Just a note that Adkins has been promoted from this league three times.
Another note, the latest one of those was a decade ago.

Times change and not all managers move with it, see Wenger/Mourinho.
So if Wenger could be persuaded by Thomas to take the job you would not agree?

Football hasn't changed that much in 10 years.
Agree 80%. These last two seasons aside.
  • It will be JJ
    No it won't.
Can i just add, it may be, no one knows, but we all have our choices
I am just going by the Thomas interview last night before the game, his body language and words indicated to me he wants to bring someone else in.

    Could be wrong.
  • As said I am not remotely excited for Adkins but if that who it is he gets my support in the same way every other manager has.

  • Don’t care who it is as long as JJ stays involved in some capacity.
  • March 11th interview with Nigel Adkins in the second half of this podcast. Talks a bit about what he’s up to lately, his managerial career and his philosophy etc.

Really telling final question in this interview.

Says he’s had lots of offers from the UK and abroad but wants the right project. Wants to get himself back into Premier League management and to do that you have to go through the Championship. He wants to give his all to his next job, play good football and develop young players for the future. Therefore rules himself out of any short term appointments.

All of the above, along with his reputation for being one of the most positive men in football would blend really well with Thomas in an interview.
That's optimistic, considering he had 2 brief spells in the PL back in 2012/13
  • Is there actually any truth to Adkins? First I saw was a post on here this morning asking if people would like him. Is this just a typical snowballing we see a lot of and then gets picked up elsewhere then turns into everyone having a meltdown or is there actual discussions going on?
  • Adkins sounds like Roddy doing an old mate a favour, doesn't seem to meet the spec TS was laying out.

If the game is crap then at least we can laugh at Wenger trying to get his zip done up on his rain jacket.

  • Redhenry posted saying it "was done" and he has been known to be right.
  • I think that for some people the issue with Adkins is that he comes across as a bit bland. He’s not one of the lads or a loveable character. He’s even called Nigel, FGS.
Personally I don’t care, as long as he gets us out of Div 3.

As yet there is no truth only rumour
  • Adkins is the complete anti of what TS said he wanted.

    Jobs for mates.

    Disappointed.

Agreed and the fact that he is currently 10/11 fav on SkyBet

    It seems not tall enough!

Shall we get Balotelli for teaching how to put on bibs.

  • Surprised all the rumours so far have been for unemployed managers. Lee Bowyer wasn't unemployed when Brum came in for him.

Yeah but there are rumours and then there are rumours based on nothing but someone asking an innocent question.

Assume all those wanting Bowyer out are now hanging their heads. I go on record now on saying if we appoint managers like Adkins, we are heading for Dave Jones and Harry Redknapp. Out of work ex managers who once done something quite good.
I didn’t want Jackson, but now I do.
Why do people who wanted bowyer out need to hang their heads in shame? Bowyer had gone stale and needed to move on.

appointing Adkins, if it happens has nothing to do with whether people wanted bowyer gone. Bowyer walked by the way, which created the vacancy, rather than him being sacked by fan pressure.

im very underwhelmed by Adkins but can’t see why I should be hanging my head.

Good shout, if Thomas really is ambitious why don't we tap a few managers up.

Is it Wengers fault that the board didn't back him to replace players of the same calibre as Henry , Pires , Gilbeto Silva, Campbell ,Bergkamp ect.  Or is it that he just hadn't been playing the latest football manager and reading management tutorials and thats why arsenal didn't do as well once they moved to the emirates.

Can't decide how I'd feel about Adkins.
    (I know, super insightful)
