Charlton took two gambles on Ryan Inniss and Chuks Aneke. If Aneke could manage to be involved 36 matches out of 46 like two seasons ago then magic as he scored a goal every 100 minutes BUT ever since he was thrown in and Played 95 minutes on his first game back from Brum his injuries are getting worse and longer. A decent 12 month contract max and prove you can be available for an extension for Chuks would have had some validity. The crying shame is Aneke could smash League 1 defences even just playing 30 minutes from the bench most weeks.
Ryan Inniss can't play more than 15 League games in a season yet gets another contract 🤦🏻♂️
I know the coaches who have mentored Deji since he was 8 years old and they are surprised how he isn't good enough for Cafc squad in League 1? Professional coaches, not dad's helping out!
Reality has kicked in for Thomas Sandgaard since the hyperbolic 5 year ambitions and blowing teams out of the water: it achieved the aims of selling a shed load of season tickets 14 months ago but the Charlton fan base is battered from the last decade (longer for most) and now are cynical as they see injury prone player's injured and despite a young manager with a plan, not enough players in vital positions to carry it out over the long hard grind of 46 matches.
The above isn't a rumour.
So the timing of his loan was somewhat odd, I'm not sure why we didn't wait until the window was shutting. But from what I've seen of him in the League and Cups, he looks very promising but still very raw. He doesn't have the ability on the ball that a young Konsa or Gomez did. And that's totally fine, those two were anomalies in terms of their ability on the ball as CBs from a young age. But with Garner's system, the CBs are on the ball a lot, and it's something Deji might not yet be ready for.
That said, sending him on loan to a National League side feels like a half measure, probably because it is, at least in part. I suspect the ability to recall him plays a role in that decision. And it's hard to argue that him playing regularly in mens' football is what's best for his development right now, and him staying at the club would mean a lot of time on the bench and in the Pizza Trophy and U-23s. I think he's too good for that.
Hopefully the CB we're looking to bring in is someone who will challenge to be first choice and not fourth choice. I think there is some room for improvement at CB, and I think between Deji and Ness we probably have enough fourth/fifth choice CBs. If we do bring in a first-choice calibre CB, then sending Deji out makes a lot more sense, there's no point in him sticking around as fifth choice. If we don't, well...
We are way ahead in XG from open play, so just need the finishing touches as so many have been saying. Get that and we will be right up there. Latest stats included btw my lad reckons..
Interesting that we are top from open play but sit 24th in set play xG.
Swindon ranked 23rd last season in league 2 for it so it’s maybe not one of Garners strengths. Top teams now hire specialist set piece coaches but I doubt our budget can stretch to that unfortunately
We’ll have Martin on it teaching his very hard shot
Jesus, are people still doing this? Worse than A&Eke

A&Eke was actually quite good the first few times.
Last two or three days of the window are nerve wracking. My guess is one CB (permanent), and two loans, one of which will be a Championship striker type, and the other a midfielder/winger type.
There's a small chance I could be wrong, I'm no Ronnie.
If previous deadline days are anything to go by, we will probably end up with a couple of loans, one of which will be no better than what we currently have. Apologies for being pessimistic.
Have a feeling Clare might be sold. Zero itk information. Hope not.
I can’t see Clare going myself. While we know JFC and Gilbey are on their way subject to teams wanting them, the only other I could envisage a move away is DJ, as JR-S will definitely be starting league games ahead of him.

If anyone other than Gilbey or JFC go we will surely have to look at direct replacements as well as the positions we are currently short in.
Dobson to Millwall, Morgan to Portsmouth, Kirk to Ipswich, Clare to Reading, Leaburn to Bournemouth.
Steve Gallen to leave, and be replaced by Martin Sandgaard. Raelynn to replace Scott Minto as Charlton TV presenter, with Shay Given and Alan Pardew replacing Curbs and Brownie.
I dreamt overnight that DJ signed for Millwall if that means anything.
Likely to be more reliable than some Twitter accounts. Make sure you make a note of any other transfer related dreams in case they turn out to be accurate.

As interesting as that?
Probably not a good idea to eat cheese and pickled onions just before bedtime...
