Hmm, for the first time, NA’s “running around a bit” gives me the sense our Ronnie could be being frozen out… That is as negative a comment as one of the most positive people I have ever heard speak is likely going to share about a player. Gives the impression Ronnie can’t be bothered or is totally unfit.

Yeah, I’m not one for reading hidden meanings into comments made by players and managers, but when I heard that from NA today I thought “ouch!”  NA’s pretty obviously distinctly unimpressed by what he’s seen from Ronnie. There was so much promise in that fantastic finish vs Rochdale but looks increasingly likely that is going to be his one and only meaningful (positive) contribution.

Something like he is running about a bit at least. In article about him training

He might as well pay me 3k a week to run around a bit.  I can do that for less money.

From Adkins post match last night

A couple of players have missed out today, [Alex] Gilbey and Ben Watson for example… Ryan Inniss and Ben Purrington, so there’s four that have missed out today. You’d like to think that that certainly adds strength to the squad of players that we’ve got.””

    No mention of Ronnie Schwartz

People will still come on here with hands over their eyes saying he will still come good if we play to his strengths.

Get the ball to me in the box when I'm two yards out and I will score ffs.

Reading an awful lot into that.

"Ronnie Schwartz is a bit short at the moment, he needs a bit more work, but at least he's in at the training ground now and running round a bit."

Hardly critical, Adkins is talking about fitness not his quality and he's right.
Schwartz had been away for his personal stuff and on returning had to isolate, but he's back at the training ground now and has started running outside.

He's likely not been frozen out but is working with the fitness guys until he's fit enough to start interacting with the contact side of training. I'd be surprised if he's not back in the group by Sunday.

I don't think he's ever going to be the equivalent of Washington, Davison or Stockley as he's not quick or physical enough for those roles. He's more your 18 yard box finisher, but his fitness coming in last January was nowhere near where it needed to be. The slower games in the Danish division are probably the main reason (as suggested by our Danish based posters)

Sounds like some people don't want to give him a chance. Hopefully Ronnie is willing to work for his chance too
  • Yeah definitely don't see how that's critical of him. Just sounds like he's starting his pre-season a month behind everyone else

And who exactly would we play in an u23 friendly that didn't play last night?

Fair enough. Should toughen them up and identify the weak.

It was more the tone it was said in that struck me.

NA is saving Ronnie until we hit the premiership when the silky skills of the Danish forward will be revealed. Onwards and upwards!

As much as i was one of those, give him a chance... I don't see it happening at all. We have gone a whole pre-season practically without any involvement, whatever the reasons, its just not going to happen. I'd love it if it does.  I do hope we have someone in mind, i always felt he would score goals given the chance but it doesn't look like it now so lets move him on and get someone else in who is a recognized goalscorer/ finisher

I’d love it to work but I think people are kidding themselves if they believe this has a fairytale ending for both parties.

It’s best for everyone if he moves back home and we utilise his wages to improve the squad. There’s no point having one of our top earners on the bench with a manager that doesn’t want to play to his strengths.

I'm still not convinced he will play for us.
Still expecting him to go back to Denmark.

There will be a deadline day round up on the OS and the final line will be...

"Ronnie Schwartz has joined Danish Club xxxxx for an undisclosed fee"

    And that will be that.

Agreed. It’s almost feels like he isn’t even a Charlton player. I certainly forget he is with us. Shame really….you want it all to work out with him but know it’s never going to happen.

Anyone going to the training open session, wonder if Ronnie will be participating?
