  • As I said I don’t get all the negativity. I’d welcome Adkins with welcome arms and think he will take us up next season.

Would love him to achieve it with JJ by his side but think he will bring his own team with him.

Anyway let’s all get behind him if he is appointed as our new Manager and see where the journey takes us.
Can we stop talking about journeys, the last bloke we had kept banging on about that!!!!!🤣🤣

I'm not knocking those achievements, he is a good manager and I have wanted him at Charlton before, but that team had David Meylor, Jarod Bowen, Fikayo Tomori, Tod Kane, Seb Larson, Abel Hernandez and Michael Hector to name a few. We could appoint worse, but if we are going away from a Charlton connection we could go for someone a bit more inspiring
    Who realistically would be inspiring?
Jimmy Floyd hasselbaink, Paul Cook, Lee Johnson. There’s 3 in our division alone.
All three who are under contract in new jobs recently started. Lol, you could not make it up.
Inspiring choices was the question not everything Tom Dick and Harry out of work currently. What makes a hell of lot more sense is to wait to the summer to find the right person In a club currently than someone who has been out of work for nearly 2 years.

JFH? Him and his big arse have been a thing of ridicule on here for years ffs. It would take a bit more than him managing a few wins at Burton for me to find him inspiring.
Ahh beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Hey whatever floats your boat, I’m not one to judge.

With regards to Adkins I mentioned I'd heard mumurs of him last night on here which set off the initial chain reaction. Appreciate I've never been ITK before but I thought it was worth sharing, happily take the stick if I'm wrong.

In terms of the source, I obviously can't say who it is but it's someone I met around the time of the takeover. I didn't think there was anything worth sharing before because there wasn't really any info that hadn't already been mentioned.

I was underwhelmed when I first heard the name but on reflection I'm optimistic for our future.
But you deleted your first comment that said you thought he'd be worth a shout. You then later posted you'd heard a rumour that we are in for him. Seems an odd way of posting if you already had the information at the time of the first post and if you didn't it's a huge coincidence.
Yeah I'd had it mentioned to me on Monday but I didn't know if it was just a name or had any substance to it at that point. I don't really know why I deleted my initial comment tbh. I then had it mentioned again last night and it seemed like it had some legs to it so I thought I'd share.

    Bonkers! Absolutely bonkers!
You wouldn’t want any of them?
The question stated the world realistic.

    Hasselbaink not great at QPR...
    Paul Cook just joined Ipswich...
Lee Johnson just won a free pizza with Sunderland... He also slagged us off away at Bristol City last season when they scored an injury time winner, and again when we scored a late winner at home against them.
  • What’s realistic? Just Nigel Adkins?
  • Likewise I've come around to the Adkins idea a bit more now, looking at it as a footballing project he could be a good appointment it getting the footballing philosophy laid down along with Roddy - much like how Saints have been operating in recent years.

And if JJ is still on the coaching staff then that's some good experience for him to work with and learn off.

Still would prefer a Nathan Jones/ Beale type appointment though. I think. Maybe. Yes?!?
The Jed link with Adkins is understandable.
Quite where that leaves Steve Gallen is another question.
  • The more you think about it, the better the fit Mr Adkins is. Attacking football, promotes the youth, successful.
I will be calling him Atkins from day one. 😉
  • @flyingkiwiDK I saw you mention Glenn riddersholm - is that based on anything or just a hunch? I recall you had good connection with a Danish journalist before

Everyone keeps saying “younger more exciting appointment” what exactly do they mean?
Probably Eddie Howe who they forget failed at Burnley

    Behave Sam.
He was unsettled as soon as he went to Burnley. It was the wrong move for him.
His record at Bournemouth compares to the mighty Jimmy Seed.
Eddie Howe should be offered the Palace job as Roy Hodgson is getting long in the tooth. (He should turn it down and come to a proper club where he can build a football legacy)

I will never forget the master class when they won the Championship and played the ball to Yann on the ground and every one ran off him, with Pugh, Wilson, Richie, etc playing a fantastic pass and move game.

Most managers will "fail' in the end. Or at the beginning of their tenure if they are not given time.

If Abramovich was in charge at United when Man utd were losing 2-0 to Cafc,  Ferguson would have gone the same way as Frank Lampard. Even under the Martin Edwards era he was one cup defeat away from the sack.

  • So much complaining about Adkins. I trust Sandgaard to make an informed decision
  • TS said he’s be looking for a manager that can get us through the next few years (or words to they effect),  Nads would comfortably work out for us between League 1 and e.g upper Championship

Adkins the physio? Just caught up on this? Last night I was encouraged that we would get JJ or if not someone far superior. Not a has been? He is in a downward spiral hence no one wanting him. My instinct is that this would be another mid table finish in L1 under his helm. He is totally barking too.  Whereas Jackson could be something special....
  • Just seen JJ on Quest after our game last night.
I was honestly happy for TS to decide who he wanted for our manager.
But feck me, I will fight Bows if he takes JJ, I mean it 😩😩😩😩😩
Yes, that interview was a lot more “I want the job” than the Valley Pass one

Jackson is bargain bucket. I love the bloke, but we don't need to take a gamble on cheap managers anymore. We've got a decent owner who can appoint an experienced gaffer, with a a track record of success.

Priority is getting out of this league. If we're appointing managers purely on sentiment, we may as well have stuck with Bowyer and enjoyed mid table.

As for Adkins 'downward spiral'. He took Hull from 20th to 13th, in the championship. What's downward about that?
Interesting comment about him being “totally barking” too, care to elaborate Banstead.
