I’ve tried hard to find the positives in every match this season, which hasn’t always proved easy. But today I couldn’t see any, other than Lee’s cameo.
Abject performance in every way. Awful substitution too, which only highlighted the lopsided bench, with Watson the only midfield option.
Nigel knows the buck stops with him, and I think he should go ASAP to give a replacement enough time to sort the mess out.
Just been reminded of a game where Robert Lee had to go off because he had lost a contact lens when playing at Selurst. We lost that game too.
After improved performances since Gills away inclusive, lots wrong yesterday to unpack so here goes...
All football played in our own half after Lee went off and we were only average up to that point. It wasnt the massive game changer NAds is trying to make out.
We only kept the ball when we passed backwards which was lots. As soon as we ventured forwards we quickly lost possession.
Left side of defence weak. Soare frequently out of position, and Famewo (who doesn't look fit enough) offered very poor distribution.
Kirk and Gilbey in midfield anonymous for such talented players at this level.
Davison isolated up front and out muscled by 2 defenders who had their deck chairs and cigars out in the autumn sunshine.
Starting formation needed changing in game again because it was obviously not working. Why not start with 2 up top and therefore work with that shape all week rather than it always being a plan b.
Wingers are crucial for 4231 to work effectively yet we had no width. Lincoln showed us how to use them, constantly pinging balls to their wingers hugging the touchline who ran at us putting us on the back foot with streams of dangerous crosses as the end product. If lincoln had a finisher they would have been out of sight.
This is the most talented and biggest squad we've had in our 8 seasons I've seen us play in this league yet we look miles away from what i expect in both results and performance. Over a quarter of the season in and sadly yesterday showed me that I was wrong in thinking we had turned the corner.

Like father like son.
We drew that game, and got promoted at the end of that season
Against my better judgement I decided to go yesterday and the only good thing about the entire day was meeting up with plenty of mates including half a dozen fellow lifers for a pre match drink and chat.
As for the game itself all has already been said by many on here. How we can look so utterly shite after having two weeks to prepare is beyond me.
We are getting progressively worse at the moment and I agree Adkins has to go. The trouble is with Roddy advising Sandgaard who will replace him. This season is a total disgrace. Sandgaard needs to change the whole management structure at the club for us to improve. But sadly I don't think he will.
Lincoln is a very odd place, city centre was a mixture of new and old but unlike a lot of city/town centre it seemed to be a vibrant place. Leave that part and go towards the ground and its like the part that time forgot.
We were nothing more than ok before Lee went off but that was better than what followed afterwards. The choice of replacement and putting Kirk in the centre showed exactly why this group of players are struggling, we we are in the relegation zone and why this manager is the major part of why we are so bad at presant.

Just seen the goals.that first is criminal, wtf is he doing if you dont want to catch it,punch it half way up the pitch, second is a just bizarre,no time left ,2 men unmarked in the box We should have kept Pratley,he would probably have been the fittest one in the team, and would certainly not have allowed the midfield to be exposed as happening at the moment. What do goalkeeping coaches do,it is obvious,Mac wont come and catch crosses(Like Amos did).FFs,keep him behind after training, spend an hour with one of the youth players crossing the ball and get him to improve. We created so many attacks last year when Amos caught the ball and quickley got it up to Milller ,now, nothing. You see all top keepers do this, every now and then a misjudgement but in general keepers who come for crosses are well in credit. Why do we keep changing the full backs, decide your best two and play them, until a change is needed,NA is just trying to keep everyone happy, that does not win games. If Kirk is still affected by his loss(which he is certainly entitled to be)then he should be nowhere near the team, how can the stick he is getting be helping him. I have to say that I am rapidly losing my affection for this club,we are becoming a laughing stock,TS was like breath of fresh air,but clearly lacked the knowledge of running a football club,he is clearly being wrongly advised,he needs to get football men in who have been there and done it(,Yes Curbishley would be first on the list to be emp[loyed in some capacity).Should Adkins go,well on the balance of results, yes but who know what goes on behind the scenes . Rant over roll on tuesday.
Thought I would wake up Sunday and find Roddy and Adkins gone and their completely failed system with them. TS needs to understand this will not change, the system has failed for at least ten games now and yet Adkins persists. The players can't or won't adapt, for me it's the former, they know that there is no cover for our full backs but most of this division is of that opinion as well. For the first few games it was 'squad is light' then we have 'They are lacking in fitness', there is no excuse now and nearly everyone on here can see that this prefered system is the reason for poor performances and lack of results. Sadly I now want Charlton to lose the next game not paper over the cracks till we produce another poor performance, the last time I felt like that was when Pardew was coming to the end of his chaotic reign and he was another who thought he was always right.
Looking at the performances of the two teams on the day, not one Charlton player would have got into Lincoln's team. Appleton has gone for hungry, ambitious youngsters, has scouted well in Ireland and the Scottish lower leagues and has assembled a good squad which only lacks i m o some size and power in midfield and up front. Adkins or whoever is in charge of our recruitment has gone for 'experience' which too often has meant over the hill and injury prone players or for loaning players who no other club seems to want. That lack of quality allied to erratic team selection and tactics will mean relegation at worst unless drastic action is taken. Adkins out NOW so that a new man can properly assess our overmanned squad in time for January, provided of course that Sandy puts up enough cash to pay for some desperately needed reinforcements as well as the discarding of at least ten non performers
chatted to a few Linconians on the way back to the station. Most seemed genuinely shocked that 'a club as big as Charlton' (sic) put up such a dire performance. They regarded me with pitying looks akin to what they'd give a man dying from an incurable illness
Can we give Hendo a go between the sticks? Or Harness??
McG is poor, as you say, time for the return of big Steve .. nothing spreads a lack of confidence throughout a team as much as a dodgy keeper' s frailties

