He could get a Championship club next season........maybe Sheffield United?Covered End said:

Why would he drop 2 leagues?AddicksAddict said:It may have been said already but surely we go for Chris Wilder. I then Sheffield Utd were daft to get rid of him.
Plus which Premier League club would employ him?6 -

Spoke well of the club in the past too.Covered End said:

I think with the exception of appointing from within. (Jacko) then at least TS and Ged will not be preoccupied with appointing an ex Charlton man. With the possible exception of Curbs I personally wouldn’t want any of those suggested.0

Agreed, plenty of people wanted the job when we were owned by Roland. Now we have an enthusiastic and ambitious owner, we are an even more attractive propositiongolfaddick said:

No reputable manager would want to come to a club with our recent history.
But you are so wrong my friend. You'll be surprised who'll want the job. We now have a good owner, with money, and big ambitions. We are in London, one of the top Capital cities of the world. We have a decent stadium which can be extended to seat around 35k.
We are more attractive than Portsmouth for a start.
Add in a passionate fanbase too. Apart from the off field work against Roland and ESI, the atmosphere in the away end for the 2 seasons before promotion was superb, and really showed up other clubs at this level0 -
someone has probably already said this, but I'd be more worried about Bowyer/Brum taking Steve Gallen than any of our players...

He's probably had a bit of time to think about it, make some quiet enquiries etc already though.Gravesend_Addick said:
From those quotes I think it will be JJ. I find Sandgaard's quote that he wants a permanent appointment by the end of the week a little worrying.MattF said:
I hope he takes time to make the right appointment0 -

I think they worked out that Lee was not the long term option before christmas. I know it's easy to say in hindsight now but I do believe Roddy and Sandgaards main thing is to get a football philosophy in place from top to bottom throughout the club and Bowyer was never going to be onboard with that amongst other things.3

Will put my money on Harris - typical Charlton.

At the moment I am more interested in the first ITK comment - weighing up who I think it might be - maybe @Redhenry or @DubaiCAFC or an outside bet on myself, after all I’m on a run now 😛4

Will always be grateful for Lee captaining the ship when it looked certain to capsize and sink. Was still in his camp right to the end as I think he deserved more time given his loyalty and the cards he'd been dealt.
His departure has all the hallmarks of a professionally managed exit, and I would expect nothing less of Sangaard. "First decent offer you get, take it and we'll look after you."
We're a very attractive prospect for a new manager - the best placed we've been in years.9 -
I really felt like the Appleton pic was a bit old. Literally - he must be a lot older now.

Bloody love Thomas. A professional with integrity. And an optimist. We’ve lucked out.11

I hope the club are prepared for this.0

It'll be probably Underwhelmed.Bailey said:I am waiting for the angst on here when we collectively find out WHO ????? WHO ???
And if the new manager has previously had a couple of good seasons followed by a burn-out (like Bowyer) ...... it'll be merely an unenthusiastic whelmed.

Don't want the Cowleys. Build dirty teams with hoofball tactics. Anti Charlton in every way.2

Bleddy Charlton Life!
I've just spent 2 hours reading this thread. I'm now hopelessly behind trying to catch up on things I've still got to do.
And to make things worse ........ I'll have to do it all again on Friday when news of the new manager breaks!

Nobody has "hounded out" Lee Bowyer.
He has chosen to resign in order to take a job in the division above. That is a fact.24 -

I said a few weeks back I'm sure Ruddy & TS must have done some back ground work with an eye to the future given the run we were on IF Bowyer couldn't turn it round. Sadly that was the case. If TS expects a replacement by the end of the week they must surely have someone lined up & possibly it's just a matter of agreeing compensation with their current club. Well we'll soon find out. Good luck LB but sadly your time was up.Dazzler21 said:

Does that suggest Plan A has been in place for a while?WSS said:
"My expectation is to have something in place for several years to come. It would have to be a plan B if it's just a caretaker until the end of the season."
It suggests Plan A is to find a replacement and have them appointed by the end of the week.
If we cannot appoint someone, then the plan will be to utilise a caretaker until a replacement can be found after that date.
