I think it's £8M pa, so now he's lent £16M, which he will possibly/probably never get back.

A realistic view of TS's ownership:

    - Saved us from almost certain administration or even liquidation
    - Over optimistic quotes, likely underestimated the challenge
    - Managerial appointments that looked good on paper but didn't work out
    - Signings that looked good on paper but didn't work out
    - a man that clearly wants us to do well but has been naive about this level of football
    - has spent a significant amount of his own money to bankroll us
    - has made some strange/bad decisions namely the women's team name
    - Is spending money and effort to attain cat 1 status for our academy (would be the first league 1 side ever to do this)

Anyone who focuses solely on the bad points or good points must look at the whole package.

Has TS been a great owner so far? No.
Has TS been a shit owner so far? No.

A very well balanced post and I agree with most of what you say.
All I would like to add is that with the right people in place to advise him his mistakes could have been less.
He still insists on doing things his own way so although I believe his intentions are honourable I believe he will continue to make mistakes.
The longer we remain in league one the bigger his losses will be.
I'm not so sure he will be here long term if we don't go up in the next season or two.

There you go, Stuart Pearce steps down as West Ham coach, it’s got to be him!!!!!😬🤣
I have heard lots of podcast ex players playing under him, and ever single one, have said he is the worst manager they have played under. Changing rooms ran riot, no man management, tactical unaware, lacked personality! I really hope not
He was a massive Lurkers fan. No way would he put up with Sandgaard’s pomp rock.
Is it true that he was on the cover of one of the albums(Fulham Fallout)? Or is it just an urban myth?

    Remarkable job

    4th manager is 2 years
One of the worse seasons going
Separated from stadium and training ground
    No manager
Poor appointments behind scenes ( roddy etc)

    Yup remarkable job 👏
4th manager, one walked to manage at a richer level.

separate ground from training ground. Roland was never going to part with them unless he got an over inflated price. Ts did what was needed to buy the club and ultimately keep the club alive. Bit harsh to blame him for that one.

    the other two, agreed
  • Thomas has told me as well as others I would think that he has spent 15million of his own money. This was at the beginning of the year.

Well Melbourne Victory lost for the first time after a club record run of 13 matches undefeated Beaten by new boys Western United managed by John Alloisi .So a prudent TS could pick up a manager of the future in Tony Popovich.now Melbourne Victory has come to an unexpected end. Mebe even alloisi The final next W E will be between Melbourne City (of the City group) and Western united who have reached the final in their 3rd year in the A League with a tenth of the budget that City have got. Two or  three youth players in this final that our scouts could watch
You want to bore our fans to death with either of those options?
What about the third option the youth players that our crap scouts could run the rule over-3 have left the A League to play in Britain this season .All for higher teams than our Charlton (if you take Hearts as higher)
Riley McGree .Nat Atkinson  and Connor Chapman. Marko Tillio of City will be next for sure, after this W/E final-- I suppose Ange Postocoglou was a bit of a bore ,until he went to Glasgow Celtic ---Remember the names

If you’re gonna do a bullet point analysis of TS’s performance as owner at least be grown up enough to include “spent 8m of his own money to keep us afloat” as well, let’s not get all agendafied.
I got told off by Airman for suggesting there may be agendas against TS. Be careful a lot of people knoshed  him off with likes aswell!!!. You’ll go on the naughty step.😂😂

Careful what you wish for, gone very quiet on our so called favourites, so who knows..
Sure it was claimed a few pages back that we would all see our new manager by today, but nothing yet, so you could well end up with fourth or fifth choice, Nige is still available don't forget... ;)

I can’t believe we wouldn’t have some very significant hints and leaks from various sources if an appointment was imminent. Not just from within CAFC but the press and perhaps the club of previous employment if applicable.

I can't remember but I think Adkins was not on the radar until it was announced was it not?

    The site doesn't automatically update.
If you're reading earlier posts on the thread, you'll likely respond to those first without before seeing subsequent posts.

In my case, I never saw AFKA's 'keep on topic' post before I posted mine.
    Honest, Guv!.

I think I remember some muttering a day or so ahead of it being announced.

I always go to AFKAs profile and select "comments" before I do anything else to make sure I keep up to date.  Doesn't everyone?

I've been here at Heathrow for 3 weeks, checking on who is flying out to Colorado.
Absolutely no one recognised yet, nada, zilch.
    I'll give it another week.

I am getting very fed up with our owner.
he does not convince me at all with his ego driven bullshit and promises.
    Actions speak louder than words/Bullshit.👎👎
What like saving the club when no one else had the bollocks or money to take on the crooks and the financial commitment … take on a club during a pandemic that was on its knees after years of assist stripping left us with a shell of a club ..these actions you mean … people have very short memories years and years of neglect not going to be sorted in 18 months

The first bit is true. The second part is a fallacy.

Regardless of how many years of neglect the key part ie assembling a competitive football team is not overly complex if you or those around you know what you are doing and shouldn't take 18 months to sort out.

    Wigan did it. Bolton too.

All this "take time to turn around the years of damage" might hold water if it was a complex failing business and having to unwind unknown debts and derivative contracts etc but it's not.

Yes there might be off the field stuff that will take a while to enhance but that is not relevant to how long it should take to assemble a squad to compete in the third tier of English football if you have people who know what they're doing.

It's not complicated as Sandgaard himself said.

This illusion of undoing years of neglect is a complete self perpetuating myth.

We had Cullen, Taylor, beliek, Bauer etc under Duchatelet albeit he was an utter wrong un.

The problem in the main is we've been mismanaged from the top down with awful owners and poor managers and owners that have hindered half decent managers like Powell, Bowyer and (who knows even  Jackson).

What neglect and danage is there to sort out beyond getting knowledgeable people in to identify, recruit and mould competitive 3rd division side?
If you even take out the "summer of Powell" to of our other promotion winnings teams of recentish times were put together very quickly.

Illic, Mills, Youds, Bowen, Heaney, Bright, Mendonca (7)

    And

Purrington, Cullen, Bielik, Pratley, Taylor, Parker (6)

All joined after the previous season finished.  That's over half the teams that started the play off finals.

In pure first team terms 4 transfer windows in we are arguably worse off than when we started.

The women's team, training ground investment, fan engagement is all nice to have but it doesn't really matter if we are stuck in the middle of league 1, does it?
Did mills and youds sign in the summer or January. Not arguing against what you are saying, it's more to do with my ageing brain
I actually think they signed in March.
    Correct.
