Said it on the match thread but what has changed since Luton? Is there a problem in the camp? I dunno. One thing is for sure; despite their good intentions, ESI played the wrong hand on Jan
This season was always going to be a struggle. Losing Gallagher was a major kick in the nuts and we needed to bring in a quality replacement. Maddison?
ESI failed Bowyer by bringing in Smith Davis and Mcgeady none of there are remotely good enough for what we need. God knows how Bowyer can turn this around I fear the worst.
We needed to bring in a centre half everyone knew that but we didn't.
I'm fed up with all the negativity on here. Relegation will give us another chance to take part in the Checkatrade cup next year. I think we could well win it.

I doubt there is a single poster on here that doesn’t think that had ESI spent a few quid in January then this relegation scrap wouldn’t be as serious as it now seems to be. Three things. Either supreme arrogance, supreme stupidity or supremely skint. My monies on the last one.

And don’t forget the first round of the FA cup of which we will field a reserve team .
Away from home is just a joke, so negative. Playing like that, we may as well write off all away games and just hope some home wins will keep us up.
Biggest game of our season next week. And after the hiding we’ve just got, all the confidence I have in this team has dwindled away.
How many times have i heard this 'biggest game of the season' stuff before? Every bloody game is huge now, home or away and I'm not sure this group of players are mentally (or physically) up for what lies ahead. Hope they prove me wrong.
I'm supporting Forrest Monday. We have to look to others to help us at the moment. Our defence needed strengthening and that didn't happen ESI and Bowyer new it.....why didn't ESI commit financially? It's going to be our undoing.
Just listened to Bowyer's post match interview and to be fair I think the way they played today has shook him and some of those that started the game may not be in Lee's plans going forward. It's gonna be an interesting team selection for next weekend !!

In .fairness we will have to as need to save our best players for the forthcoming Checkatrade game
Second post of mine on this thread tonight, just watched LB's pitch-side press conference...a breath of fresh air and honesty...it was his fault, he picked the team, he gave them jobs to do...they didnt perform.....he's learnt a lot from this and players need to step up....missing Pratley.....hope he could be back next week....this may be the kick up the backside the players need....it wont happen again!! Lets hope this galvanizes the squad and next Saturday we see the reaction LB wants....if you watch the interview he looked furious!!!
I have lots of time for Bowyer and believe he is a good manager. i think what we need to recognise is that football and situations change. Lee Bowyer took over a broken club, fans were demoralised, players had no confidence in the administration and their futures. lee sorted that out, fans are now part of the club and the toxic time of RD and KM has gone. Lee restored the togetherness of the club, he motivated the team to promotion. he now has a different job under different circumstances- I hope he succeeds.
There is another potential problem on the horizon.
France have banned gatherings in public of more than 5000 from today meaning football will have to be played behind closed doors . I don’t think it will be long before we follow suit .
Playing our home games with no crowd behind us will make it much harder to get results .
Although this season is looking to be heading south, we need to remember that we started with a threadbare squad and a budget dwarfed by many others in the league, even if early results gave us a false sense of security. The new owners can't be expected to turn things round overnight so even when they came in the rest of the campaign was going to be hard. And at least Duchatalet has gone, so it really it could be a hell of a lot worse.

Liked the look of the team selection, was at least positive and attacking, but didn’t see how we could be trying to play the diamond with McGeady and Ozzy. Was a bit baffled when that’s how we lined up and it didn’t really work. The big problem in recent weeks has been the lack of energy in midfield, particularly someone harrying and pressing teams 40 yards from their goal. That is what Lapslie brought to the party as a sub in the last two matches but today Bowyer asked him to play deeper and instead we had McGeady strolling around giving their deep lying mids all the time in the world, and Ozzy on the left of the diamond who doesn’t have a scooby how to track back and is just so light weight he has to have a dominant midfield behind him if he is to influence things. He is totally unsuited to playing one of the wide roles in the diamond. 100% the shape and selection is on Bowyer, and he’s starting to look under pressure and is making odd decisions as a result.
Nonetheless, we did look to be growing into the game, but our Achilles heel came to fore again - we dicked around on the edge of, and in fact inside, our own box rather than just bloody clear it. Absolute gift of a goal. First goal was always going to be everything today and it cost us dearly to concede it. This kind of dog shit defending must be stopped immediately otherwise we are going to get relegated.
No surprise that we finally had a spell of pressure once Williams came on - he runs more than Ozzy and McGeady combined and looks after the ball. We stopped surrendering it so cheaply in midfield and built some pressure. We had a couple of good opportunities but failed to take them. Then, again, we tried to play out when a hoof down the line was what was needed. Shortly afterwards it’s 2-0 and all momentum has gone.
I called 4-0 at the point and was right. Our heads totally dropped. This needs to be the wake up call for Bowyer. He needs to try something different. Teams know we will invite the press but passing out from defence, but also know we’re incredibly vulnerable to it. I’d prefer not to have play so direct, but right now our Achilles heel is the defence, Matthews and Sarr aside, are rabbits in the headlights when pressed, and passing out from the back is like dangling that Achilles heel right in front of the opposition and asking them to kick it.
I do think we’ve played worse, and if we could’ve made that bit of pressure count for a goal it could’ve been different, but worrying to see the heads drop for the first time in a long time. We must win next week and Bowyer’s managerial chops are really going to be tested now.
Just think back to this time last week!! 7 or 8 point above the drop and a +7 or 8 goal difference over all our rivals So how the fook one week later are we plunged into this mire? Only see more gloom this saturday as bowyer has lost all confidence in his players and any sort of formula he had! Bowyer might as well just pick names out of a hat and play 4-4-2 And to make matters worse theres no trains on the charlton line -great My predictions for sat? I predict a riot
Bowyer has really got to earn his money now after todays fiasco. It could have been worse with Barnsley losing and the Luton/Stoke draw, but Wigan now look sure to escape so we have to find a way to finish above at least 1 of Boro, Stoke & Hull. If we don't beat Boro next week and get something at Hull we have a mountain to climb to stay up.
Feel for LB having watched that interview. He looked crushed and whatever happened in that transfer window has had a massive effect which I doubt was all down to him.
ESI have not covered themselves in glory but LB brought me back to the club last season and restored my faith and belief after a dreadful few years and as bad as it looks NONE of us shouldn't desert him now.
Even if we are relegated I will accept it so long as the club is 100% owned by ESI and not shoeless Roland.
But getting rid of LB would be a huge mistake at this point.

At the game, fucking dross. Bowyer has got a lot of questions to answer next Saturday. Quite frankly we were shapeless and clueless in the first half.
Don't blame anyone for the 3rd or 4th but we got what we deserved.
We are in the shit, the deep brown type.
