Can't decide how I'd feel about Adkins.
    (I know, super insightful)
No worries Dazz, Thomas & Ged just said take your time and they will make the call once you make your mind up.
They said last night it'll be the opposite of whoever Doucher suggests...
  • Would appear to fulfill  TS’s requirements. Only concern would be the time passed since successful
  • On paper he is a solid choice to get promotion and stabilised us as a championship club
  • Adkins sounds like Roddy doing an old mate a favour, doesn't seem to meet the spec TS was laying out.
can you explain how they are old mates, I'm intrigued to know their relationship?
Humble apologies, thought they were at Reading together but it was different periods. Still miffed though if TS and GR are making plans for Nigel.

    hearing Adkins, Cowley pompey
    Was Cowley our first choice?

If he was you should have got him. Geography was in your favour. He who hesitates is lost.

I'm all-in on Adkins. Proven track record of getting out of this horrible, stinking division, which is what matters most. And he's a tactical coach and a motivator.

    Bring him home!

I can understand people being disappointed when they've been imagining Premier League managers, but come on...
14, 12 and 10 years ago.  That’s why people are disappointed, I think that’s easy to understand.

For those who kept saying that you didn't want a Charlton connection, and that you wanted someone experienced - Nigel Adkins is the sort of manager you get when you're a League One club.

    Underwhelming, isn't it.....?

Or, we could have someone like Jackson who can bring the bond between the fans and players back together again. This in turn builds up a momentum which very few sides in our division will have. But then again, its all 'sentiment' and 'fluff' apparently...

A manager who with good backing put together a league 1 team were half of them played for the club in the Premier league.

Back to back promotions.  Attacking football.

    3 promotions from this division.

I really don't get the negatives?
I totally agree. Some people on here would be happier with a Rangers coach who's never managed before! Nigel has a proven track record so give the bloke a chance!

Unless got amnesia in that time i don't see what the problem is?

Eddie Howe last got out of it 8 years ago.

Adkins has only had one attempt in those 10 years.  Its not like he has been managing at this level for the last 10 years is it?

Have we ever appointed a manager that has had 3 promotions from the divison we are in and 1 from the divison above??

The problem is we are aren’t focussing on his recent record.
  • I can see JJ until the end of the season.

If it is Adkins, that strikes me as a lazy, unambitious decision. His successes are all in the distant past now. The guy is obviously desperate for a job - any job, which implies that he's probably cheap too. We had more than enough of that approach under RD.

I remain hopeful that this rumour is false.
  • If JJ was kept on under Adkins I’d be up for that. He would learn a lot and his connection with the club, the squad, and the fans would be maintained.
  • if he keeps JJ then Adkins will do for me, experience in this league - good to see he's going to be given a chance by the fans eh !!
  • We must be a decent prospect for anyone wanting a job now TS is backing us.  We sort of lived off the Prem years that Curbs brought us when we went down and the general stability under Varney & Murray.  We lost that when RD took over and we became a shit show, but now with TS running us, we must be such a good option

  • Did work at reading as the same time as Ged Roddy?
  • It's probably not the name people wanted but then some of the names mentioned have also been pie in the sky. We are a league 1 club at the end of the day irrespective of how ambitious TS might be. I'd have liked JJ to get more time but that's more on the basis of him being am up and coming coach rather than the "Charlton man" obsession so many people seem to have

    No
  • I really don’t know who I fancy for job , all I hoped was that whoever is announced I would be able to say , yeah that’s ok.
    Not feeling that with Adkins

    When's your cutoff point?
  • Give it to Curbs over Adkins any day.

This is what I’m always worried about when people think the grass is greener. Bowyer had had a blip recently and things weren’t improving much but if we end up with Adkins, wtf, it will be a terrible trade for me. And everyone saying “get JJ in, he knows the club” wtf to you too - Bowyer knew the club and when he struggled everyone said it was too sentimental.
  • Do we have any players that will have played under Adkins? Gunter springs to mind from Reading.

I tend to look at the last five years max, and one who’s record has improved over the years not got worse!
