But I'm confused. I thought Purrington was our best player or something.

(yes yes, he's probably injured, but still. excited for Maatsen Versus Purrington Part 2)

Well. Let's be honest, we play 3-5-2 and don't have a single real wingback in the squad. So it should improve us for now.

Will be quite poignant when Kirk buggers off tomorrow, a day after the player he needed to make a fist of it here arrived (that's assuming we went back to a back four though, which it seems we just won't)

Absolutely rapid and can also slot in at centre midfield. Looking forward to seeing him play as we've missed having an out and out wingback.
  • Hope it leads to a permanent deal in the summer, assuming it works out well for both parties. Nice to have an actual LWB.

Wonder if it means Souare is on his way out?

At a risk of sounding all "Adkins and Roddy @ Reading" was he at Den Haag with Powell?

Welcome Juan. Don't know anything about him, so won't pretend to. Though we do have good history with loanees from Chelsea.

Be interesting to see how the rest of the window goes, as this doesn't immediately appear to be a signing that prepares us for next season.

Hopefully there are plans that go beyond just the end of the season. But a proper wing back is good news for me, at least in the short term.

  • Never heard of until this morning. Will wait until someone puts his Youtube higlights and will make an immediate judgment whether to write him off as rubbish before he has kicked a ball.

*quickly google Bovine. Gets information about cattle. don't know what to do from there so leaves the thread in a hurry.*
  • A Chelsea mate of mine reckons he used to be ahead of Maatsen. Obviously not the case right now, hopefully there’s something there to work with.

He’s got an identical twin called Jamall but no one can tell them apart. Once you’ve seen Juan, you’ve seen Jamall
Admin.....this deserves a two day ban!!!!

yep, i'm jealous that I didn't think of it
  • He might be speedy but can he actually defend?

As a kid he was at Ajax for 7 years and then Chelsea and played for Holland at every age group from U15 to U20 so he's clearly got some talent.

It’s always difficult to tell how good a lot of the Chelsea youngsters are, or will go on to be as they have so many.  Some like Gallagher are very good, but then you have the other end of the scale like Josh Mchreon or whatever his name was.  Obviously had some talent, but perhaps overhyped (through no fault of his own).

You just never know.  Hopefully will improve us, and imagine he certainly has more pace than Purrington

2 full games for Birmingham in the League Cup and 3 league appearances totalling 82 minutes this season.

Bowyer said he was out of shape and overweight when he arrived in pre season. And he played with Peter Garland, so he would know about large players!

Fingers crossed that the Black Box is Ride on Time on this one! (That Song is going to be stuck in your head all day now!)

    We've only got one Juan,
    We've only got one Juan.
    We've only got one Juan."

I've already got my coat on and left the house. 😞

  • If he turns out to be not very good the song will be Juan - ton of merde

Out of contract in May so if it works out we have a chance to make it permanent.
If Bows said he was overweight and unfit when he arrived we know he will be as fit as a butchers dog now and ready to start.
I expect him to be in the squad tomorrow.
