I don't believe we played as badly as some of the other games I've watched when at The Valley, but our concentration from the off just doesn't seem to be in the 'ON' position. How many times have we conceded first early on and had to come from behind? We need to be ready from the off not after the first 10 minutes or so. Up until their third goal I thought Purrington was having a good solid game, but why did we keep backing off?? Aneke's sending off was completely unnecessary and put us on the back foot. There is definitely a 'fear' among the team which is stopping them from performing how they did on the unbeaten run we had earlier in the season. Perhaps with another week, without a midweek game, we can get Akin fully fit and put him back in defence, and Innis will be another week closer. I agree neither are world class CB's, but since they both got injured our defence has in the main been a shambles, with the occasional cleans sheet thrown in. We need Akin and Innis back at the heart of our defence and perhaps then we will stop giving away early goals!! Today losing to that lot hurts more than any other defeat.....and why don't refs take more action against 'fatty'?? He was mouthing off all fucking game!!! TWAT
It really is a crap league, no one has lost less than 5 (Sunderland) and it should have been a decent year to make a go for the top two, but sadly I don't see us even making the play offs (but is still possible of course) and we're set for another year in this god awful league.
Hull City have lost 9 games also - and they are 2nd.
Come on Charlton, do the right thing and save our season. Get rid and do everything you can to get Paul Cook in.
What if Paul Cook doesnt work?
Bowyer isn't working.
You do realise the next man could do even worse right?
Its one thing that hasnt been given ANY consideration by the majoity who want Bowyer In or Out
It's true, but on that basis we shouldn't have sacked any manager ever. Including the ones you didn't like/rate/want. Karel Fraeye would still be manager.
How on earth can anyone blame the manager for that performance, when players consistently play below their ability level, it’s down to them. We didn’t close them down in our final third, they scored two cracking goals and we gave them the third. We hit the post and the bar in the first twenty minutes and Chuks should not have been dismissed, but all the supporters saying Bow should go need to have a little think...

I can't work out who is most at fault the players or Bowyer. Most weeks we stand off and let the opposition shoot at goal from outside the area and then complain that they score worldies.
If you let teams have shots unchallenged they will & do curl & smash the ball into the top corner. It's nothing to do with luck and everything to do with poor defending by the entire team.
I'm sick of watching our players stand off and let the opposition shoot unchallenged.
The heady days following the win over Rochdale seem a million miles away tonight. Also, we may be wining the league on red and yellow cards, but we are comfortably the softest team in the division.

What if Paul Cook doesnt work? - Seems to be a bit of a given that he'll do the job seeing he's done well at this level himself before now, there are no givens in this Sports
Mate, I'm probably a bit older than you. And trust me, as you get older and start looking back over your life, the things you regret most are not what you've done (although obviously it would be hard not to regret some things) it's the things you didn't do, and the opportunities you didn't take, that hurt the most.
Merely saying that making a change could be worse than sticking with Bowyer is wrong. Yes, it could be. But it could also completely revitalise the season. Unless you take the chance you will never know.
I've watched that game today getting more and more despondent. OK, it wasn't an awful performance but with the squad we have, how on earth are we getting outplayed by pub teams like Gillingham? Something has got to give soon.
TS says we've got one of the best attacks in the league, Bowyer says we're overachieving. If you wanted confirmation for the 'has Bowyer lost it' thread, you've now got it.
" over achieving " oh dear. I honestly dont know what to say to that ! 21 pts from 18 games ???? I think we are reaching a point of no return unfortunately

Because if ALL the players play below their ability level for over a year ALL the players can't be at fault?
To jump on the bandwagon .... AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH Up until today, I honestly thought we’d sneak into the play-offs. Not now. Our defence is shocking. Chalk and cheese to last week. How much time and space did we give their players for the goals. Shocking
Don't know about anyone else but I could pick that fat fucker up chirping the entire game officials did nothing to stop it and were then influenced by it. Anekes second yellow which isn't a yellow turned it. 3 really good goals for gillingham don't begrudge them that but I think I've earned enough credit moaning about refs when we win to say the one today cost us m, he was weak and bought everything they were trying to sell. At some point I hope we swap the dugouts so either we do the bullshit to the linesman or so I don't have to listen to an opposition walking heart attack and faecal accident all game

We are never given the same luxury by the opposition when we go forward. Our midfield always seem to go missing when they walk past our defence and smash one past Amos. Our midfield are supposed to be the first line of defence.
I didn't think we were that bad today, and overall deserved at least a point, if not all 3.
However, there is a fundamental weakness in the team, as for so many goals to go in from distance suggests there's something wrong, whether in the defence, the midfield pressing or the goalkeeper, issues which weren't resolved in the January transfer window despite us bringing 5 players in, and not resolved in the coaching
The game management today was curious too. 3 central midfielders on the bench, yet none brought on when JFC went off in the first half. Morgan getting 4 minutes today, and Smith not coming on at all.
I'd say gauging the sentiment on here this is about the lowest we've felt, so the good news is we should soon be on the plateau of midtable productivity

Managed to lose at home to MK today, as well.
Something has to change; Tactics? Formation? Training?.....Bowyer?

Our two CBs today wouldn't get in any of the top 6 team's sides.
One of them would be lucky to get in any of the bottom 6. And yet we expect to be achieving things.

Should have been 4-1 up in the first half

The rest of his quote doesn't make sense if it's overachieving.
