I always took the view that either of them had any significant input into decisions within the club with a massive pinch of salt. Mainly because I didnt think the owner would be stupid enough to allow it. Seems I was wrong. Sadly I think that we are the ego trip plaything of a deluded mob of idiots. When he took over at ours we was an absolute shambles and we looked like we was going to drop in to the bottom tier. He kept us up with a few games to spare.
The following season, his first full season, he got us to the play off final, the season after that he got us promoted. He also got us to an FA cup semi final.
He got both wolves and Swansea promoted out of the third tier and won the EFL trophy with Pompey. As I said earlier, I’m not sure why it didn’t work for him at Orient. Maybe it was just a bad fit. But you can’t judge his whole managerial career on that one stint with them.
Oh, and he’s nothing like that clown Adkins. He’s an articulate, sensible and pragmatic bloke. He doesn’t talk like some CBeebies kids tv presenter.
