A weird situation in which the draw is guaranteed but both sides will want to play on to get some more bonus points.
Indeed. But that is exactly what Key, McCullum and Stokes want. Making it only 5 points for a draw actually leaves the competition open to the vagaries of the weather, depending on how good or bad it is with so many matches being played in April, May and September. Are teams likely to sacrifice a first innings and declare without batting as has been known to happen previously?
For yet another round of fixtures, lol @ Yorkshire (for different reasons this time)
Presumably because the day was washed out with them needing just 63 runs and with 7 wickets in hand? As I mentioned earlier, having half the games at either end of the season means that more results will be dictated by how fortunate a county is with the weather. There are no CC matches whatsoever between 29th July and 9th September whereas there are five matches between 6th April and 31st May and another two between the 10th September and 22nd September - that's half the CC matches during what is, typically, the worst time of year to be playing climate wise.
The first day of the Kent 2s game v Essex at Polo Farm was washed out. The game has now been transferred to the St Lawrence County Ground. The game will start tomorrow at 14.00

Essex have won the toss and elected to bat. There is now, unfortunately, a further ground delay.
Some quite interesting additions to the team. Firstly, Linde is back and playing. Unsurprisingly, after his somewhat "undercooked" performance with the ball in the 1s, Gilchrist is included as is 20 year old all rounderTom Hinley, released by Sussex last season. Joe Denly's nephew, Jaydn, gets another outing but the best news of all is that Ben Aldred is playing after recovering from his cardiac arrest in Australia some six months ago.

Oh god, didn’t know that about Ben, that’s shocking.
Ben was in Perth visiting family before he was due to fly to Adelaide to join up with the DLCA. Ben was incredibly fortunate that an ambulance happened to be less than a couple of minutes away. A truly remarkable recovery and fantastic to see him back on the pitch. Full story below:
Didn't even know Sussex had released Hinley, that's news to me.
Seb played against him in a county U18 game a couple of years ago and Hinley scored a ton. As you know, Sussex have had a crop of youngsters come through but I am surprised that they let Hinley go, assuming that this was based on cricketing grounds, because the lad looked a real talent.
Essex 2s are currently 229-5 off 80 overs. Of the 12 that are playing for us, no less than nine have bowled with the only ones that haven't being the keepers, Finch and Aldred, plus Muyeye who must have the raging hump that he hasn't been asked to do so!
Only changes to the last match is that Quinn and Hogan replace Gilchrist and McKerr in the 12. Suspect that Stewart will play as he had a minor knock that kept him out last time and that he will be joined by Quinn in the side.

Essex declared on 301-6 off 94 overs. Robin Das hit an unbeaten 116 for Essex and Minster's Niijar was out for 51. The wickets were shared with Linde returning the best figures of 17-2-49-2

5 of us going to this. Suspect with the forecast whoever wins the toss will bowl as rain likely early afternoon.
Sad to see Simon Kerrigan currently plying his trade in a game for Northants 2s against Loughborough. Who could forget the awful experience of his one and only Test almost exactly a decade ago. Just goes to show how difficult it is to get to the top let alone stay there and how such experiences can be so mentally bad for the individual in question.
Kent 2s are 158-2. Finch out for 15 and O'Riordan for 59. Muyeye is currently 74 not out. All three of those have demonstrated very good form this season in the 2s and we really haven't been in a position in recent years where we've been able to put pressure on batsmen in the first team as these three are doing. I'm not sure, though, whether Denly automatically gets back in as and when someone is unavailable or dropped.
That's 2 matches at Canterbury with high and fast scoring. I imagine they used the same flat pitch as the CC match last week, seeing that this wasn't planned to be played there and pitch was only lightly used because of the weather anyway
