Sounds like we weren''t in it for large chunks of the match but had chances first match?  Did we change to 5-3-2 second half?

Millar is a class act, M o M for me, 3 points clean sheet, bit ragged at times. Another shocker of a pitch.
  • After a very solid 25 minutes, MK Dons took control but never really created anything. I expect they look like that against a lot of teams. Wierd that so much onus was put on that young debutant CB for them.

Compared to our last performance against them, when they continuely waltzed through our midfield, it was night and day. I actually felt more comfortable watching that then some of the games during our winning streak earlier in the season.

Lots of postives for me personally. We are starting to work like Bowyer teams of old.

One slight negative I personally have, and I'm putting it down to match sharpness, is Ronnie looks a little lost out there to me - just never seems to be up with the current phase of play.
  • 3 points.

Bossed the first half, anonymous the second.

    3 points.

    A nice comfortable away win.
    "Matron!!"
  • Type of performance that reminded me of Barcelona v Chelsea when Torres put the latter in the Champions League Final

Milton Keynes played all the pretty passes but we were barely ever under proper pressure, not once did I expect them to score tonight

The performance as a whole wasnt good enough against a team that low in the table yet as I mentioned on the match thread, it reminded also of our win @ Burton in 2018/19 when we did nothing apart from a Grant penalty and Pearce last minute winner so these games happen

We've needed a bit of luck and a defensive display to create a benchmark at the back so we can push forward

    Hopefully tonight was it!!

The high press worked but we stopped using it. They wanted to bring the ball out with their defenders but we were at them, Then after we scored we allowed them to do it. Thankfully they were not great in the box.

Lovely stuff. MK are a decent side and one we always seem to slip up against no matter what season it is. Professional performance, good effort in the press. Pratley as usual showing how it’s done. Hope Washington isn’t too hurt. My only slight concern is that’s now 1 goal in 6 appearances for Ronnie. Obviously a player in there so I hope he can get another one soon to get his confidence flowing and his head doesn’t drop while he gets fitter

  • Job done. Could have played all night and MK Dons still wouldn’t have scored. Running around and passing a lot and having more possession doesn’t mean goals without attempts at scoring to go with it and Charlton stopped that.

How are MK 16 th? Good team moved  the ball well. We did not play the 2nd half but 3 points
    Because they barely create anything?

What's more exhausting? Watching Charlton hold on for three points or sifting through the mountains of negative comments in the match thread?

Well earned win. MK had plenty of the ball second half but there's only one real chance of note that I can recall.
Well earned win sure. But let's not kid ourselves, that performance in the second half wasn't impressive and we were hanging on for most of it.
That's football. Games are contested between two teams who will both have periods of pressure on the other's goal. We scored and they didn't. Sometimes a hard fought win like this is exactly what is needed to kick a season back into gear.

Under a fair bit of pressure in the end without them having many chances. We got a bit of luck tonight but deserve that after seeing that every shot against us went in lately.

Bowyer got it pretty right. Putting Pratley in to man mark Fraser to stop him running the game again and it worked. Fraser was getting annoyed by it.

They worked very hard for the points tonight and that's pleasing but felt we sat back for too much and not convincing but a wins a win.

Well pleased with that. A badly needed win and a clean sheet too. We were very good in the first half, pressed them well, counter attacked effectively and could have gone in more than one ahead. Cant deny though, it was a disappointing second half in which we gave away possession far too easily. Our subs just couldn’t seem to get into the game.

Hats off to Darren Pratley who put the shackles on Fraser and did a lot to nullify their midfield.

Good tactical move from Bows at the end to push Matthews forward to deny space to the tricky MK player who came on.

Good solid professional performance. Started well, scored, then limited them to very few opportunities.

Bowyer's tactics worked today, much to the dismay of some of our "fans".
  • Gladly take the 3 hard battled ugly 3 points
But bows must pick the positives from this as Portsmouth sat is going to be a harder game cant carry anyone or we will get punished

Possession is overrated unless you’re Man City or a drug dealer.

Great result, midfield made the difference.

    Shinnie is a class act
Millar superb running at people (and defensively)
JFC and Pratley immense in the middle

    Amos: 6
    Matthews: 6
    Gunter: 6
    Oshilaja: 6
    Purrington: 6
    Shinnie: 6
    Pratley: 5.5
    Forster-Caskey: 6
    Millar: 7
    Stockley: 6
    Washington: 5
    Schwartz: 5
    Referee: 6
It was no coincidence that when Washington started to tire, then went off injured they picked up as we no longer had our outlet.

Also Pratley 5.5 really? He broke up so many attacks, admittedly should have had a shot that he bottled too, but come on...

We looked great for 25 minutes. Rest of the first half still ok, but too sloppy second half.
Still really important three points + clean sheet, Millar looks good and sorry but Schwartz looks out of his depth.

Time for Bow's and Scottie! Both dressed ready for a night out in Sheesh.

Sounds like a fluent performance until we scored and then struggled after that.

    A welcome 3 points

We have come back from 3-1 down against the team in 18th, 2 down against the team in 23rd, and beaten the teams in 16th and 19th 1-0 away and people honestly think that's good and gutsy?
Can you actually give it a rest please.
Why do you think that's anything to brag about?

Pratley nullified Fraser and that's where I think the game was won.
    This.

Hopefully it'll keep the Pratley knockers quiet for a while.

    Bowyer on VP

“I’m delighted. The way we started we were on front foot. They move the ball well”
”today our shape was excellent. We didn’t give too much away. Won balls in good areas”
    ”we should have scored more”
”very happy to take away 3 points from here”
”first goal is massive in any game. We haven’t lost many when we score first”
”worthy of first goal. Could have had 1 or 2 more.”
    “We were solid”
”Millar was outstanding defending at the end. Way out of his comfort zone. Really pleased with him”
