park and he stuck his head or body in and won back possession, then would lay passes out wide to get us going again was countless. He and JFC really get us higher up the pitch and they both playing well will be crucial if we get to the playoffs.
Kashi worked hard, but understandably looked rusty to me, some of his tackles were late due to this
  • The return to the Valley had awesome support, nobody knew how it would appear or where it would come from, or who or what would initiate it, but it was everybody, and it came from the very soul.
    It was dreamlike.
  • Feels like a church in here

I tell you what is worse - I recall going to Brighton away and one of ours kept farting and thought it was funny. I mean if it slipped out by accident fair enough, but why do that and think it is funny. It was rancid too!

Not fishing for an argument, but 2500 addicks standing much much much > 2500 addicks sitting, is what made the atmosphere, hats off to the oldies and the kids who stood!

As long as you was alright
Well judging from the noise throughout, euphoric applauds at full time, away fans off all ages with smiles on their faces I’d guess myself and another 2400 or so was alright too.
The bloke in the toilets with a burnt leg wasn't happy

Did he burn it standing up?

Can you imagine what it was like with 70k in the ground. Less chanting I expect, but the cheers and oohs and aahs must have been loud!

Precisely. Although ideally the word you use should lead you on to the next word almost automatically. Like Ruby does for Ruby Murray - for curry. David is more likely to lead you towards Beckham, so David more likely to be rhyming slang for Peckham. But if people used the phrases often enough they catch on.
Lillian Gish for fish. For many years Lillian Gish was the best known Lillian.
    This needs its own thread.

The transport department at ITN, and to an extent the camera department, used to debate rhyming slang endlessly. Some in the transport department were genuine cockneys. Bow bells and all that.

The wide open terraces can't have helped the atmosphere though

Better than the home leg of the Ipswich play-off game?

Yes that was pretty special - the stairs on the Covered End were literally shaking as I walked up just before kick off!

  • The Bristol City 5th round replay was pretty special too, especially when Kim Grant(?) got the clinching goal

The drawn game at Aston Gate giving rise to the replay was quite noisy 'You'll never get a ticket'!
  • Just picked up the local rags, Pompey !
