Club Statement on Discriminatory Abuse

A complaint of discriminatory abuse by an individual in the Covered End was made to the referee, Sam Purkiss, by a Shrewsbury Town player during today’s game at The Valley.
The game was delayed for a period of time after the referee informed the club’s safety officer that he wouldn’t re-commence the game until the two individuals had been removed from the stadium.
An individual has been arrested by police and is in custody. The club are supporting the police with their investigations.
The club has a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination. We have a long history of promoting equality and tackling discrimination. Discrimination has no place at this club or in football.

So does anyone (without going into explicit detail) have any insight into what non-racist discrimination consists of to be worthy of arrest?1
-
How do we know it wasn’t racist discrimination?0

Shrewsbury statement is much stronger
Shrewsbury Town has released the following statement after today's game at Charlton Athletic.
Shrewsbury Town Football Club is disgusted to hear reports about the alleged vile racist abuse that Marko Marosi was subjected to during Town’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Charlton Athletic.
The Club is pleased that Marko reported the abuse immediately to the match officials and quickly pointed out the offender. We hope the individual is educated and dealt with appropriately. Shrewsbury Town would like to stress that this is an isolated incident and does not reflect the good, loyal fanbase of Charlton Athletic.
We hope the individual learns that this abhorrent verbal abuse will not be tolerated anywhere in football or in any walk of life.
Shrewsbury Town stands together against discrimination and we stand with Marko. We will provide Marko with any support he needs and we will do everything within our power to ensure this incident is dealt with appropriately.

We have had many incidents in that part of the covered end this season from Coins to bottles to seat throwing this season. No one at the club possibly bar Mick Everitt wants to take responsibility to deal
with this shit. If the club had a made statement last October after the Accrington game then maybe this shit would not have happened.
But you reap what you sow and this was long coming and you have to see the young element now following us to think it’s carte Blanche.Maybe a good slap from an away teams fans might focus the mind10 -

Would imagine if the goal keeper heard the comments then loads of people around would have heard it very clearly. Will wait to see if ME tweets about it tonight.0

After we scored the second goal more of the usual suspects ended behind the goal to have a pop at the keeper. At the end of the game a Charlton Athletic member of staff took a few photo of these individuals. Was that for the clubs Twitter feed or to pass onto to the old bill?

The individual concerned is on Twitter saying he hasn't been charged as yet and that he has said nothing racist. I know nothing and do not know either party buy I remember we as a supporter base got called racist for singing "Who let the frogs out", to the Chelsea side years ago. Probably not PC and not acceptable but not worth the column inches that followed.0

Someone was mouthing off on a TikTok earlier and it seemed to refer to his as a Russian which, under the current climate, isn’t a particularly nice thing to be saying. This ties in with the comment I read about “getting the nationality right”. He’s a Slovak.
there are some utter wankers who support us unfortunately and the sooner they piss off from our games the better11 -

Marko Marosi is a Slovak; why do I believe that some/one of the moronic fans who follow Cafc believe that is in Russia ?
Some of the shit that comes from the mouths of our critics/fans is amazing and that's aimed at Charlton players let alone the away team.
I don't believe anyone who goes to work should be abused; including Footballers. Boo if you must but for a keeper to inform a ref of being sworn at by a fan who I would imagined kept doing it and mentioned his country as well ( or what the moron thought was his Country) then pleased that it was dealt with. "Only a bit of banter" said potty mouth fan when up before the break.
Can anyone who was in earshot confirm what was said ?
Put the words in speech marks !

Not surprising. I’ve become quite disillusioned with our away support (I don’t get to many home games) and a lot of the morons that are part of it these days. People have forgotten how to behave in public. Ban him for life.2
