Bye Nige, regardless of any other factors he had to go, wish him well.

Not expecting much in the way of changes tbh, hopefully get that "new manager bounce".

If Charlton are relying on those two then see you in division 4...
What's the alternative at this precise moment?

TS needs to take some time to get it right (or less wrong, nothing is guaranteed).
  • They could do with asking Steve Brown for advice on defending!
By the time Browny's finished talking the season will be almost over and it'll be too late!

Jackson for me. But I understand the reservations.
From the above list, Wilder. If you can’t get him then Lowe, and let him bring his entire staff. No getting him in the door to work with what we have here. That doesn’t work.

A decent man but one seemingly not really given the back-up within the club to succeed and his departure has been inevitable for weeks.
It makes you wonder why this decision was not reached a month ago.

Has he posted a video today of him walking & spouting how wonderful life is....😄
Make the most of the day Golfie.
  • Calm down with writing off Jackson after 30 minutes.

He has his pro licence and he is a natural leader with 445 matches in his locker behind him and has seen how 20 odd managers/ head coaches set up their teams.

I would expect Sunderland to win because how ever we set up they have a better side than us. Anyone disagree with that statement ?

The Doncaster and Rotherham home matches will be a test of a change of mentality.

You can't get blood from a stone, but we will improve under JJ and Jason and resemble a team.
Having a licence doesn’t make you a decent coach. JJ should have gone as well. The sooner a permanent manager is appointed the better

  • As many others have said, he's a decent bloke and it's sad that it didn't work, but this was becoming inevitable and best to get it done quickly which gives the next manager time to get established before the transfer window opens. My worry is that I think a lot of the problem is with the Director of Football model, so while team management may improve the crucial problem that we don't have the right mix of players may not. We'll see. Obviously I hope I'm wrong as none of us want to explore League 2.

I have long been an advocate of giving JJ a chance. That is what he should have, not a managerial contract but a chance to show he is worthy of one.  Nobody knows how it will go but everybody has to start somewhere and he has had his education. Now feels like the right time and he will sink or swim. I'm sure we all hope it is the latter.

Jacko interim, curious to see who we go for for permanent manager
    Indeed
Remember when Bow went and Adkins came in?  Sandgaard boasted about the systems he'd installed and how we'd reap the benefit of smooth continuity in such circumstances.

Imagine Roddy has made his recommendation already ... or is sweating like a pig.

To be fair, Jacko might turn out to be a better manager than he is a coach.

Time for the players to show up now and perform.
  • As others  have said he had to go, results were dreadful. Jacko the answer?, I wait to be convinced personally, but  should be given a  fair chance, in any case we are in for a scrap, and the players have to have a good look at themselves and perform. The investment in the new year looks like a rebuild of the team, wether TS will dig deep into his pocket, we shall see?

OK folks, one last time and then we can all move on.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to the 57 arseholes that LOLd me back in March when I pointed out that Adkins was an “awful appointment.”

Also in my thoughts and prayers are the jokers that tied themselves in knots trying to convince people that his 33% win rate at Hull was not an abject failure.

To be fair though compared to this season with us - win ratio of 15.3% - his time at Hull was a raging success.

After Jacko won that game vs Bristol Rovers we should have given him the job till the end of the season to see how he went, there was really nothing to lose.

    Now there very much is.

    You’re so cool and clever

JJ might be part of the coaching but he is only doing what his manager is asking him to do.

IF he does see things differently then now is his big chance.
  • I listened to TS on the radio, he was asked what he wants from a new manager and TS explained is to get the players fit.

My first question to that is, isn't that as much down to the coaches if not more so, then I would be thinking what has JJ & Jason Euell been doing for the last few months.

He went on further to say JJ will be given time to grow in to the role.  I hope for all our sakes JJ gets the bounce expected but not guaranteed for sure.

This is JJs chance to join Curbs and Chrissy as undisputed Charlton legends. It isn't anything technical but I just have a feeling he is going to take it. As long as he gets a fair chance.
  • Let’s face facts. This is Charlton Athletic we’re talking about here. It’s only a matter of time before we’re in another crisis. It’s just the way it is.

The board meeting probably went something like this:

TS: yeh, I've just read charltonlife. Bloke called dave2l said jacko should be caretaker manager. He's a genius and knows everything about football.
    That's what we're going for.

TS wife: yeh can't go wrong with that. Dave's are usually right about stuff.

Jacko ought to get it on a permanent basis. Ignore all that lack of experience nonsense, everyone has got to start somewhere. He's more managerial experience at a higher level than Nathan Jones had when he got the Luton gig and he ain't done too bad!
Jacko is passionate and intelligent and someone we can all readily get behind!
    COYR!
I am sure Steve Brown thought that too when he went into management. As we’ve seen Brown talks a bloody good game, but couldn’t convert it into wearing a suit and tie on the bench.
We are desperate for an experienced manager because we are deep in the doo do at the moment, and now isn’t a time to try things.
Maybe but hasn't Jacko overseen a win in every game that he's been in charge of?

Of course having your pro licence doesn't make you a good coach or a bad coach in practice but with his leadership qualities on the field garnered from 450 matches and being the conduit with the fans when Cafc were imploding under Duchatelet tenure he has the DNA of Charlton Athletic and deserves to see if he can turn 25 individuals into a team.

To me it sounds like Jackson's been doing a bit of sandbagging so he could get the job.

Having him as assistant when he was desperate for the managers job seemed a bit of a bad decision. Turned out that way too.
