Don't rate him at all but has AMB set the world alight at Ross County - currently sitting on their bench.
Had made himself the clear first choice until getting a nasty nose injury in a game against one of the Glasgow clubs. Rangers I think.

So whats the verdict on Big Mac? I'm really unimpressed, Portsmouth POTY last season and was generally considered an upgrade on Amos. Doesn't come for any crosses, distribution poor and i can think of 5 goals this season he's cocked up for. Give AMB a chance next season i think
Pompey lost him and replaced him with a lad who Man city had loaned to Rochdale. That tells you a lot.
*** Bazunu is the Irish number 1. Don’t think it’s a fair comparison as he clearly won’t be in league 1 next season.

I think the only fair comparison is comparing MacG to Amos. No brainier who is the better keeper.

Only made his full international debut this season. He has competition from Kelleher at Liverpool for the number 1 shirt. A good position to be in for Ireland.

Hasn't started since - not sure if down to the injury.

Yesterday seemed to me he was doing that thing of trying to dive acrobatically as if for a picture rather than just getting in the right place at the right time.

Also a lot of animated running around in his own box when trying to throw out quickly and then didn’t. As if to say it’s not me I’m trying to get us back in the game.

Poor distribution to his defenders on more than one occasion.

Poor yesterday. Doesn’t escape criticism as we have come to expect from our goalkeepers generally.
  • He’s been rubbish for weeks .

I'm not throwing blame on any singular player, they're mostly shit at the moment.
  • I’m not expecting Kiely at his best in this league but if you are meant to be an on the line keeper, surely you need to keep a good percentage out of the net. I’ll let him off the first one but I was right behind the third and he didn’t move his feet well at all .  The second was straight through his body .

MacG is always superglued to his goal line. He drops clangers. He's a decent shot stopper but nothing special. He also can't seem to save a penalty for his life.

Gallen said they were considering making AMB our #1 last season, surely he should be for next season.
  • The two saves at the end were right at him, and he still dropped the last one even though it was hit fairly softly. Routine saves but half through fanbase have gotten so used to mediocrity, they clamour over him for it

  • I've had enough of him now tbh. Doesn't come for anything, distribution is poor and even his famed shot stopping ability seems to have disappeared the last few games. He made a fantastic double save at 1-0 but that 2nd goal was just a routine one straight at him! Hes not helped by the shit in front of him, but its simple stuff that he should be dealing with and he's not. I'd rather give Harness a go, but isn't he out on loan somewhere?

Nathan Harness went on a month’s loan to Dulwich Hamlet from 22 January.

He's already back... Was on the pitch yesterday
  • When the Dulwich number one goalkeeper Grainger recovered, he was reinstated in the first team.
Harness was our substitute yesterday, I would be pleased to see him start on Tuesday personally.
  • I think it's time for a change. You young lads need a chance now. Didn't realise Harness was back, so he should get a shot at it in Tuesday.
  • For someone who's meant to be a good shot-stopper. He doesn't stop a lot of shots. Poor keeping for their 2nd yesterday.
  • I'll say yet again, if we have real ambitions towards promotion next season, we need a much better keeper than MacGillivray

  • There must be a reason he was Pompey's player of the year.  WTF do we do to all these players that were performing for their previous clubs?
  • This lack of coming out for crosses, I don’t think a few months playing GAA would improve things.

Undoubtedly brave, but that Hitler look is a bit unfortunate.
  • He's been poor since his partner gave birth (as I expected).

I assume all other goalkeepers plan to have their kids in June ?
  • Dreadful keeper. The worst Charlton number 1 I’ve ever seen.
  • He's not dreadful but he's certainly a downgrade on Amos

That's just an easy excuse and has nothing to do with his performances (before or after the birth).
He has not commanded his box all season and has cost us goals week in and week out. Yes he makes some good saves (so do all goalkeepers) but not anywhere near enough to compensate for his many other failings.
