For their wages you could probably have gotten a very decent L1 CM.
Were using Morgan in the hope we can save ourselves a few quid.
Gunter at LB, enough said.
Steve Gallen has made a few mistakes in his time here, but not this many in one window. It stinks of a certain unnamed bald figure doing a totally useless job.
Even though TS cares, he’s massively fucked up with the way he’s running this club.
The worst Charlton side I have seen in my 30 years. Clueless players, clueless management . Happily never see Morgan play for us ever again. Love to know how Gunter has over 100 caps for his country. So much shit to pick out of that. Hate the lot of them
100% agree - we were really bad when we went down to Division 3 in the early 1980s
I mean, it was shit, but for 70 minutes it was shit that we had an element of control over. Dobson and Watson are not fun to watch but together they were on top in midfield and the back four was protected. I didn’t get the subs. It opened us up wide open again and immediately the back four was creaking. In return for the gamble we produced absolutely fuck all in attack.
Adkins takes a huge slice of responsibility for not coming away with a point today.
Where the attacking is concerned, we look like there has been little to no coaching going on. There’s no game plan there. We aren’t trying to get overloads out wide and get crosses in. We aren’t getting players close enough to Stockley to win second balls coming off the big fella. We don’t play any neat triangles. There just doesn’t seem to be a plan. If there is it isn’t being followed.
The defence that looked so solid and organized last season has also lost something.
There really is a worrying amount wrong with the playing side right now and it’s not just the apparent lack of quality in the players.
Still… Adkins will tell us all the positives there were today so it’ll be fine as long as we believe it’s fine. Much better than having someone point out how shit we are and risk making a few people feel a bit sad, eh?
I have never experienced such utter dross. First followed Charlton back in 1966. Believe this is, league-wise, the lowest the club have ever sunk. Seems any clown or spiv is OK to run a football club nowadays. Seems any "has been" can still find a place in football management. Love the 21st century and its values?
All put in an honest stint. Perhaps not "World Class" footballers, but all "Real" footballers, playing under "Real" managers, with the club in "local" ownership. Charlton had a chance..........
Meanwhile Ethels (EFLs) love child sits smugly on top of the division, by design. Football, the beautiful game.........
Ffs, not another one who wants to go on about 1960 all the time
The man has bought a club and balked at how much money he is going to lose a season. That's why this 'budget' has come into play and brought us to this point.
Our team look like children who took a different route home from the local park and got lost, and now it’s dark and late, and all want their mummy’s. Absolutely pathetic and clueless.
We never look like scoring and always looked lke conceding when Wigan got in positions to cross. MacG with three great saves to keep us in it. We might have done better defensively for their first goal to prevent the cross or mark the player at the far post. It was a very good cross though from their player.
If nothing changes, we will struggle to even finish midtable. We have to start games without a left back and three midfielders who aren't up to League One football. Not saying this to knock them, they are trying but reality is they are just not good enough. And then you look to the bench and you see there is no one there to change the game either.
If you take future injuries out of the equation, we can change this with three players. Two when Purrington is back. Both have to be midfielders with specific attributes.
I hate watching us lose however having followed Charlton all my life its become a bit of a habit so you do kind of get used to it.
However there is a way to lose football matches and I must say there is something really off-putting about how NA sets us up and his style of play, I know he could argue he hasn't got the players yet however some of our tactics and style of play is really not pleasing on the eye.
It's a results business so I dare say nobody including myself will be complaining if he gets us promoted with this style however it almost makes a loss feel worse when we play with such poor tactics. The worst thing is we don't even look like we are any good at implementing the style!
I'm always glass half full so there is plenty of time yet however I do hope this isn't the brand of football we are planning on using for the rest of the season otherwise win, draw or lose it'll be a long old slog watching us.
Whys there always more of a rush for a moan up when we lose.
You honestly need help answering that question????
Because we have lost 4 out of 5. We have scored a penalty and from a free kick in 5 games. We are in the relegation zone in the third tier of English football for the first time in the majority of Charlton fans lives.
@blackpool72 was right, Sandy has bitten off more than he can chew, AND even if he came up with a couple of million for new players, Adkins is not the manager to trust with a talented squad .. the players are working hard but they are not being managed well, they have no leadership on the field, Stockley for all his enthusiasm is not the man to captain the side and team spirit looks to be on a stalling downward dive .. we need to pull out of this slump soon or a miserable season will happen and relegation will be a distinct possibility

I don't care if everybody knows the squad isn't strong enough. This is beyond a joke.
We have NOTHING.
We simply cannot continue to back this set up. Adkins, whether the right man or not, has simply been left with the bare bones.
We are in trouble.
We could be adrift by next Saturday. The senior management team have seriously misjudged our squad and the strength of this division.
Words fail me, because I've been saying the same thing over and over for weeks.
This isn't a points scoring forum. A bit like Charlton aren't a points scoring team.
Utterly depressed and can't see it changing unlesd TS gets the chequebook out.
Deluded.

45 years here

After Oxford, it was more like 4-5.
After MK, it seemed to be 5-6.
After today, I’m thinking 7-8.
Why are we four games into the season and still talking about bringing in new players? We should have had a full squad before preseason started.
The honeymoon is over, sort this shit out now, otherwise it will be league 2 next season.
He stood on the pitch at the end of last season & said 'that'll be us next year' when Hull were celebrating.
I think he genuinely thought it at the time. I believe the budget he was promised at the time has been stripped back.
Sandgaard, Roddy & maybe even Gallen have seriously let Adkins down in my opinion

That has all been true for 3 months by the way.

do you have any positives to take from today?
