Strange first half in that we dominated play creating some good chances, but Albion tore us apart down the flanks, constantly attacking down our right and crossing to the poorly marked Phillips at the back post. He should have scored more than the one goal he got, and missed another one at the start of the second half
they really bossed things the start of the second half, our equaliser was against the run of play really, but great poaching by Bonne after Cullen’s shot.
chaos surrounding the red card as the ref seemed to send the wrong player off, but as with Wednesday it wasn’t obvious which team had the man advantage. Good goal by HRK, didn’t see the handball. After the sickener of Wednesday, so nice that we were the team scoring in injury time, a soft penalty but seen them given.
Cullen was really good today, Gallagher lively. Oztumer was ineffective, Chuks similarly poor in attack but did defend in the box well. Dillon made some excellent saves, Naby could have scored but also had a couple of casual moments. Slightly puzzled by the formation we played, with Solly sometimes being the most advanced player!
Bows is playing very cute on our prospects this season as he did last year. I think he's doing all of the important things right. We can't win every week, but we are always going to be nearly there. Exciting times every week. Come on Roland spend some money.
Just on the coach now. Really deserved something out of it overall. We played some decent stuff in the first half and to echo what Bowyer said after Weds, we have got to try and be a bit more ruthless in front of goal.
They were very good in the first 20 mins of the second half and they have some good players. Frustratingly, I thought our game management went a bit awry after they had a bloke sent off. Otzumer played well today, and I understand he couldn’t last the full 90, but Aneke was a frustrating replacement. Not going to dig him out as he’s still young, stepped up 2 levels, but he gave the ball away for their goal. The spirit and the way we play overall is class. We have a squad of very good footballers, working hard, playing for the shirt. Bowyer set us up well again today, just hope we learn from these last 2 games. Even after the penalty, we seemed to slip back into sitting back. Similar to Weds.
Gallagher was for me the MOTM. He kept showing for the ball, coming deep, running at their team. He’s got such a good touch. I know it’s only the championship, but can def see him doing things in the Prem. Otzumer, was very good, really pleased for him as I thought he was a little ineffectual against Brum and Swansea. So pleased for Bonne. What an amazing impact he has had.
Sarr. So frustrating. Great ball for Williams last week to tee up Bonne, won us the penalty today, but a couple of times in the second half he almost cost us. I think that’s just him. We just have to accept he can do some very good things, but he’s still a liability occasionally.
Cullen, class once again, did his job and great composure. Lockyer, Pearce, Solly and Purrington very good. Pratley was okay, but felt he got caught out a couple of times toward the end. Can’t fault that though as the 3 games in a week would’ve def caught up with him
WBA are a good team and they looked their most dangerous when countering against us. They missed chances, we missed chances. Overall I would hope that when you look back over the 90, you would say we deserved our point
fans were immense again. I’ve been to Blackburn, Fulham and now WBA away this season. Haven’t sat down at any of them. Have loved being in it and look forward to Millwall in 2 weeks
Just echo what we are all saying. So enjoyable watching this team. Midfield is so good. Bonne looks comfortable at this level. Pratley has excelled this season. Pearce & Lockyer? Love them all. I think we are unfortunate not to be in top 3. Hope we can push on and keep challenging for promotion. January will be key in terms of who we keep. Cullens pen!! Get in!!
Honestly, you'll do well to see a softer penalty award than that. I'm not sure I care though. Either way, that's a great result away from home against a really big team who are top of the league. It's annoying how many late goals we're conceding, especially the nature of them as they're down to shape and lack of concentration which are the most annoying ones to concede. Happy to see that both of our goals came about from Solly just hammering the ball up into the opposition's box. We clearly got lucky with our goals; a lucky deflection setting up Bonne and a penalty that we would be raging about if it happened against us, but equally they've got away with a handball and Matt Phillips getting his finish all wrong and his shot just about creeping under the crossbar, so I think with that level of incompetence knocking about no-one winning is about right.
We've come through a ridiculously difficult run of games here and we keep getting points. I'm still steaming about the Bristol City result, but beyond that we have to be happy, especially looking at our creaking treatment table. I've seen some say that we've found a partner for Lyle, but I'm not sure that we have; we've found an alternative to him. They way we play we need pace alongside Lyle, and Bonne plays Lyle's style much more than he does anything else, it's just great for us that he's been so good at it. Watching the Leeds match today all the talk was about Bielsa's refusal to start Nketiah and the fact Arsenal might recall him if he's not playing enough in Jan, so with a huge amount of luck they'll do that and realise that we make the absolute most out of young players and send him our way.
Good game, fair result. We could have taken all three points, but then so could they. Not sure about the penalty, what was that for? No one standing around me seemed to see anything, not that anyone cared either. In the first half I was worried that we allowed their wingers too many opportunities, but we played things better through the middle. Thought we allowed too much space for their second goal. It was well struck, but he shouldn't have had a free dig like that. Men of the match for me were Phillips who kept us in it at times and Gallagher who looked different class.
Would have taken a point before the game but we probably could have taken all 3 today, we missed some easy chances but k guess so did West Brom.
Not wanting to dig him out too much, but that's twice in a week Chuks has come on at 1-1 and offered very little, we conceded directly from him being stripped of the ball. He needs to step up.
They can moan about the ref all they want but he was shocking for us first half. So many fouls on us not given and we were picked up for anything little at all. Livermore should have been sent of in the first min.
He missed the blatant handball for their second and the lino missed 2 obvious offside when they had a period of control which would have allowed us to get back on the ball and slow it down.
The red was a clear red. Yes the pen was probably a little fortunate but overall a draw was the least we deserved from that game.
True fighting performance from everyone. And showed some real character to come back late after what happened wednesday and with the context of so many players unavailable.
Was thinking. Who from this team would you want to back you up in a fight? The list just keeps on growing. Pratley, Pearce, Lockyer, Solly are the obvious ones but the likes of Purrington, Phillips, Sarr, Gallagher and Bonne are all showing that fight and commitment too. I love it.
More than a week until Preston now and so hopefully get a few bodies back and give the likes of Kayal and Purrington more time to get back to full fitness. Then another week to Milwall where hopefully we see Lyle (probably off the bench) partner Bonne and we get the first glimpse of the strike partnership which is going to fire us back to the premier league.
