Groin tear and operation with a return to a U23 game in under 3 months is good going.

Anyone know when he’ll be back? Seemed to all be positive a couple of weeks back but gone quiet again.

Would be a massive boost to have him back in the squad.

A boost to the squad .  Not sure he gets in the side.

Clare playing well and Inniss is a man mountain so I’d agree, for now.

Depends how long Inniss can go without picking up a knock or Clare can keep up his form playing in an unfamiliar position.

Lavelle is an unfortunate position. Pretty much made himself undroppable before injury and now will find it hard to get back in.

Well with Inniss having a minor hamstring strain, we could do with him on  Saturday for a start, even if just on the bench

Yes please, I'd like Lavelle back. Can score from a corner and is a good leader.

If Innis is out and Pearce coming out of his purple patch, he does have a role to play in the 1st 11 still.

Even if Inniss is fit I'd be tempted to give him a game at LCB, see if he can pass it better than Famewo. Not his natural side mind

(or indeed play Inniss there and him at CCB)
  • Two tough away games in the northwest next week, perfect for Lavelle to make his comeback

  • Jackson talking the other week seemed to suggest he's fully back with the squad now

Little surprised he's not had more U23 game time, especially a full match

Nice to have the problem of competition for places.

Lavelle is fine but doesn't strike me as someone that will go above League One.
He's another one who's got better and better the longer he's been out of the squad.

He also played all his football for us under Adkins other than part of JJs first game as caretaker this season.

Dobson and Clare have shown some wrote them off far too early and they both have the potential to step up to the Championship in time.

Fair point. I like Lavelle, but I see him as a replacement for Pearce. Innis and Famewo are comfortably the best CBs at the club

He's great for when Innis is injured (which is most of the time) and I think Famewo is having a really bad season to the standards he set in his first one. Hopefully he can turn it around.

Lavelle is our best centre back. He walks back into this team.

Some of you know how to welcome back a player with a good attitude from injury!

After a slow and clumsy start, he was starting to show some ability. Like when he actually got his injury, hard pressing a foreard back to the half way line before a slip.

I can't see the fuss about Lavelle yet.  At no point has he looked like the next Beckenbauer thus far

For all the shit Inniss took for getting two injuries he is dominant when he plays.  I wonder if Lavelle gets the same hard time for missing a similar amount of game time

Eh? Not even two top from what I've seen. Too early to properly judge Lavelle, but he was fairly underwhelming before his injury.

You can't play down Ryan's injuries like that. He played 13 games last year and has played 9 this year. The most he has ever managed in his career is 22.

It's not a dig at Lavelle, it's just typical of our fanbase. Like you said he had a clumsy starts and was just starting to find some consistency, but apparently now he's clearly our best CB and walks back into the team?

We sign nothing but world beaters, it's just that they're only at that level when they're out injured.
  • I think he's excellent. Not gonna get in the side ahead of Innis when fit and probably not quite a good enough passer to regularly play on the left or right of the back 3. But he is strong and consistent, the perfect player to have as cover for all 3 roles if needed but also you know he is going to play a significant number of games each year due to Innis fitness and I'd be very comfortable with him doing that.

Will hopefully be a nice problem to have, having 4 options for 3 places, rather than the normal 2 and a "he'll have to cover".  Inniss isn't going to play week in, week out either.

May make Clare at RWB an option too.

Need to watch him more then. Was one of the only bright points under Adkins.

Depends what you're looking for in a player.

I like Lavelle, a blood and guts type of centre half a la Jason Pearce, you need them.
  • Lavelle would have been a very useful replacement for Inniss on monday night. More like for like than Pearce.  And Inniss won't play every week sadly.

I agree with this. If he can stay fit I think he will also become captain.

Spot on.  The fan base is far too quick to judge the players and like you say only get better when out injured (in a lot of cases).  Far too many of the squad is average and I base this on where we are in the league table, but to hear the way some go on about our players its like we have suffered a 30 points deduction this season for our league position to be where it is
