I honestly think I’m just going to give that game a miss. It’s bad enough having to sit there and watch them gloat at the best of times - really don’t fancy watching them hammer another nail in our coffin.
Haven't heard anyone say that we are missing Naby Sarr but he is our our only source of salvation. That and a boot up the backside for the team. The ref gave us nothing except three yellow cards for infringements that he allowed Borough to get away with more than once. Dillon didnt learn that we had to play out from the back and continued to punt long balls at Taylor that their defence won. As for their goal, the least said the better

So first you say we need Sarr to play out from the back and then question why Phillips doesnt play out from the back - think there is a clue in why the latter didnt happen, you dont give Oshilaja or Pearce the ball (to feet) as your instantly going to invite pressure which is what happened today

100% entirely Southalls fault. This squad is a mile off Championship standard and McGeady, Smith and Davis are so pony they can't even get on the pitch in our most important game of the season to date.

Bizarrely you seem to criticise but agree. Wnen we played out a couple of times we got a little more traction even with Oshilijah.. With Sarr we will be more effective passing out from the back but with size of the Borough defence the long ball was the most ineffective option but Phillips stuck with it the majority of the time.

Every time we played out the back we were dog shit.
The players are simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH to play out of the back.
Again, we get a free kick on half way line and pass backwards thinking we have ramos, Puyol, Carlos, piquet, to spray the ball about with.
Poor set up from the start, another winnable game thrown away with negative tactics.
Just not good enough against a poor Middlesbrough - but who looked better midfield & defence. No excuses for another poor display, tactics same, throw ins & set pieces poor. Back to drawing board please.
That's also a poor use of English to use poor so many times.

Yes Im agreeing we miss Sarr because we can play out the back with him as he's comfortable on the ball
You dont ask Pearce / Oshilaja to do that as neither have the same confidence which is why it was safer to hit long balls

We didnt need those three starting
What we needed was enough depth with experience so the kids dont get thrown into the action too early
The starting eleven before injuries was good enough which is why we won games, we struggled because Roland left us without enough depth once again.
ESI's only fault was they didnt get a Gallagher replacement as that is hurting us - If clubs dont want to sell players they wont though and that will not happen in January as if we cant get a Gallagher replacement, that selling club wouldnt have got cover themselves, its all about a domino effect that window.
Confuses me why so many people cant grasp what is a very simple concept!!!
Roland has sold a house that is pretty much unlivable, yet people on here think that ESI should have been throwing parties from the beginning
Of course the argument is that ESI shouldnt have bothered to buy in January but I can guarantee we'd have been in the bottom three long before now on that basis
Body language all wrong. We looked defeated even before Boro scored. Desperately need a lucky break or a magician to give the team a lift otherwise it’s going to look bleak at the end of the month. Setting up at the start of a match against a relegation rival to try an win rather than cling on for 90 mins and hope for the best might help...
League one again next season then - not going to recover from this imo - all the toast and beer in the world can’t quell the disappointment (although I’ll have a bash)
Christ, that match next weekend is unbelievably big now. Way to pile on the pressure lads! Luckily hull are as bad as we are.
Agreed, that next weeks match is massive and LB will now have to dig deep on his man management skills and find something to lift these players up; maybe a prayer to Christ might be a better approach instead of using His name as a kind of expletive might be better?

Deep breaths and Man up
I think I’ll just have 10 pints beforehand and refuse to acknowledge that the inevitable happened.
January window proving to be nothing short of abysmal. 3 players not good enough to start and another who tries but frustrates. All that posturing by MS is looking more embarrassing with every match that passes.
Bowyer is right and its why calls for his head are beyond embarrassing
Players are doing things that are beyond his control, yes he's telling them to keep the ball (as I would) but he's not going to be telling them to pass it back on every occasion
Instead those players are doing what they think in their own heads is the safe option, because confidence is low and because they think in the split second its the right decision - Yes its up to Bowyer to try and restore that confidence but when we speak so freely about Mental Health on these threads its clear that installing confidence and self believe in human beings isnt as easy as flicking a light switch
"Middlesbrough won for the first time in 11 Championship games ......"
Makes you want to weep.
Replace Boro with Hull Copy and paste that next week job done.
That’s the big worry for me now. Next week is a must win.
Just Listened to Bowyer’s post match thoughts on BBC London. Fair enough he can point to individual mistakes costing us, and today that was an appalling one given where we are in the league and the importance of the game, but it is also unforgivable to start one up top against a relegation rival at home!
I’ve said time and time again during the season about how I’ve always had faith in him when people were questioning 5 at the back and that he had all those injuries to deal with, and now, with a fully fit forward line to choose from, he starts Taylor up top alone and Green on the wing?
I also don’t really buy into the ‘much the better team’ in the second half. We had a good 10 minutes up until about the hour mark and then ran out of puff.
I don’t want to be too down on them, because they try their hardest, but the quality just isn’t there. As others have said, not a single goal against 3 poor(ish) teams. We make them all look so effective, just doing the basics against us.
Hard to take because I have so much hope and belief in Bowyer, but it’s proving a big ask at this stage in his managerial career with the resources he has available.
We have an honest bunch. As much as I think Pearce is poor and not good enough for this level, he and Oshilaja were trying hard today. Pratley gives it his all, but at this level, the amount of games he’s had to play, he gets caught, isn’t quick enough and we seem to be very easy to play through against.
Taylor cannot carry that team, Cullen needs more around him and Williams was anonymous today.
ESI who I also wanted to give the benefit of the doubt too, and get behind have had their Jan business found out. Bowyer cannot fancy McGeady at all if he didn’t bring him on today. I felt we were crying out for someone who could just pick the ball up in midfield and run at them. Davis and Smith will probably play a marginally more involved role than Ledley by the end of the season
Just got to find a result next week from somewhere, anywhere. Not a draw, a win, and then move onto QPR.
not winning next week will be the result that sends us down

Far too much emphasis put on pointless stats before games these days
Couldn't cope with their width.
Finally went flat 442 before half time and same but with Bonne in the second.
Look much better but still we huffed and puffed to little effect.
A better team than the poor (but much better than us) Boro would have punished us.
Good to have Pratley back but the problems go deep.
Not even scoring goals now.
But......
Season not over and we CAN stay up.
Think I might give cafc social media a miss until the museum classic shirt auction.
Up the Addicks

I was at the game and watched 90 minutes of shite.
Hope this helps.
