The date of the second round game will be negotiated with Cray Valley or Welling at some point after they play their first round game. They play next Tuesday.
An outstanding performance from Charlton in a clean, sporting game of football. They were faster, fitter and more skilful than their opponents and were well worth the 6-0 scoreline. Richard Chin, Lucas Ness and Dylan Gavin were excellent. The official crowd was 177. Not much in Football League terms, but 25% more than they would normally get in a league match.
The London FA website still shows the Welling away game as 19 December, which I assume means the rescheduled date hasn't been agreed yet. The game to settle the other half of the quarter final, Cockfosters v Barking, isn't until 21 Feb, so as long as we're done by then we won't be holding anyone up.
The winner of the Welling game will be away in the quarter final at Barking. The QF winner faces a semi-final at home against the winner of Hendon v Brentford u-21. Both those games need to be fitted in during April as the final is due to be on 2 May and the non-league teams mostly shut down after that until July.
Just an update. Wingate & Finchley won through to the final last night, so if Charlton win at Welling next Tuesday in Round 2 and then if they beat Barking in the quarter final and then if they beat Hendon in the semi final, they will play Wingate in the final on 2nd May. Still a bit of work to be done.
@killerjerrylee only a question but why is one finalist already thru to final , while Charlton haven’t even played second round. 3 games behind what was the hold up?
Welling have apparently had big admin problems this season. At least two changes of secretary. Hopefully, they are all sorted out now. Our game is on next Tuesday.
That's not quite true, in fairness. The game was all set and confirmed for December 19th and then Charlton wanted it postponed a week before due to preferring to play a Premier League Cup game instead, so called it off. Due to a large amount of postponements and catch-up games, it was difficult to find a free date until April which is where we're at now. In an ideal world it would have been played four months ago, but it was Charlton who chose to cancel it to prioritise another competition after a date had already been confirmed.
