The pre-season tour is all sorted. Anybody still need convincing that the Sandgaards are running all aspects of the first team and that any incoming manager/head-coach will be operating within their tightly defined parameters?
Or the rumored tour to Portugal was changed at the new managers request?
“Ahead of that, finding the right manager to take our men’s first team forward is our number one priority at this time. We have conducted interviews with a number of candidates and have been really pleased with the quality of interested individuals applying for the role but haven’t made a final decision. It is a thorough process as I want to make sure we find the best person for the football club.”
Anybody else reading this as 'we have interviewed a lot of people but not yet the right person for the job'
Maybe we have found the right person for the job of football manager, just not the right person for sandgaards nonsense.
Charlton will travel abroad for a pre-season training camp this summer for the first time since 2019.
The men’s first team are set to return for pre-season testing on June 16th and will depart for Spain the following weekend.
Owner and CEO, Thomas Sandgaard, said: “It is important that the team get the opportunity to have a pre-season camp. We’ll have a new manager, new players, our current players and also some of young players all coming together for the first time. The training camp will give everyone an opportunity to really get to know each other and to focus on getting ready for the new season.
“We want to hit the ground running this season and a thorough training camp followed by competitive pre-season games will give us an opportunity to do that.

Good news about the tour.
Interesting timing given that the transfer window only opens on June 10th...doesn't give much time to get players in before the pre-season training camp.
Irrelevant, clubs sign players before the window opens, including free agents who officially have contracts with their current club until 30th June.
Agree with @benjest1989 - we held onto Adkins for too long.
Of course we did, in hindsight. He should have walked after the Wigan game.
But sacking him before the Bolton game would have been rash. When would you have actually sacked him, without using hindsight?
It’s not hindsight. It was pretty clear at the time it wasn’t working.
Edit: I didn’t see your question. I wanted him sacked at the end of September/early October. I remember it well as I was arguing with fellow Charlton fans at a wedding about it 😂
The Bolton game was the 28th of September. Not sacking him then cost us potentially 6 points. That would have moved us from 13th to 12th. Hardly cost us the season did it?

Yes but we haven't yet. So there is only 15 days to finalise a manager and any offers and get players signed before they go off to Spain...just seems a bit tight

Don't think the June 10th date is relevant, apparently we are already miles behind just about every other team in player recruitment, so I doubt there will be any players left by the time the window opens.

Only if you assume the season followed exactly the same path.
High quality Egyptian cotton sheets for sale, can do a good deal, inbox if interested. Only serious bedwetters though , no time wasters!!🤣
Wish I had your confidence. Pre season is imminent and no manager and half a squad. Not ideal preparation for a promotion push.
Genuinely hope our concern will transpire to be unnecessary bed wetting but as things stand as of today I think we're in a worse position at any time under TS's ownership in terms of the football side of things and without a decent managerial appointment and good squad update we could be looking back pining for Jackson and Washington this season.
If its to be believed we should have a new manager and new players before the pre season tour. Guess it means someone is doing some work at the club to identify new players.

Why are people labelled bedwetters for being concerned that we have no manager, and about 3 players good enough for a promotion chasing team? It’s exactly 2 months until our first game and we have so much to do. Bizarre.
Because people don't like to be made to feel silly and face up to the reality that could be our 3rd successive flop of ownership after going all in with the latest messiah straight from the off before actually proving anything tangibly football- wise so they go all in sniping at fellow supporters for being non- believers and doubting Thomas's rather than concerned supporters.
Easy to snipe at fellow Charlton fans with concerns who have cared about this club for generations than admitting this could be another false idol.
Will happily take the bedwetter title if what unfolds in next few weeks and months bucks the trend of the past few years in terms of football men's first team set up and achievement but will keep pissing the sheets until then having handed over best part of a grand again to watch another season in this shite league with no sign to date that we're anything than worse off this year and having let go one of our best players who's now signed for a Championship because of an alleged amateurish personal spat with a family member.
Sandgaard knew well before sacking Jackson that he needed a new manager. Here we are, weeks later and still no one appointed. I wonder if some of the candidates have turned us down knowing or seeking clarity on how much say they will have in terms of recruitment and playing style? This has turned into a farce now. Other clubs may only have signed only a few players but you can be sure their recruitment planning is well ahead of us and negotiations already happening. Without a manager in place, we can't possibly be in that position. This ongoing uncertainty only increases the speculation and focus on Martin's role and involvement. Sandgaard has brought that on himself by appointing Junior in the first place. A totally crass decision even if he was/is brilliant at the job for which he has no previous experience or depth of knowledge. Who decided upon Spain for pre-season? They're going out there in just over two weeks, How many players will we have signed by then? That looks largely like a waste of time as a result. This is such a crucial summer for the club and to date nothing positive has happened. Sandgaard has shown himself to be hopeless in hiring and firing in respect of Charlton. His record is atrocious. However, one should remember what an easy and simple business it is!

I don't think there'll be as many players incoming as most on here think we need and loans don't normally happen until later. I'm sure he's expecting the new Head Coach /Manager to get a tune out of the midfield options already available, provided we can keep hold of them and some stay fit. Most would agree that Gilbey underperformed last season for someone of proven ability at L1 level and Fraser effectively had a false start with injuries.
I think we need an additional 1st choice striker, assuming Aneke is only ever super sub, and a back up striker (neither with a history of injury issues please!) Same goes for any new additions. Also a CB and two specialist FB's if Purrington doesn't re-sign. May have to let a winger go to make room in the squad.
I don't want to see any fading stars of the past or journeymen looking to see out their careers arriving through the door as they're not incentivised, especially if they're so unfit they'd struggle to get through it!
There’s been some confusion. The preseason tour of Spain is booked for Sandgaard the band, not CAFC.
Good research LoOkOuT.
I wondered why they weren't going to the golf complex with the one football pitch in the Mijas hills but the Marbella arena this time. Thomas is going to play one up front and give out free tickets again. Big Ronnie Dangerfield on drums and Martin on Bass with Doctor Raelyn in her ABBA outfit. (Brighton Eurovision)
Does it actually matter who decided that the club are holding a pre season camp in Spain. Half the clubs in the FL will be off to Spain. It’s hardly an odd choice is it ? There are probably more places suitable for a football clubs pre season in Spain than almost anywhere else. Good weather, good facilities and it’s as close as. Why are people trying to dissect the arse out of every single thing that comes out of the club ?
Having to wait for the owner to come over in order to appoint a manager is just bizarre. Imagine if Man Utd held off on naming Ten Hag because they had to wait for the Glazers to get through baggage reclaim at Manchester airport. Strange behaviour.

If Robinson is the favourite for Loftus Road then perhaps that’s because MB is heading our way?
Of course that happens in all walks of life but not publicly.

Big few weeks to turn that around.
