I know there is a Charlton man in the way but their penalty looks crazy!!

Bielik pokes the ball away and then does it again before tripping over Boyce
Looking at it again, I think it’s Aribo with the flick on (though he was surely close enough to bury it) and Pearce volleyed it in (not headed). Cracking corner from Ward.

“I was pleased with my personal performance but more importantly it’s about the team and I thought everyone gave their all and put their bodies on the line. That’s what it is about. [Manager Lee] Bowyer’s come in and said that. Away from home on Tuesday nights, we haven’t had that in the past. The last few games everyone has given their all. It’s showing now – as Bowyer said we’ve got that side to us as well. Resilience. We know we can do better tonight but we can be very effective and are one of the better teams in the league.

    Still buzzing from this

Sorry to hear you took a blow to the bonce in the celebrations @SE7toSG3 - don’t THINK it was me! Wild moment though, so wouldn’t rule it out

Burton could have played until tonight without scoring again . The charlton defence looked very solid and won almost every ball from Burtons corner kicks. When Burton got a shot in it was often blocked by a Charlton player.
Glad Pearce got winning goal my man of the match.

Up front Taylor was top man but Grant and Fosu did not play well. Both will have to play better if we are to get points from are next two league away games,

I thought Taylor and Fosu were poor and Grant did well.

Did anyone else in the seated section pay attention to Taylor's antics towards the lino? Comedy gold. Called him a fkn prick, shit c u next Tuesday and obviously put on a show when he had to collect the ball near his feet. Also there was a moment when we were closing down and as he ran towards their number 14 he was barking at him to put him off

Really? Stupid if he did, Nelse got sent off for that in a televised game and Taylor would have no complaints if he got his marching orders.

Sure looked like their guy threw himself to the ground for their penalty.

Great saving tackle by Sarr, if he gets that wrong it's a pen and probably a red card depending on the referees interpretation of the force used in the challenge and or deliberate as last man.

Heart in the mouth moment that’s for sure.
You could see that Nabby was going to make a tackle and that it had to be spot on or would be a penalty. Huge sigh of relief a second or two later when all the pieces fell into place and all was well.
Doubt we’ll see a better tackle than that all season......the guy looked odds on to score and a red card would have been the result had it all gone wrong for Nabby.

Unless the tackle itself was worthy of a red card, it's only a booking to go with the penalty. If it was outside the box, it would be a red card. They changed the rule this season as penalty and red card was regarded as a double punishment.

    Not necessarily according to Law 12 it depends on the referee's interpretation of the attempt to play the ball, see extract here;

'Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offending player is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.) the offending player must be sent off.'

Pearce has two touches on the ball and maybe caught their guy on follow through for the second. But Boyce was never in possession of the ball. How is it a penalty?

Crikey - can't remember the mild mannered Garry Nelson ever getting sent off for us - who was that against?

I think our offending player for their pen was Bielik (blue boots) but I agree with your sentiments and we weren't happy with the man in black 😡.

    Was definitely Bielik.

Was it Wolves? It was an ITV televised game too, and as Nelse mentions in his book ITV kept repeating it as one of their "going into a break" funnies!

Kevin Nolan's views on the match.
A gang of bold-as-brass Cockneys masquerading as serious League One promotion pretenders were grimly hanging on to a thoroughly undeserved point when, with two minutes of normal time remaining, they smashed through their stunned hosts’ resistance and made off with not one but all three points.
Nottinghamshire police are on record as stating that the heist was as brazen as any recorded within their county borders. And it’s worth remembering, this is where Robin Hood made his name.

What a brilliant writer Kevin is, humour and fact mixed together to form a perfect write up. Thank you if you read this.

Was just reflecting on this game today and remembered a tactical switch that I thought was pretty spot on. Their number 8 Hesketh was having a great game down the right and although Naby was staying with him he was always managing to get a cross in which was resulting in panic clearances/corners. Now I'm not sure if Bowyer made this call or the players but Solly switched with Naby cause Solly is a better one on one defender and if the cross does go in it's better to have Naby jumping up for it than Solly.

Maybe it was a coincidence and I'm wrong but if it was I like little tactical changes like that

Probably Wolves, may have been WBA. We lost 0-1.

Thanks. I hadn't heard the rule in that detail before.

He could also have gone on the last man ruling.

But only if he hadn't genuinely tried to play the ball - see the explanation by RedChaser a few posts before yours.

good report, BUT, Burton is in Staffordshire
Which is why Nottinghamshire police made a statement. Surely your not expecting sense from Old Bill, are you?
