Deaths in England and Wales during or following police custody in the last 10 years: 163, of whom 23 (14%) were from ethnic minorities.
Deaths in UK due to Covid-19 in last 3 moths: Approx 40,000, of whom around 16% were from ethnic minorities (Approx 6,500).
Covid is by far this biggest killer in absolute terms and is more discriminatory in percentage terms. It is quite possible, though it would be very difficult to prove, that more people will die as a result of demonstrators breaking social distancing rules than as a result of bad policing. Misguided, is the politest thing this particular lily-livered liberal can say about the protesters.
I presume most of the protesters are under age 60, so they won't die from Covid19. They obviously don't care about the vulnerable. A peculiar attitude if you're genuinely trying to make the world a better place. #maturelivesmatter
You said " They are as bad as Dominic Cummings ". The two things are not comparable.
You could have said " They are as bad as Stephen Kinnock " or " They are as bad as Rosie Duffield " or Tahir Ali or the other Labour twat who actually went out to join the rioters, Barry Gardiner.
Or is what Cummings did worse than what they all did?

When you decontextualise it, as you have done, what Cummings did is no worse than the others. When you look at the big picture; who Cummings is, what he represents, what the likely effects of his actions were, then what he did is immeasurably worse.

They are all as bad as each other, all have broken the lockdown rules and put others at risk.
I would say that Cummings was far worse than Kinnock, as he and his wife either were or could have been Covid carriers at the time they travelled, and thus should have been self isolating at home completely.
Kinnock broke the more general guidance about unnecessary trips, but wasn't self isolating at the time.
And of course those that set the rules need to set an example.
I agree, Cummings was out of order. So was the other tosser, Neil Ferguson who was the person who actually recommended a lockdown.
The problem I have with it is that Cummings has been hounded beyond belief. He and his family and child have had death threats, protests outside his home. One of which only happened on Friday. Graffiti wishing him and his family dead scrawled in the road outside his house.
He has been followed and harassed by the scum media wherever he goes.
He broke the lockdown guidelines yes, does he deserve this relentless barrage of hatred, threats and abuse by the left? No, of course he doesn't.
We all know the true reason why he is being targeted. He was one of the main figures behind the Brexit outcome.
A lot of people including the media will never be able to move on in their sad miserable lives because of that.

Some of the MP's who were keen on brexit, like Steve Baker, have called for Cummings to go.

Cummings chose to break the rules he helped to make and it is not only the left who think he should have been sacked. I voted for Brexit and voted for this Government and now bitterly regret having done so.
I feel sorry for poor old Golfie. He had a thread removed yesterday and was told to debate his point in the hoc section, as it was deemed political.
FWIW, I think Cummings was vilified because of who he is and what he represents. The response to his actions was not proportionate. Compared with Ali who went to two 100 strong funerals at a time when the figures were high.
As for the protestors, I share Golfie’s view from yesterday. If it were a football crowd, the Police response would be different and the media would be far more critical. Other than that, I’m out before the mods close it down 😀
I'm usually supportive of protestors and believe that the right to protest is a very important one, even if I don't always agree with the aims of a particular protest. There are some though, who consistently take an anti position and seem to revel in reporting any negative facts they can in the aim of discrediting protestors through mass character assassination without ever tackling the arguments.
I have to say I'm struggling with this though, the risks are far too high and the benefits too tenuous for this to be a sensible approach. I get that people are angry about George Floyd's murder and that there are great concerns about racism in this country as well as in the US. Surely in the current situation though it would make more sense to find an alternative method of speaking out. After all, it's only a week or so ago that there were reports on the news about the government not doing enough to prevent Covid amongst ethnic minority communities. This seems to fly in the face of that.
This. I’m outraged that a guy got handled that way by the police and ultimately died for the unproven crime of having a fake $20 bill. I seriously doubt that this would have happened to a white person.
I think a more powerful message would have been for everyone to log onto zoom at 5pm during the next prime minister up date and cause the system to crash and prevent questions, causing the prime minister embarrassment
i have thought of that now, in 2 minutes. I’m not sure if it would have worked but my point is, there are other ways to protest if planned properly rather than congregate in public during a pandemic that has cost 40,000 lives on our shores alone.
I'm of the opinion that this disease really struggles to get it's claws in outdoors.
The only thing that has really changed from the immediate lockdown to now is the restrictions to outside activities and meetings. And people have really been ripping the arse out of them once it was announced. Packed beaches, parks. Protests. Social distancing guidance largely being ignored. And the numbers continue to fall on a daily basis.
How ironic they are defacing war memorials, 76 years ago to the day it was D Day +1, already by +1 hundreds of young men had sacrificed their lives and as we know from history that figure went on into the thousands.
All lives matter, not just black ones, if the young men in 1944 did not storm the beaches and give up their lives there would not be a black life in Europe to worry about, Hitler would have seen to that.

Let's see how it looks in 2 weeks or so. I very much hope you are right.
As of today, Nz is Covid free to the best of everyone’s knowledge. A massive relief and we managed to restrict deaths to 22 people (almost all elderly). from Midnight Monday all restrictions on internal travel and gatherings are being removed. It’s gonna feel weird being normal. Anyway my thoughts with You all in the Uk and elsewhere who have some way to go to get out of the woods. This too shall pass. As we say in NZ... Kia Kaha.

Really loved NZ on our trip in November/December last year for the cricket and touring. Really wished we had been there when lockdown happened! Fantastic country and people, stay safe @KiwiValley .
Well, after about six weeks from my last attempt to take the dog out in the fields around Lullingstone/Shoreham, I’ve just returned from another aborted attempt. I’m pouring myself a stiff drink because I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. The road down to lullingstone visitors centre car park is absolute carnage. The road from the visitors centre through the countryside down into Shoreham is virtuallly gridlocked and there is not an inch of kerb in Shoreham to be had. What the AF are all these people doing and where have they come from? I hope this isn’t the “new normal”. I’m honestly bewildered. I assumed my last attempt was on the day the doors opened and folk were just getting outdoors for the first time but his was even worse. I shudder to think what it’s like for the likes of @Eynsfordaddick and other local residents. Where’s that drink?
Similar over this way in the Hambleden Valley yesterday (vicar of Dibley country). Place absolutely heaving with cyclists and parked cars, even though once off into the fields and woods it was pretty sparse. I think it's just a cork out of the bottle thing and will settle down once people have got it out of their systems a bit.
There are some real dickheads around that area at the moment. Last time I was on Shacklands Road I saw 4 off road bikes deliberately revving their engines next to a herd of cows and causing them to stampede up a hill (the idiots were pissing themselves about it). I just hope Karma catches up with them next time they take a chance on a blind corner.

Yeah I've noticed a real increase in boy racers about. There's a dual carriageway not far from me and I can constantly hear cars and bikes racing down there. Yesterday out on a bike ride I had 2 Audi's and a lambo one after another flying right up behind me on a small country lane. Seems the only way some will learn is if they are in accident.
Some posts on here are as if it’s March still! People are allowed out!
i spent 3 hours at oxleys woods yesterday. Lots of people out, 95% were keeping their distance and generally abiding by the rules. You will always come across the odd fucktard who doesn’t give a shit.
Just seen pictures on tv of people queueing outside a shop in Oxford Street, they are all bunched up with not even a metre between them. This is absolute madness.

Over two weeks since these scenes and the infection and death rate still continues to decrease.

I cannot agree with your opening comment.
I could debate this all day long but what's the point. It just becomes a slanging match and I have better things to do with my valuable time.

Sad times
Yesterday was with the intent on causing trouble. It had nothing to do with protesting.
