pretty obvious it will be Thomas Thomasberg

Danish, has Thomas in his name twice and he is a manager.
    Oh Tommy Tommy, Tommy-Tommy-Tommy-Tommy Tommyberg.

Whoever we appoint, I think we can all agree that their name has to fit in the Allez Allez Allez chant.
NOw we’ve Chris wilder...that’s the only one that we works well.
    "The Cowleys" works fine...
Best thing to do would be to drop the shite chant, and come up with something new.

I wonder whoever we appoint if JJ will be allowed to stay on... I hope so but its probably unlikely which will be a real shame for a loyal servant.

Even though I know it was said in jest.

    But Terry Henry?

I don’t want that cheating barsteward anywhere near my CAFC & nor would any other self respecting CAFC fan with any Irish connection 😡

    JJ suited and booted!

  • the issue with Beale is that do good coaches become good managers?

having a view and advising the manager is completely different to making the call himself in a pressure situation.
Les Reed a perfect example of an excellent coach not necessarily being suited to the manager role.

IMHO it makes no sense. It would be a sentimental appointment.
While I completely understand  the idea of starting fresh away from “Charlton men”

Just for me, I think our best periods have all come from Charlton men. JJ just gets us and knows what it takes to get out this division and to also stay up. I just think he is worth the punt to unite the squad and the club.

Also, I’ve always wanted him to be manager one day so the selfish side of me wants it.

At the risk of sounding naive, I think ‘sentiment’ or ‘fluff’ as I’ve seen it called, is actually more powerful at this level than some people give it credit for.

This is a poor division. However, we’re a club with some decent players that just need bit of a lift to be back on track for next season in my opinion.

Imagine when The Valley re-opens in August with a bumper crowd, and the fans/management/players/owner are all in tune because of that connection. Very few clubs in League One will be able to boast that.

We don’t need a tactical genius in Bielsa or even a Chris Wilder to get out of this league. You just need a decent side and some momentum/positivity.

Bowyer was sucking the latter out of the side completely, and it could just be a friendly face who knows the game a bit to turn things around. Your run-of-the-mill names like Jackett, Harris etc haven’t progressed beyond their level for a reason. At least with JJ you know you’re going to get somebody who is eager to make their mark, and will treat the job as the biggest moment in their career.
  • I think unless he gets the gig full time that JJ will be departing at some point. Can’t see a new bright young thing coach wanting anyone coaching the players other than himself or a tried and trusted number two. Tough on JJ but he’s been around football long enough to know that’s how it works.
Maybe jj would stay as first team coach?

Worth noting that the positivity in the terraces started under Robinson

While the results weren't spectacular, the atmosphere at games was already improving

With JJ in charge for his first game I hope we win big and is allowed to manage at the week end,if we win again would love him to become the manager till end of the season then decide from then

JJ has been a good servant to the club, nothing suggests that he’s about to become a manager that leads a team form the third tier to European football however.

I think Sandgaard already has someone picked out and it could be someone that hasn’t been mentioned frequently on these threads.*

*although this time yesterday I thought it could be Curbs, so what do I know!