I am beginning to think our football club is dying from an incurable disease. We finally get a proper owner and a manager with pedigree and we still manage to fcuk up.
Now, when you are coming up short in comparison to one of the most hapless, out of his depth managers in the clubs history its not a good place to be, is it.
Compelling stats for change. Thanks for posting Jnr.
It was weird yesterday the 2 players that have shown a desire to make things happen so far CBT & Leko were basically anonymous the pundits keep saying we have fitness issues with the squad. Who is responsible for general fitness ? At this rate by the time we are up to fitness the season will be over. There has to be some bollox going on at the club behind the scenes no way those players in our squad are as bad as the performances they are putting out.

Sorry, but I disagree. The only old 'uns we signed were Pearce & Watson, with Arter coming in on loan. All the rest we signed were around early to mid 20's. The other over 30's were already here (Gunter & Matthews) and they are out of contract next summer anyway.
You cant pin this seasons performances on aging or injury prone players. I stand by what I posted in late June & early July - signings not made early enough and/or the right players. Stockly, Dobson & Clare were 3 of the "early" signings - none started yesterday & only Stockley made the bench....meaning the 2 main summer signings before the season started were nowhere to be seen.
Although I don't think Adkins is doing a good job & ultimately he will be the one to go, the fault of why we are still in the bottom 4 after 12 games lies mainly with TS, SG & Roddy. I would like to try to say who is most culpable but seeing as they keep reiterating that the transfer policy is down to a collective decision then all 3 are to blame. I also feel that Adkins doesn't have much say in who is brought in, because surely if these were ALL his players he would have a system & game plan to match.
Highlight of yesterday was getting home to Barnehurst by 20.45. As for the game - worse performance of the season - don’t remember their keeper making a save as we had no efforts on goal apart from the shot for the goal. Other than passing across our back line we couldn’t link passes together any where else on the pitch. Our two wingers left the full backs exposed to two Lincoln players yet when our wingers did get the ball somehow Lincoln had two players marking them. Majority of passes (lumps upfield) forward went straight out of play or nowhere near our forward players and on the rare occasions they did the forwards couldn’t control the ball and lost possession. Harry Arter was he only midfielder who seemed to want to make a challenge and was probably lucky not to be sent off. Keeper never comes for a cross and kicking out is poor. Losing Lee did effect us but what is done in training to work on options for player changes and different formations.
A new ground ticked off for me and a big complement to the stewards who handled the ‘attempts’ to break out of the away end very professionally and in a non confrontational manner.
I can’t see how the current management team can change this and there needs to be a change.

Decent drive home.
Cue the typical changes of bringing in Pearce and Watson as if they're Chiellini and Gattuso. This is beyond a joke.

Shit players (one or two are top 6 let's be honest)
Shit manager
Shit transfer window
Add all those together aaaaaand you get a relegation battle, shock, that's where we are.
An exercise in humility.
