That defence should hang their heads in shame. Matthews, Gunter, Maatsen, Pratley, Watson... that's as bad as it gets. Going forward the decisions have to be so much better. Stockley won everything and no one was able to finish. Crap.

Don't get me started on the officials.

Minto without meaning to called it right... "As always, disappointing tonight".

Form is awful, lucky we started the season well or we would be seriously in the mire.

Just like last season, get off to a flier, fall to pieces, pick up injuries and fans keep saying that when they are back we will come good.  Be too late by then, absolutely mental not to have had a CB lined up for 1st Jan.

To be this far into the season and have no settled way of playing and be making subs at half time every game is simply idiotic.

On the positive I have not seen such an aerially dominant centre forward since Yann, the chances Stockley set up were great, sadly we just kept slicing the shots wide - even for throw ons!

If JFC plays next game I give up. Albie was better and got pulled. Bowyer does have favorites Pratley, Watson, JFC. We were all crying out for a CB in the window. I’ve lost faith in LB

Any one know how far Akin and Iniss are from returning?
Both of them have had training setbacks, their legs have fallen off but we’re going to wait and see if they can grow new ones....

Can't defend or excuse that performance. Poor. Play offs now looking a bridge too far. Some poor performances. Struggling with a positive tonight other than Stockley.
  • So what did he get wrong this time then lads?

Problems with the line up? Probably just Millar really

Afraid the one thing I do think he has got wrong is his faith in Watson. The guy thinks he’s championship level but wouldn’t get into a non league team.

Cry babies out in force again. I think I’d die of a heart attack

Amos and Stockley played well. But that was just soul destroying, this many basic errors from experienced professionals who should know better appears to be the culture now. Big chance tonight to start stringing some wins together, now we'll have to start again and I can't see that being at Rochdale.

Stockly had a great game, Deji did ok. Gunter is not a centre half.

Probably partly due to lack of confidence but our passing, whether under pressure or not is too sloppy and allied to that poor touches and lack of movement and if you intend to pass your way to goals, you are in trouble.

Until we get Famewo back, we probably need to go more direct. Can't see Bowyer doing that but we gift games too often as it stands.

I wan't to know why on earth Bowyer left our most creative and talented player on the bench ?

Is Millar made of china too so he can only play 45 minutes? Its beyond a joke.

His rotating of the squad is destroying any chance of promotion.

  • Couple of observations;

We look gash when playing with a diamond, we must play with width. 442 or don’t bother.

    Stockley is quality.

I hope Schwartz isn’t match fit because he looks miles off it.

    Watson is useless.

Maatsen needs a few weeks rest, looks a shadow of the player he looked first few games.

    Millar must start.

    LB is a negative manager.

Yeah if Paul Cook was available I’d have Bowyer out the door tonight actually.

    That’s a proper manager.

That is it for me.... We could have played for another 2 days and wpn't score.  I have acepted season is over for us tonight. We have to play the top 1- in our final run and we can't beat anyone.  What is Bow's record until tonight?  Is it 2 wins in 20?  What is Paul Cook doing nowadays?
    Happily take him as manager.

Would another manager be getting more from this squad of players? I think so.

    A resounding YES

  • Season over. Nothing to see here tonight. Can see us 2 or 3 down against Rochdale at the weekend chasing another game. Time to bowyer to move on and for us too.

New ideas and energy needed for the rebuild.
  • I'm sure people will point to individuals mistakes, but we lost the game before a ball was even kicked.

Dropped our two best attacking players.

Changed a formation that was working, to one that hadn't for us.

Its no shock we put in a familiar poor performance.

    100%

Where were are two best attacking players: on the bench
Where was our top goal scorer: on the bench
Where was the MOM and goal scorer from the last match: on the bench
Where were the two most likely players to supply Swartz: on the bench

Absolute dog shit again. Im not certain the return of our first choice centre backs will make much difference. The midfield provide no protection as they can't keep the ball. And with schoolboy errors from senior professionals we are constantly fighting a losing battle.

If anyone is positive after that I’ll have some of what you’re having.

We are fucking miles off and once everyone plays the same games the table will show that.

    Fucking wank.
  • Anyone know when Portsmouth have lost in the league when being referred by Lee Swabey. He appears to have an interesting record with them.

Get rid of basically everyone whose contract is up in the summer. Watson; Pratley; Pearce - they're too old and too slow. We won't be able to retain the loanees, and frankly I'd rather we signed players for the long term.

Other teams like Accrington can outperform the wage cap, and we've always thought Gallen has been shrewd. With or without Bowyer - honestly indifferent at this point - we should be able to compete next year with the right moves.

I've resigned myself to a decent but non-promotion finish and am looking ahead to 2021/22. Very surprised I'm so detached with so long to go in the season.
JFC needs to go if we're serious about challenging for promotion next season. Too pedestrian for me.

An abysmal evening started with a poor team selection, with a complete lack of width and pace and Albie Morgan deployed in an unfamiliar position at the tip of the diamond. JFC - who had a very poor game - also seemed to spend most of his time on the right, which inevitably meant that he cut inside and needed multiple touches.

What possessed Lee Bowyer to omit Millar from the starting line up and why did he feel the need to change his shape and structure - in so far as we had one in this shambolic performance ? Did he feel he had to try and match Portsmouth up in some way ? Kenny Jackett must have been absolutely delighted. You do have to wonder what goes on at Sparrow’s Lane in terms of defensive shape and organisation.

With the exception of Stockley, who was excellent, and Deji, who did well in a brutally exposed defence, none of the players looked comfortable in the disjointed ‘system’ we adopted.

Pompey are a strong and well organised side but we made them look far better than they are and Bowyer has to take a major share of responsibility for that. A series of sloppy and comedic errors - notably, from Watson for the third goal - cooked our goose but I have no real idea of what style of play our manager is trying to implement and I also wonder if he knows himself.

Talk of the play-offs is looking very fanciful and the direction of travel is - and has been since early November - downwards into mid-table obscurity. Bowyer needs to turn this around and show some signs of progress or I fear the owner is going to lose patience.

  • Well that was dreadful!!

Bowyer got rid of his 2 main scapegoats yesterday, so who's fault is it now??

I've plenty more to say, but I love this forum so don't want to get banned.
