  • Last over the of the day and the Aussies have three helmets placed in a row behind the keeper.  I know they're typically not very bright, but... why?
  • Rory Burns has joined Boycott, Lamb and Flintoff in Batting on all five days of a test match.

    Respect to Rory and Jason.
Roy can garner some Kudos if he can bat long into tomorrow afternoon.

    Yes.  Weather permitting.

    So was I !
    Was it in Pakistan ?

I assume it was after the Ashes in 2005/06 when England played in Pakistan and before the injuries occured ?

Hasn't he batted on every day of Test match cricket this summer?

Since when has Rory Burns nickname been Freddie ?

Or do you mean that Rory batted every day of the Ireland game as well ? (No he didn't)

Yes, was out 1st morning, came in with Leach 2nd evening, batted 3rd morning.
  • Was Flintoff’s weather  affected?

Cant recall him batting a whole day.
  • We left early. As did a lot of people.
Dont know the full details, but Roots decisions were strangely erratic all day..
No Woakes in morning (was he injured?)
No Broad or Woakes at all after tea when new ball was @6 overs old.
Denly v Wade when he was new to crease.
    Lack of ntensity.
    Strange field placings.
Almost giving Oz the game... On a plate.

Ali, Bairstow and Jimmy should be cleared out for 2nd game.
Ali is just a liability, and Bairstow just does not justify selection right now.
Bring Leach, Archer and Foakes in.
And also, a new captain, but we all know that is not going to happen.

I've never seen you so angry!
    ;-)

    PS And right!

They seem to be saying he wasn't injured, but i'm not convinced.
  • Why not bowl Woakes, especially with Anderson mia. All very bizarre

    No worries @Cafc43v3r

Interesting that Burns will have batted on 8 days in a row in tests when he takes guard tomorrow.
  • I thought Denly's first spell this afternoon was very good. Shame in the last session he was serving pies.

Bairstow missed a decent stumping chance

Root could have had Smith run out if he backed up properly instead of standing staring into space.

Would have had Wade (?) out if we had had a review left.

All that could have meant we would be chasing 320-350 instead of virtually 400. Obviously not looking to win the game now & theres the rub. England cant bat out a day for a draw. Looking to get 330 in what could have been 110 overs could have been winnable. Not anymore.

Had a couple of chances to win this Test. First day having them 120/8,  not making the most of our lead (by losing a few quick wickets yesterday & so not getting a bigger lead) and then having them 3 down & still in deficit late yesterday.

Only one winner tomorrow I fear.
  • There was a fair amount of criticism for Bairstow's keeping yestrday both from sky sports commentators and on TMS. Sanga did avery good third man piece showing he thinks JB's Keeping confidence has gone.

  • On the sky commentators. I also read that Botham and Gower's contracts haven't been renewed. On Botham I say good he has for a long time been the weakest commentator of the lot. Gower is a good host and a reasonable commentator so fairly indifferent to him tbh.
  • I'm pretty much done with Moeen in the form he's in. Australia always destroy him. They'll try and do the same to Leach, but...well, let's see.

If Moeen has to go, Bairstow has to go too.

(if either player saves the game for England today they can stay)
  • Moeen and Bairstow out.    Cannot have players who aren't doing their fundamentals properly.

We've all seen the stats about Bairstow's test record and average since 2017 on balls bowled at the stumps.   Way too many good wicket-keeper batsmen in the country.   Or give it to Jos and bring somebody else in.

I'm actually quite excited at the prospect of a non rain effected draw here. Perhaps proper test cricket is finally making a comeback!
  • Nice helmet !
  • Nice helmet !
That looks like something you'd wear at a joust 😀
  • Burns gone - oh well, no chance of emulating Smith with 2 centuries.
  • At least you made the 5 days Rory !

Flintoff's five days batting was in India 2006 not Pakistan as i believed yesterday.
  • Whilst lamenting the quality of umpiring in this game, I happen to notice that Ian Gould retired from umpiring after the World Cup in July.
