  • Now let's get 3 and 4
No no no. I’ve gone for 2-0 in the Prediction League. Keep it tight, lads. You’ve already shown these non-Leaguers what football is all about.
    Well played, lads
FFS Hendo, you could have let them have a late consolation  ;)

Job done. Poor defensively and were turned round far too easily. Too much space behind the wing backs. Good performances from Henderson and Elewere. The rest a bit meh.
  • That'll do nicely. These games are always and only about getting through.

Bearing in mind our back 3 have never played together, and a reserve team goalie, keeping a clean sheet is a real achievement.
This, I really don’t think it’s been the poor defensive display some are eluding to all things considered.
But we don’t have anyone to come in Tuesday to improve it do we?

Granted the wing backs can sit further back but that’s not ideal in a game we need to win.

Surprised he doesn't want Fulham or Chelsea away.

He'll sound right at home in that corner of London

  • We're through to the 3rd Round which is the main thing. Typical tricky away tie which you're expected to win and Gateshead have nothing to lose.

A more comfortable 2nd half but thanks to some very non-league finishing we didn't concede the 3 or 4 goals we could have done. Way too many good chances given away to the opposition.

Tough game for Deji which he improved in as it went on but can't say any standout players tonight despite a strong side being put out.

Are there any more Conference North / South teams that we can face in the next round?
    Buxton (tier 7)
    Kidderminster
    St Albans City
Buxton would be awesome. Lovely pubs. The Peak District.
    It'll be raining, of course.

Wipes brow and let’s put a big sigh of relief. Ipswich are going to be quaking in their boots at that performance. A win’s a win but we’ve seen better

I guess so but I think the mentality will be different, probably won’t see such a high line for starters.

Yeah I know. Not a "beef" or "bruv" to be heard! Nice to hear.

Up until that last triple scramble Gateshead barely got across the half way line in the second half. In the first half we let them have too much space on the wings. But second half we stopped that and bossed the midfield. I have rarely felt so relaxed in a game after our second went in.
Our two main problems were clear tho. We need another proper experienced centre half in 4 weeks time to make up for the crocked ones. And we need another striker as we rarely look like scoring from shots inside the box, tonight's was a deflection.

Good closing interview with Jacko, rightly giving praise to Gateshead, but Deji has had a good game at the back up against some quick forwards, Stockley giving Jacko the nod for the perm job, they all love him so over to you Thomas.

The main thing I took from watching this match on TV is that apparently every advert now has a shitty mournful cover of an old song as its soundtrack. I even heard a Proclaimers one in there. Jesus wept.

Not on Twatter. But how about #giveusJohnnie?
  • Is it just me or does Graham Stuart look like he should be behind the bar at the Nags Head?

Aside from the odd bit of suspect commentary, I thought ITV did a decent job with the coverage overall. Stuart and Waddle were good choices.

Not a sensation, but more a case of get in, win, get out.
    And move on to Huddersfield.
  • TS to his wife: "I know Johnnie's a good manager but is he lucky?"

    Wife. "He sure is"

    Jackson appointed manager tomorrow morning.
