  • Having had the man advantage for most of the half we've now gifted Blackpool an opportunity to get right back into the game which we've largely controlled. Although our record against sides with a man less has been mixed recently anyway, looking at you Krystian Bielik.

Shame we've lost Doughty running down that right wing as most of our attacking impetuous has dried up without a couple of changes. Take a draw at this point
  • Pratley and Watson are doing well. Unfortunately, when we were a man up Pratley seemed to be the spare man in every attack

No arguments with the red. Purrington simply could not live with the pace and then hauled Hamilton down as he got in behind. Yeah we had cover but not nearby.

No tactical adjustment was made to help Purrington out on Hamilton. I was screaming at the telly for Watson to cover where Hamilton was inevitably going to run - down the line - and he just hovered around. Not blaming Watson whatsoever as it meant he'd be out of position and you have to have faith in your full back to defend one on one, but Purrington had been burned so many times already.

Bowyer should have switched something up to try and press the advantage early before they had a chance to consolidate. He didn't, we now also have ten, and we go again.

    Big 45 ahead.
Spot on. Purrington needed help or to be subbed and he didn’t get it.
We had a spare man, we could have doubled up on Hamilton or moved Doughty over to that side instead of Washington
  • Zero positives from that first half. Saying that was Pathetic would be being nice.

Absolute dull and so boring. Can someone pipe in some booing into the dressing room.
You don't think a clean sheet away from home is a positive?
    No.

Win 5-2 and I'd be over the moon.

  • Purrington should have just left him. Really poor decision to foul when on a yellow

Midfield so lacking in energy off the ball we just passed it around defence because there wasn't an option. Hope bowyer gives them a rocket up the arse and makes some positive substitutions to make up for his initial negative selection. Cannot believe Williams didn't start and both Pratley and Watson did.

Why? - We've been on top for most of the game, just need to find a breakthrough

Just need to be careful of Blackpool on the counter attack
  • Blimey, watched that and saw a lot of positive signs of the beginnings of a team. Feeling good, apart from Ben Purr's naivety. Come on here and it's all moans and doom and gloom. What have we turned into???
A bang average league one team

    I'm going to guess....

JFC for Washington half time change
Smyth for Shinnie - around 65mins

Play for the draw now I guess. Shame we couldn't take advantage but hey ho.

How do you play for a draw? We need three points anyway.
Fatal if you go even more defensive than we already are. Guarantee we lose one nil if we do.

You don't, but we more than likely will.

Bowyer isn't always the most adventurous or attacking. We're away from home, lost our left back, huffed puffed and ultimately failed against 10 men.

I imagine he'll see a point as a good result now and look to make that happen.

  • Purrington is chite. Negative. Always throws back, passes back and is tortoise slow. Drop him forever.

I'll take that over a bang average L2 team.  Or over AFC Charlton in the southern counties league.

This is pretty appalling. 11 v 10 for much of it, and not a single shot on target. Watson much better today, but midfield isn’t showing much creativity. Have hardly seen Washington. Bogle at least looking dangerous.
Its not like we've had chances though is it - Honestly whats this fascination with a shot on target if it doesnt go in

Its just as wasteful, if not more so as a shot off target
Really? I am really confused with that statement mate? I mean, a shot on target may go in, a shot off target won’t. Well - deflections notwithstanding.

Because I can't see where a goal is going to come from, especially with a hole in the team
  • Maatsen sounds like he's coming on. Changed my mind re: Doughty - bring him on for Washington
  • Not been overly convinced with Washington so far.
Watch him score early second half.

FWIW I'd go 4,3,2 this half. We're not going to score with one forward.

    Amos
    Gunter - Inniss - Famewo - Maatsen
    Doughty - Watson - Shinnie
    Washington - Bogle

Watson was right behind Purrington, no need to foul him at all.
  • Why did Purrington foul him? Of course he had a choice, 11 v 10 we win this

  • Positives - Bogle has been busy. Innis & Famewo looking good. Gunter has done well. Watson looking much better and spraying it around. Shinnie played a lovely through ball that almost came off and delivered a brilliant corner. Amos very assured.

Pratley being too much to hope for

Watson had his best game for us, but it's hardly surprising that 2 defensive midfielders looked comfortable against a team down to 10 men
  • Watson looking good. Not sure about the playing it around at the back, a complete waste of time, and when we play it forward it’s too long or goes to them.

    It's Pratley!!!!!! Bowyer redeemed

That was pretty flat. One bonus has been Watson who has done well but we need more zip in midfield. I hope Williams comes on. Purrington was an accident waiting to happen. I was hoping that we could get him off after HT and get Maatsen on. He then decided to take himself off with a stupid foul. Think we won't be seeing him starring for a while now.
