  • Romanian PotY, league top scorer, Champ League  gets winner and 3 in 10 international appearances suggests George was not awful but struggled with aspects of the English game.
    Romanian football is Conference level.
What does that say about Celtic ;)

From That's for sure...I see it closeup here week in and week out...touted as top-flite, in reality pretty basic stuff, possibly League 2 at a big push!

Well I’ve seen it differently , I thought he was slow and out of his depth today and looked knackered early on and was a bit overweight and looked like the step up from non league to Championship was too much
Yeah, I too was disappointed that Bonne wasn't world class today.

Fortunately his manager thought differently.

  • Reminds me of Steve Jones in the way he runs. Not confident he will amount to very much but he gave it his all this afternoon & that is all you can ask for.
Golfy, Steve Jones was my assessment today. If he gives as much and contributes the way he did I'll take that for a near on free transfer.

Credit to him, worked his socks off, but you can see his not the finished article, and looks quite a bit overweight. hopefully the more he plays the better he gets, but for a debut at this level, was encouraging

He does have a bit of a Hasselbaink bum but it doesn't seem to affect his movement (unlike the Dutch tub of lard).

Reckon Bowyer is right about Bonne...

If its true that Lee is having individual sessions with him then its surely going to help Bonne more as he'll actually learn rather than just joining another team where he'll simply get games
That was something which really frustrated me about the way they loaned out the likes of Igor and Sarr back to Belgium or France, when time spent in England would have  helped them adapt to our football.
Polish Pete probably the best example to compare against Bonne

Came to the club full of potential as had been scoring for fun in the Dutch second tier - Probably needed and arm around him or at the very least a few loans to English sides to learn the game played here

Always felt it was the biggest failure of the "network" i.e. we signed a good couple players yet a number werent ready for English Football so were moved on far too quickly
Polish Pete was purchased through us to play for At Trinians.
  • Thought he played well, definitely a Dallas own goal though having seen replays.

Blimey, if you think he's overweight I'd be fascinated by your view on Aneke. Now there's a man who needs to go on a serious diet!

Why are some Charlton fans so keen to take his goal away from him?

Don't forget, some wanted to get rid of him in January! I knew that coaching from LB and JJ would make him a key squad member. Don't forget, before this season, he was playing conference football. It was always going to be a while until he got up to speed.

He seems to be a "marmite" player to some on CL.

Aneke is a giant chunk of muscle. It's almost funny how blind people are.

So fat... All I see is muscle.

"get rid". Come off it. People thought a loan might help his development. That is all.

My quote was meant as a quote of what others have sai, as I said he, has a decent turn of pace on him.

He explained: “The keeper’s punched it into my back, I thought ‘I’m always claiming it’. He [Lockyer] ran away and I was shouting to him ‘I’m sure it’s my goal Locks’ and he was like ‘no, no no’. When they changed it, he looked over to me and his face was a picture.

Really wish there was an actual picture of that reaction

Would perhaps be better served working on his speed and touch
  • May be jumping the gun,but given a bit of time ,he could become a bit of cult hero.

Aneke made one bad pass but just like at Wigan when he came on his touch was excellent.
Holt and Lambert had no pace but that's why I would play him as a number 9 and let Bonne, Williams and Leko run into space, just like Taylor does.
Aneke is a big unit with muscles, let's play to his strengths and get the ball to him where his close control is good and will keep improving.

Thought he looked excellent on Saturday - worked so hard for the team, held the ball up well and far better in the air than a man of his size should be. Could be a really good partner for LT when he is back.

His Dad and Grandad got their late and they didnt even know he was going to start!

What a great day for him and his family.
  • Personally thought Bonne did excellent on Saturday in trying circumstances. Gave an outlet and rarely lost possession. Clearly needs working on , but could end up as a good signing.
Looking at the club replay then its clear the goal came off his shoulder, as he eludes to in his interview too.

    This.
Charlton fans are a strange breed.
