One thing that strikes me is that most posts on here assume that it is axiomatic that we will be in this division next season. In the last two normally completed seasons (17/18 & 18/19 ), the team finishing in the last play off position have got 71 points and 73 points. We are currently in eighth place with 52 points and with 11 games to go. Win 8 of those games and we would have 76 points, win 7 and draw 2 gives us 75 points. A play off place is still a real, if not probable, possibility.
I'll donate £20 to the upbeats if the new man is Danish or American or is unproven in English Football (Less than the one promotion from L1 to Champ/ Champ to Prem)

I don't get this sentiment of it having to be someone with no connection to us. Why? All the best periods we have had were when a Charlton man was in charge. I don't think it HAS to be a Charlton man but I personally like that we do it our way and don't hire in mercenary managers
Our very best period was with a man with no Charlton connection, who virtually spoke a foreign language.
Michael Beale fits the bill for me, but so do several others. [Edit: ok, Charlton connection is a bonus ;-)]
I know Curbs has a Welsh middle name but calling him foreign is a bit of a stretch.
Charles isn't especially Welsh is it? Now, his first name, Llewellyn, on the other hand...

Will you donate £60 if it’s all three?
If it's all three I want compensation for the personal injury it will cause when my jaw hits the floor...
Doubt there's a stat for it, but I'd like to know the success rate of assistant managers/coaches becoming the Manager of the club they are currently at compared with them becoming Manager at a new club? This in light of the Michael Beale mentions I get the feeling it's not too high, but have no real evidence to back it up. Steve Clarke, Paul Clement & Brian Kidd spring to mind. Is an assistant coach settled at a club the better man to take the reigns than an assistant from somewhere else I suppose is what I'm metaphorically asking.
Because of an appointment going to be made quickly does that make it someone who already over here and not an overseas manager ... and someone out of a job
If JJ gets his chance and brings success, I genuinely see him as being as popular as SCP. No doubting the fans love JJ. Even when he was slowing down he gave his all. He'd have the fans with him just like SCP and Bowyer did.

The moment he hit a bad patch of form he’d be ripped apart.
I'd like to know how much input JJ had in Bowyer's decision making before deciding whether he'd be a good choice. Bowyer went from picking a team that 75% of fans would have 90% agreed with, to picking teams that had 95% of fans scratching their heads in disbelief towards the end of his reign. And it always seemed to be the creative, Williams, Morgan, type players who suffered the most. I don't think that will be lost on TS who seems to want us to play open, enjoyable football.

Thats anyone that comes in aswell with some of the toxic fans we have...

Yes I must say I would love to know how much input Jackson has had into the team set up along with in game tactics and strategy. I've been told he loves running.

Plenty of calls 'come in number 4 your times up' at the end of his playing days.

Bob Paisley won far more trophies than Bill Shankly, including three European cups. It could be fairly said that he inherited a good team but he greatly improved it.
Thomas Sandgaard is on record that he wants Premier League football and to be in and around European football in ten years. He’s put in place a Technical Director to oversee the development of all the football aspects of the club from top to bottom with a remit to create a “Charlton style”. He has put into place a very well qualified Commercial Director to increase the clubs off field profile around the world. To think that TS will look to take the easy cheap option in appointing the most important person at the club in first team manager just doesn’t sit with what he says he wants to do. All of the above will be achieved with success on the pitch. Win matches and everything else falls into place. Promotions on the pitch and a full stadium and happy support base looking to spend on things Charlton. It’s actually very simple. The trick to this formula is getting this next appointment right. That will and should cost money but will pay off long term. Simples.
I have already put Bowen down as my preference . He has both top level experience and interestingly is both an outsider and someone with a bona fide Charlton connection .
I am enjoying Curbs on Charlton Player but don't want him to make a comeback . He had his time and it was excellent but we cannot turn the clock back and he has been away too long . I also wonder whether he fancies a comeback . I suspect he enjoys his elder statesman role .
Of the others I like the look of Michael Beale's CV and he seems to be making a bid for the job on twitter . With a background at Chelsea and Liverpool he should be able to get decent loans . However , similar to Johnnie Jackson he would probably need an experienced number 2 . I remember that Mike Bailey had Benny Fenton the ex Millwall boss in the 1980/81 promotion season as his number 2 . I am sure that Benny had a key role in our success and Bailey's development . Is there a similar former manager who would similarly be happy to be an Assistant to an up and coming coach?
Eddie Howe and Chris Wilder are unrealistic but I wouldn't rule out Kenny Jackett . It hasn't worked out for him at Portsmouth but he did take Swansea , Millwall and Wolves up from this level and Pompey have regularly made the playoffs . The ex Millwall tag doesn't bother me . What has happened in football that supporters don't accept managers and players with connections with rival clubs ? You can't get any more archetypal Millwall than Harry Cripps . Arry Boy was loved by our fans and played a crucial role in our 1974/75 promotion team . Also remember that SCP was a Palace player .
Of the others I am unconvinced about Cowleys and want to rule out the likes of Pulis .

Did Chris Powell get “ripped apart” when he hit a bad patch of form?
No. There were criticisms, but nobody was ‘ripping apart’.
Charlton fans in character are generally very supportive. Bowyer’s biggest mistakes were not necessarily his results or the ‘bad patch’, but the way he tried to blame everyone else but himself. That is the sort of thing that gets fans riled.

Or they just want too much money after being at a Championship team
